Never had the Young Lady found herself in such a wretched state.
The kidnapping of the Princess had failed, one of her arms was broken, and her subordinates were either dead or gravely injured. What infuriated her even more were Prince Maple’s dismissive words, “You wouldn’t understand even if I told you,” and Princess Fubai’s taunt, “You’re too weak; my Maple could beat you with his eyes closed!” Her pride had suffered a blow of ten thousand points.
They fled a considerable distance in one breath, finally catching their own. Some subordinates had scattered, but thankfully, her unicorn had returned to her side.
“Count the remaining numbers,” she commanded.
“Only eleven left, Young Lady.”
“Before the operation, there were a hundred and eight!”
“Young Lady, the Prince of Britannia alone took care of half of them.”
“Hmph, never mind! As long as the mountains remain, there will always be wood to burn—”
No sooner had she spoken than the night sky was suddenly illuminated.
“Young Lady… I’m afraid we can’t escape now…” Her subordinate stared dumbfounded at the meteorites plummeting from the sky, their voice filled with despair.
“Do you see? This is the Emperor’s magic. What can mere mortals like us resist? Is there any point?” Some simply gave up, their weapons clattering to the ground as their grip loosened.
Even the Young Lady herself shared this thought.
‘Restoring the kingdom is hopeless… I couldn’t even save the Queen… To think that I, Shenwei, would meet my end here today.’
“No, Young Lady, if you ride your unicorn now, you might still make it.”
“You want me to abandon all of you and run alone? But what about you all????”
Her most loyal subordinate turned back with a faint smile, extending a thumb towards her. “Go. We entrust Her Majesty the Queen to you.”
This was their final appearance, forever etched into the Young Lady’s memory, likely to haunt her for the rest of her life.
“Run, Young Lady! There’s no time left if you don’t!”
Her unicorn, too, seemed unable to bear it any longer. It used the horn on its forehead to hoist her onto its back, then turned and galloped away!
Never had the Young Lady cried before, but this time, she was deeply moved.
Yet, as the meteorites rained down from the heavens, they, racing frantically before them, appeared as tiny as ants.
Her subordinates chose to remain, drawing the meteorites’ attention, hoping to buy the Young Lady more time to run as far as possible.
The Young Lady, clinging to the unicorn’s back, watched helplessly as the meteorites struck the ground. Her subordinates, these living beings, along with all the flora and fauna, were annihilated in a blinding flash of light.
She had feared being torn to shreds moments ago, but now—apologies, there wasn’t even a corpse left.
Immediately, a shockwave, imbued with destructive power, swept over them. The unicorn utilized the same agility it displayed during its decisive race against Maple on Mount Akina, sprinting ahead.
These little rabbits were too naive; even riding a unicorn, escape was impossible.
In a critical moment, the unicorn flung the Young Lady off its back, then stood on its hind legs! It spread its front legs, using its body—which even arrows could not destroy—to shield the Young Lady!
The Young Lady watched it, and the unicorn offered her a ‘philosophical’ smile, its image becoming its final appearance, forever etched in her memory.
Boom—!!!!
The unicorn was engulfed by the shockwave, and she, too, lost consciousness in a brilliant flash of light.
When the Young Lady opened her eyes again, dawn had broken, and she lay miraculously alive in a meteorite crater.
However…
Just like that, she had lost everything overnight.
She struggled to her feet, picking up the unicorn’s sole surviving horn. Her lips were bitten until they bled from sheer hatred!
“Dog Emperor! I swear we will not coexist under the same sky!”
Supporting her broken arm, she dragged her battered body, moving forward one arduous step at a time.
It took her three days and three nights to finally walk out of that hundred-mile-wide meteorite crater.
