“‘Can the ‘equipment’ be activated?’
•Kang Ye-rin, who was preparing for sortie, asked the mechanic. He looked troubled.
‘The synchronization rate is still… It’s from the prototype models used by the U.S. military, so… Some parts might be
possible for testing, though.’
‘Let’s wear as much as we can. Yoo-kyung, Se-hwa.’
Ji Seo-hwa nodded and immediately began her transformation.
‘Yoo-kyung, how about the new switch?’
‘It’s ready. We won’t need Excalibur now. Ye-rin, do you want to take care of it?’
‘I’ll handle it. I’m currently keeping Min-seo’s Clarent as well.’
‘But where’s Min-seo? … There’s no response.’
‘What did you say?’
Kang Ye-rin found it odd. The sortie order had been issued long ago. She contacted the association president.
‘There’s no sign of her anywhere! I’ve searched the entire association building!’
Kang Ye-rin clicked her tongue. She quickly made a decision.
‘Let’s go with three people for the sortie. I’ll leave the settings to you.’
Kang Ye-rin transformed into her Yellow Clocker form. Mechanics began assisting her.
‘Hey, what about me? Heh heh.’
The face of Shin Red, Arksi, peeked out. Kang Ye-rin scowled at him.
‘Are you not assessing the situation, considering how monsters are dropping in massive numbers at the site? Go fight
if you’re so eager.’
‘Oh, uh, right.’
Arksi scratched his head and disappeared. Kang Ye-rin sighed.
After completing the equipment setup, they boarded their mechas. The three mechas swiftly cut through the sky.
‘Is there any possibility that villains will intrude? We’ve received many reports recently of clashes between villains
and heroes at monster attack sites.’
Shin Yoo-kyung’s transmission. Kang Ye-rin was also aware of the risk.
‘That’s right. I’m not sure what they’re thinking, but especially that Vengeance has been causing a lot of chaos.’
‘They seem to attack indiscriminately, regardless of whether they’re monsters or heroes. And according to the latest
info, the leader of Vengeance isn’t Dark Matter.’
‘It’s a guy named Jeo-riu-seu, a B-class villain.’
‘B-class? I’ve never seen that guy. Where did he come from?’
Ji Seo-hwa asked.
‘If he was disguised as a regular fighter, he could have been assigned B-class during the categorization process. He’s
been present at the scenes during every terrorist attack.’
‘Could he be the demon that attacked Arksi?’
‘Heh. If he’s been hiding so tightly, he’s nothing special. Just make him come out. I’ll tear him apart, limb by limb,
and kill him.’
Ji Seo-hwa gritted her teeth. The phantom pain in her left arm still tormented her.
‘But what does Jeo-riu-seu mean?’
Kang Ye-rin replied slowly.
‘…It means “Dragon Slayer.”‘
‘Is the warrior His Majesty the Emperor wants still not here? It doesn’t matter. To these primitive people, death is
the only thing they need, whether it comes early or late.’
Cancer, sitting in a chair, murmured.
I’m watching him from the airship.
Some parts of the Yeouido site have fallen within his barrier. The barrier forms a dome shape, making it easy to distinguish.
Inside the barrier, six skyscrapers stand. They belong to the six largest financial corporations in the country,
commonly known as ‘The Hexagon.’
At the top of the barrier, a massive path of light stretches out in the shape of five stars, with Cancer seated at the center.
The path of light is filled with battle monster soldiers. Most are normal, but there are a fair number of high-level
ones as well.
Knowing that the stage with Archbishop Cancer was here, we had already prepared a strategy. Since the exact timing
was unknown, we stayed ready for any situation.
“Please save us!”
“Please! I can’t die here!”
It was the middle of the day on a weekday. Employees, who were working, were sending out rescue requests through the windows.
However, due to the barrier, we couldn’t enter until Cancer was defeated, and the hostages couldn’t move to other
floors inside the building.
To put it simply, it was a hostage situation.
It was a time attack.
“Dragon King Squad, descending!”
Led by Kang Ye-rin, Shin Yoo-kyung and Ji Se-hwa leaped out of the mechs. The mecha bombing couldn’t be used
due to the hostages.
‘The Dragon King Squad has arrived!’
‘Dozens of heroes are already in combat with the monsters at the site!’
‘The number of hostages the monsters have taken is estimated to be around 5,000, with an average of 800 people
per building…’
The Dragon King Squad aimed directly at Cancer. It seemed like they intended to attack right as they descended.
“How barbaric.”
Cancer did not move an inch. The three who attempted to attack were thrown back by an invisible force. They were
pushed back as far as the outer edges of the light path, the furthest distance from Cancer.
The three of them were split apart. They stood on different paths. Each of them was 500 meters from Cancer. The
light path was full of combatants and monsters. Every route was chaotic, as battles between heroes and monsters were taking place.
“Ugh! What’s going on?”
“Shouldn’t we follow the rules? Your intelligence is lacking. Tsk, tsk. This is a penalty.”
Cancer waved his hand briefly. In an instant, the top floor of one building was neatly sliced off, then fell to the ground.
Crash!
The concrete shattered, and flesh and blood were visible amidst the broken debris.
“Screeeeech!”
“Ah! Help!”
The hostages screamed louder as they saw the sight.
“Rules, huh?”
It seemed that Ji Se-hwa still didn’t understand the rules. I could definitely agree with Cancer’s words about their lack of intelligence.
“It’s a simple rule that even you savages can understand. Every 10 seconds, I’ll drop one floor. If you manage to break
through and reach me, I’ll stop the collapse and grant you the right to fight me.”
As he said, it was a simple rule.
Cancer was not a brute like the fighters from Pegasus; he was a strategist. His job as Archbishop suited him perfectly.
He was specialized in handling and healing his subordinates.
“Heh. Let’s see how you do.”
Kang Ye-rin began to charge forward. She dashed into the dense crowd of monsters.
“Hah!”
Her spinning kick exploded into the monster horde, causing them to burst apart with one strike.
Hoho.
This is a bit fun.
“Jeo, don’t you think they’ve gotten stronger?”
It seemed that Lua had noticed it too.
“They weren’t just sitting around. Look at the gear they’ve attached to their legs.”
“Gear? They’re wearing some kind of metal.”
“That’s Overtechnology. Powerful weapons. They must have borrowed external power since it’s hard to grow stronger
on their own.”
The equipment wasn’t something heroes typically wore.
It was originally designed for androids with AI, used as weapons for eliminating superhumans.
So not just their legs, but all their body parts had these devices.
The purpose was to kill people with abilities.
It’s clear that there’s a significant variable here.
This was the technology intended for use in the mass-production devices that would appear in the third scenario.
The third scenario doesn’t feature the main villain as an evil organization. But we’ll save that clarification for later.
Since I made Kang Ye-rin a strategist hero, the technology meant for killing superhumans ended up being used in the
hero suits instead.
Interesting.
“Hah! Haah!”
Kang Ye-rin blasted through the monsters, clearing the path. The heroes below A-rank followed suit, their morale
rising.
Ji Seo-hwa and Shin Yoo-kyung weren’t as impressive as Kang Ye-rin, but they were still putting up quite a fight.
“-?!”
Boom!
Kang Ye-rin’s equipment overheated and exploded. She immediately deactivated her gear.
That was expected.
Even in the third scenario, the mass-production devices were incomplete, and they needed a specific superhuman’s
DNA.
“It’s not even fun anymore.”
Cancer raised his staff and cast a skill. The general combatants Kang Ye-rin had defeated revived and quickly
surrounded her.
“This can’t be!”
This was the problem for Cancer.
He needed to block the skills and wipe out the monster subordinates at once with an area-of-effect attack to be effective.
The main body might not be strong, but it’s a troublesome executive.
As long as there are subordinates, they are invincible.
The Yongwang Team is once again in a disadvantaged position.
“Ugh! Even so, if it’s like this!”
Shin Yu-kyung added another switch to her transformation device. By the looks of it, it wasn’t Excalibur.
Was it a newly developed model?
“Hah!”
Flames burst from Shin Yu-kyung’s mirror. It seemed like they were gaining the upper hand again, but a high-
ranking combatant appeared in front of her.
Ignoring the flames, the high-ranking combatant charged forward. When he rammed into Shin Yu-kyung, she was
knocked down awkwardly.
“Ugh…! Even though it’s new!”
Shin Yu-kyung, frustrated, slammed her fist into the ground.
Kwang! Kwang!
Meanwhile, the building continued to collapse, and the hostages were dying one by one.
The first building, which was 80 floors high, had already lost around 30 floors.
I made a communication.
“Deep Dive. Are there any children under the age of seven observed in the six buildings?”
『Huh…? None? This is a business district…』
“Good.”
It’s time to start.
“Let’s go. Lua, Rena.”
“Yes.”
“You’ve been waiting for a long time.”
The airship door opened. Strong winds greeted us.
“Transformation.”
[Up a blind alley]
Lua put on her mask, and Rena activated her disorientation device. Standing in front of them was me, the Red
Dragon.
Swoosh!
We jumped down onto one of the light paths.
『No! There’s an intrusion! Villains! A villain organization!』
『Is that Elena?! The Sacred Water! The number one villain organization ranking, Sacred Water is here!!』
『Dark Matter! The second-ranked villain organization, Vengeance is here!!』
『Who is that unidentified red monster?!』
The media broadcasted our appearance.
“War’s Red.”
““Explode.””
In an instant, Rena and I wiped out the monsters. Lua, watching the scene, muttered a complaint.
“I don’t have a skill name.”
But she still blew them away with dark matter. That was impressive.
“Villain organization?!”
“Sacred Water and Vengeance…!”
Shin Yu-kyung and Ji Se-hwa looked at us with suspicion. Though they were on a different path and couldn’t
intervene directly.
“Rena.”
I called her.
“Would you like to experience high-level language, right here?”
I handed her the preparations.
One was a device the size of a palm.
The other was the Supernova switch I acquired from Pegasus.
“You should be able to handle it.”
“This will be interesting.”
Rena knew exactly what the device in her hands was.
There were two ways for villains to use the switch.
One was to destroy the switch with an extractor, absorb the power, and convert it into stats.
The other was to use it to activate the skill directly.
Rena took the device and placed it near her belly. A belt appeared and wrapped around her waist.
Pressing the left button of the switch with her thumb, Rena activated it.
[S■PERNOVA]
Clink!
Rena attached the switch to her belt. As she pressed the upper part with force, the power of a supernova enveloped
her.
A dazzling light poured from the galaxy. Nebulae and red clouds wrapped around her body.
Rena closed her eyes, her long lashes fluttering as she briefly enjoyed the power. Then, instinctively, she raised her
arms above her head and crossed them, realizing the words she needed to chant.
““The stars here meet their end.”
In that moment, the sky opened up.
A comet was created. Countless stars met their deaths and became supernovae, shooting out.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The light path was swept by the explosion of stars.
Everywhere you looked, there was only light, light, and more light.
A chain reaction of countless explosions.
At the end of it, only the corpses of the destroyed monsters remained.
『…Oh my god.
『What is this?』
The media covering the scene was speechless, stunned into silence.
Rena’s face was flushed with excitement, her face glowing with euphoria after experiencing the Supernova’s power.
Should I declare it now?
Lua used her powers to snatch one of the media microphones. The microphone was handed to me, and without
waiting, I shouted.
“I am Zeorgius, the leader of the villain organization Vengeance. To the hostages, I announce this: only those
companies that submit to Vengeance will be spared.”
