First Meeting

Chapter 441,206 words11 min read

The next day arrived.

Yang Liying’s emergency surgery had proceeded smoothly.

However, due to significant blood loss, she remained unconscious in her hospital bed.

To avoid missing classes, Chen Zeyu and Evetti decided to attend school for the day.

They planned to gauge Sun Baihai’s attitude and gather information.

“Hah-hoo~”

Chen Zeyu yawned as she strolled along the path.

To manage the notoriety from recent events, she had deliberately altered her appearance.

She had asked Evetti to magically darken her hair, and her eyes were obscured by black contact lenses.

Her summer T-shirt, predominantly white, was unremarkable, paired with plain blue school uniform trousers.

This slightly clumsy, unassuming outfit was typical of a middle school student, allowing her to easily blend into the crowd.

Even at their private high school, where dress codes were relaxed, it proved effective.

Evetti followed tens of meters behind.

She hadn’t changed her attire much, as she wasn’t central to the incident, and her eye color already set her apart.

Chen Zeyu’s only regret today was not being able to walk alongside Evetti as usual.

They needed to prevent Sun Baihai from blocking the school entrance.

The school gate appeared in sight.

With her ordinary attire diminishing her overall attractiveness, fewer students cast curious glances her way; they simply thought she was rather pretty.

This tactic proved effective.

‘Now, let me see who’s blocking the school gate,’ Chen Zeyu thought, her heart secretly pleased.

She then surveyed both sides of the entrance, quickly noticing something amiss.

Two tall, short-haired young men leaned against the school gate pillars.

Their black T-shirts were uniformly printed with skulls, and their gazes were fierce, like wild dogs hunting prey.

It seemed anyone who provoked them would be in deep trouble.

The elderly security guards hid within their guardroom, unwilling to provoke such troublesome individuals.

‘Let them stand there,’ they seemed to think.

‘At least they haven’t caused any trouble yet.’

Chen Zeyu frowned and sighed, lamenting Sun Baihai’s arrogance while also feeling pity for the old guards.

‘The school’s security needs to be reinforced!’ she thought.

She decided to simply blend into the crowd and walk past nonchalantly, then wait for Evetti inside the gate.

Chen Zeyu made her decision and stepped forward.

The surrounding students, like moving walls, obscured the two large men’s view, and it seemed she would pass through smoothly.

However, an unexpected incident occurred.

“Chen Yuqing.”

A gentle male voice unexpectedly reached Chen Zeyu’s ears, sending a shiver down her spine.

‘Damn it! I’ve been recognized?’

‘No, wait! Maybe I misheard! Just keep walking, ignore him!’

Chen Zeyu paused for a moment due to her reaction, but quickly buried her head and continued forward.

This was her way of escaping.

The voice behind her didn’t pursue.

Instead, its owner revealed a faint smile amidst the crowd, a stark contrast to the hurrying shadows of other students.

At that moment, it was Evetti’s turn to enter the school gate.

“Wait a moment!”

A young man in a skull T-shirt saw Evetti approaching and quickly pushed through the students to block her path.

Evetti, unperturbed by the obstruction, kept her gaze not on the burly man before her, but on the blond-haired young man at the intersection of the school gate.

“Young Master Sun, the person you asked for has arrived.”

Another skull-T-shirted young man reported, bowing his head deferentially to the blond-haired youth.

“You’ve stopped the wrong person.”

“Chen Yuqing has already passed under your noses.”

“The young lady you’ve stopped is Chen Yuqing’s older sister, Miss Chen Yunyao, isn’t that right?”

The blond-haired young man walked against the flow of students, his dark blue suit making him conspicuous.

With a brown-black gold-threaded tie, he gave others the mistaken impression that he was there to propose.

“You are Sun Baihai,” Evetti stated, her expression cold as she looked up, questioning him without ceremony.

“Indeed.”

“Why did Chen Yuqing change her hair color today?”

“Silver suited her so much more, like a Valkyrie from Norse mythology, sacred and pure.”

Sun Baihai spoke in a theatrical tone that made one’s skin crawl.

“I have no interest in Norse mythology, nor am I amused by your concern for my sister’s hair color choices.”

Evetti tried to bypass the obstructing young man to enter the school gate, but the burly man wouldn’t yield, spreading his large hand to block her path.

“Miss Chen Yunyao, we have plenty of time, unlike those rushing by.”

“I can offer you a satisfactory reward to sit down at a leisurely cafe and tell me more about your sister, Chen Yuqing, won’t you?”

Sun Baihai’s smile widened.

His face was pale and sharply defined, appearing handsome in the sunlight, and the outline of his figure beneath the suit seemed quite good.

Any other girl might have been swayed, at least a little.

But Evetti felt nothing but deep aversion for the young man wasting her time.

“Do not ask me about her.”

“You are wasting my precious time.”

Evetti’s voice carried a hint of anger, and her purple eyes emanated a chilling aura.

The young man blocking Evetti’s path trembled abruptly.

He felt fear, and it stemmed from the small figure of Evetti.

‘Such a petite person, yet where does such immense oppressive power come from?’

The burly man in the skull T-shirt certainly couldn’t comprehend it, but Sun Baihai showed no sign of changing his mind.

He pushed aside his somewhat incompetent subordinate and positioned himself in front of Evetti.

“What? Do you think your nostrils are more appealing than the previous one?” Evetti retorted, looking up directly.

“Heh heh… Miss Chen Yunyao speaks very bluntly, which is a little displeasing.”

“Do you speak in such a tone everywhere?”

Sun Baihai’s brown eyes gazed down, full of ill intent.

“I only speak this way to fools who waste time.”

“Would you please move aside?”

“You’re dressed like a noisy cicada, as if eager to flaunt your grating tone.”

Evetti clasped her hands behind her back, her fingers forming small fists.

“Chen Yuqing is truly fortunate to have an older sister with such exceptional ‘vocal skills’.”

“I suppose ordinary men wouldn’t be able to get close to her.”

Sun Baihai’s eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly a little agitated.

“Self-awareness is a rare quality, Young Master Sun.”

Evetti’s expression remained calm and unruffled.

She was not sensitive to certain words, perceiving ‘vocal skills’ as merely a term.

Sun Baihai knew he held no advantage in this verbal sparring.

Glancing at the students observing the spectacle, he felt a sudden surge of heat rise through him—a sensation he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

“Let her pass,” Sun Baihai instructed his two subordinates.

“You should have done so sooner.”

Evetti stepped into the school without looking back, completely disregarding Sun Baihai’s actions.

“Heh heh… an interesting pair of sisters,” Sun Baihai murmured, watching Evetti’s retreating figure.

He suddenly became frighteningly calm.

“Young Master Sun, are we still going into the school today?”

“Was this outfit for nothing?”

“Let’s go, let’s see what kind of waves these sisters stir up.”

Sun Baihai nonchalantly stepped out of the campus, a new thought stirring deep within him.

‘Chen Yuqing, Chen Yunyao, you will both be mine.’
