Chapter 44: Attack On Titans, Part 18

The day after Armin inherited the Colossal Titan, we began our experiments.

The objective was simple: determine the limits of Armin’s Titan transformation.

How many consecutive transformations could he perform? How long could he maintain his Titan form?

“It seems two consecutive transformations is the limit… And that’s without any exertion.”

Hange’s assessment was accurate.

Armin could only transform twice in a row, and that was without using any of the Colossal Titan’s energy-consuming abilities, like releasing steam.

In practice, he could only transform once.

“Eren, is this normal?”

“Yes. If I had the same stamina as an ordinary person, I could only transform four or five times at most.”

“Then this is to be expected. The Colossal Titan consumes far more energy than the Attack Titan.”

“Indeed.”

The Colossal Titan was 60 meters tall, while the Attack Titan was only 15 meters.

The size difference meant a significant difference in energy consumption.

Even in the original story, the Attack Titan’s limit was around four or five transformations, while the Colossal Titan could only transform once.

Armin managed two transformations because we were testing consecutive transformations without any movement or exertion.

However, if he increased his stamina, he might be able to transform again after some exertion.

“Eren, how many times can you transform?”

Armin asked after returning from his Titan form.

“Hmm, I’m not sure. I haven’t tested my limits. Maybe around 1,000 times?”

With my superhuman stamina, 1,000 consecutive transformations seemed plausible.

While I needed to test it, my instincts told me it was achievable.

“There’s no need to test Eren’s limits. While the difference between 10 and 20 transformations is significant, anything beyond 100 is irrelevant. We’ll never encounter a situation requiring that many consecutive transformations.”

Commander Erwin was right. Even if such a situation arose, it wouldn’t require more than ten transformations.

No one could withstand more than ten attacks from a Demonic God-powered Titan.

Unless they used nuclear weapons.

‘I wonder what would happen if I was hit by a nuke.’

I might be able to survive.

Perhaps my Protective Aura could withstand even a nuclear blast.

‘I’ve truly become strong.’

I had grown strong enough to consider surviving a nuclear attack.

I could feel it.

My immense power.

But I was still far from the strongest.

There were beings in other worlds who could handle nukes like toys.

I wanted to fight and defeat them.

And to do that, I needed to become much stronger.

“That’s enough for today! Pack up and return to base!”

Commander Erwin’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

Indeed, it was almost sunset. Time to end the experiment.

We packed up and returned to Wall Rose.

The Wall Maria reclamation operation was a highly publicized event.

Reclaiming Wall Maria would solve the food shortage and restore lost territory, significant benefits for Paradis Island.

Countless people had prayed for our success.

Ten-year-old Henry was among them.

‘When will they return?’

Finally, the bells tolled, announcing the heroes’ arrival.

Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Hange, Erwin, and the rest of the Survey Corps rode through the gate, their expressions grim.

The leader, riding at the front, announced, “Wall Maria reclaimed.”

Those four words were enough to ignite the crowd’s excitement.

And the one who delivered those words was, of course, Eren Yeager, the new ruler of Paradis Island.

“They did it… They really did it, Henry!”

His childhood friend, Amy, exclaimed. Henry’s gaze was fixed on Eren Yeager, riding at the front.

He saw the Wings of Freedom emblem.

“Freedom… Amy, I want to join the Survey Corps.”

“What? Are you serious?”

“Yes.”

He expected her to be angry, but Amy surprised him.

“Then I’m joining too.”

“What? It’s dangerous! You could die!”

“So could you!”

Henry wanted to argue, but seeing Amy’s tears, he fell silent.

“We’ll go together.”

Henry sighed and replied, “Alright.”

That day, two children resolved to join the Survey Corps.
