Once inside the room, Amy looked delighted.
She spread her arms wide and ran around, her shoes tapping against the floor with a lively da-da-da sound.
Lily worried she might fall, but Amy seemed able to keep her balance.
As expected of a dragon child—only twenty days old, and already able to run everywhere.
“Lily-mama, what’s this?”
“That’s a bookshelf,” Lily replied with a smile. “There are many books on it.”
“I want to read books too!” Amy raised her hand and shouted happily.
“Alright, let me see if there’s one suitable for you.”
Lily scanned the shelves and soon found a picture book.
It was mostly illustrations with simple text—perfect for children.
She couldn’t help but notice again: the written language of this world really was Chinese.
She had lived in this other world so long, she had nearly forgotten she was someone reincarnated.
“Amy, how about we read this one?”
“Yes!” Amy cheered, clapping her hands.
The living room sofa was far too high for Amy to climb onto herself, so Lily picked her up and placed her on it.
Then she sat down beside her, opening the book.
Amy stared intently at the drawings with eager eyes.
“Lisa was a maid in the royal palace, and every day she had to do lots of work.”
Truly a children’s book—short sentences, plain words, no complicated flourishes.
“The other maids bullied Lisa, and Lisa often cried in secret.”
“Mama, what does cry mean?”
“Uh… crying is like this…”
Lily set the book aside and made a crying face.
“Waaah, waaah, Letia bullied me! … Something like that.”
“Did Letia-mama bully Lily-mama?”
“No, no. I was just pretending…”
Even if she suffered grievances, Lily didn’t want her daughter to worry.
So she continued reading, and Amy listened with great interest.
Letia stayed close, watching her daughter—and also watching Lily.
For some reason, her heart rippled faintly.
Even if she and Lily were like fire and water, for Amy’s sake she was willing to treat Lily better.
At the very least, Lily loved their daughter and wanted to teach her good values.
If Lily had tried to isolate Amy from her, Letia wouldn’t show it on the surface—but inside, she would have hated her bitterly.
But Lily didn’t do that.
And because of it, Letia felt an unexpected warmth toward her.
At first, Amy was full of energy.
But little by little, her eyelids grew heavy, and she dozed off against Lily’s side.
Lily gently closed the book, lifted Amy into her arms, and—escorted by Letia—carried her back to the bedroom.
Amy was growing up; she no longer needed a cradle.
Watching her daughter thrive, Lily felt a quiet sense of emotion.
How nice it would be, she thought, if she could share this feeling with someone who understood.
But sadly, Letia wasn’t reasonable.
Her mind was always filled with indecent thoughts, always finding excuses to tease and torment her.
Lily pouted, glaring at her.
Letia froze for a moment—then smirked mischievously.
Lily instantly sensed danger.
She turned to run, but Letia seized her wrist.
“Darling, don’t you want me to spoil you?”
“I—I don’t—mmph!”
She couldn’t finish.
Letia silenced her with a sudden kiss.
Lily melted weakly into her arms, unable to resist the rough affection.
“Wh-what are you doing,” she wiped her lips with the back of her hand, “you can’t bully me in front of our daughter!”
“Then shall we move to the living room?”
“Huh? Why should I—”
Letia didn’t wait for an answer.
She pulled Lily to the sofa and gave a gentle push, sending her tumbling into the cushions.
Lily tried to flee, but Letia caught her wrist and pinned her against the backrest.
She struggled, but Letia’s hands roamed without restraint.
“Weren’t you satisfied last night?”
“Do you think just once is enough to satisfy me?”
“Th-then… how many times do you want?!”
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” Letia stroked her cheek. “Didn’t you want to tempt me, make me lose control?”
“You—! Shameless!”
“I told you. I’ll make you drown in shame. You trampled on the pride of the dragon race—I’ll return it a hundred, a thousand times over.”
If Lily craved her attention, then she would have it.
Letia would push her until she cried out, until she was lost in the storm.
This “punishment” would never end, unless Lily admitted her fault.
Only if she knelt before her, saying she was wrong, saying she never should have tempted the great dragon—only then would Letia relent.
Otherwise, she would keep tormenting her.
At last, Lily collapsed, drained, into the sofa.
Letia licked her lips, pleased with the sight.
“So? Will you beg for mercy now? If you do, I’ll be gentler.”
“Wh-who would beg a villain like you…”
“Seems I haven’t trained you thoroughly yet.”
“Do as you please. You’ve already defiled me so many times anyway.”
“Excellent. Then shall we begin round two?”
“W-wait… let me rest a little first…”
“I only want to make you soar.”
Letia leaned closer, reaching out for her.
Lily shut her eyes, tears sparkling—but she had no strength left to resist.
And then—
Ding-dong.
The doorbell rang.
Letia froze, glaring toward the entrance.
Lily slowly came back to her senses, her blush fading.
“Letia… could it be the one who was following us? Did she come to steal our child?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. The only one who wants to take Amy is the Emperor—she needs her as an ingredient for her elixir of immortality. But we’re far from the capital now. There can’t be pursuers.”
“Still… better to be cautious…”
Lily shoved Letia away, stumbling toward the door.
But her legs gave out, still weak from Letia’s assault, and she nearly fell.
Letia caught her around the waist.
“Looks like I trained you thoroughly.”
“Th-that’s your fault…”
“Enough. Lie down and rest. I’ll answer it.”
“I don’t need your fake concern! I can take care of myself!”
“Still mouthing off? Let’s see which little mouth is so unruly.”
She lifted Lily’s chin and stole another kiss.
The soft sensation made Lily forget to resist for a moment.
The kiss broke quickly.
Letia gazed at her with amusement.
“Still going to talk back?”
“A wise woman knows when to yield—I won’t argue anymore!”
“Hahaha. You’re far too cute.”
Ding-dong.
Letia’s smile soured.
Their private time, interrupted again.
Clearly not the stalker from before—no murderous aura, no hostility.
Then who could it be? Imperial knights?
Whoever it was, Letia was confident she could drive them away.
So she stepped toward the door, reaching out her hand to open it.
