The Enigmatic Transfer Student and a Fateful Encounter

Chapter 44873 words8 min read

“Hello… My name is Yingluo. I hope we can get along well.”

She wore a black plaid mini-skirt and a simple white shirt, which perfectly accentuated her figure without being immodest. Her attire was simply impeccable.

Her lovely face caused many boys below to whisper excitedly. ‘Cute’ and ‘innocent’ were the perfect words to describe this girl.

Seeing such an adorable girl, the teacher unconsciously softened their voice.

“Yingluo, where would you like to sit?”

Yingluo’s eyes swept across the classroom, meeting the gazes fixed intently on her. A faint, almost imperceptible smile touched her lips. ‘Of course, boys are always drawn to me. Who doesn’t like a cute girl, huh? Heh…’

“Then… may I sit next to him?”

Everyone’s eyes followed the direction of her pointed finger, and a collective gasp rippled through the room. Bai Chen… The seat beside Bai Chen had always been empty.

It wasn’t that no one wanted to sit there; rather, it was due to Bai Chen’s consistently aloof nature. Yet, this never seemed to diminish his standing with the girls or his status among the boys.

Someone opened their mouth, but no words escaped. Yingluo slowly walked over, pulled out the chair, and settled down gracefully.

She then offered Bai Chen a smile: “Please take care of me!”

He merely glanced at her, offering no reply.

A profound calm… an extraordinary stillness.

It wasn’t until two weeks later, that evening, that Bai Chen found himself inexplicably cornered in a secluded spot. There was no one else nearby; in such a place, even if he died, he likely wouldn’t be discovered.

Even if he simply went missing, he would be incredibly difficult to trace. Bai Chen’s brow furrowed tightly. Taking on three people should pose no problem, but… he surveyed the circle of figures surrounding him. He spat, ‘This isn’t going to be easy…’

That night, in a desolate, suburban-like area, moonlight illuminated the scene. There were flashes of blades and sprays of blood.

Having left without any weapons, Bai Chen was forced to rely on his bare fists. In such a predicament, only defensive maneuvers like ‘reversal strikes’ and ‘elbow breaks’ could offer a slim chance of counterattacking while evading.

Despite such a disadvantage, Bai Chen still managed to knock down two assailants. However, his own condition was far from good; in fact, he was utterly wretched.

His body was covered in bloodstains from numerous knife wounds, and blood streamed down his form, his clothes already tattered beyond recognition.

A dagger was now raised high, gleaming with menacing sharpness under the moonlight. Seeing the usually proud Bai Chen in such a disheveled state, head bowed before him, the youth holding the blade felt an inexplicable surge of excitement.

*Swish!*

*Clang!*

It wasn’t the sound of a blade tearing through flesh as expected, but rather the clash of cold steel. The youth froze, especially when a black-haired girl, clad in a sakura-patterned kimono, appeared before him.

Her fair skin seemed impossibly pale under the moonlight, and the long katana in her hand was enough to make anyone break out in a cold sweat.

Partially supported by her, Bai Chen’s expression was somewhat somber. ‘To think I was actually saved by a girl… How laughable.’

Yet, he couldn’t deny that her swordsmanship was truly commendable. ‘Just who is she, then?’

“Ah, so you want to know about my background, do you?” Perceiving Bai Chen’s unspoken question, Yingluo smiled. “Of course, I can tell you. After all, you’re *my* person now…”

“My family has always been a samurai lineage in Japan. Even as girls, we are required to learn Bushido. That’s why I’ve been training in these arts since childhood. Even if you fought with all your might, you might not be able to defeat me, you know.”

“Oh, and another thing. There’s a rule in our family. Because Bushido has been lost to the world for a long time, our family doesn’t want to be exposed.”

“So, we have a custom.” Yingluo pressed her index finger to her lips, adopting a playful expression. “Everyone we save, well, they have to marry us, you see…”

“………”

Bai Chen dismissed it as merely a joke, and life continued as it always had for him. His routine certainly wouldn’t be altered by a girl’s absurd claim.

*Smack!*

The book on the table jumped from the impact. Yingluo slowly lifted her gaze to Bai Chen.

“What exactly are you trying to do?!”

Yingluo’s lips twisted into a smirk. “Who told them to try and get close to you? And who told *you* to keep flirting with those girls?”

“So you felt it was necessary to send them all to the hospital? Either with broken arms or disfigured faces?!” Bai Chen ground out, his teeth clenched.

“Yes, I did,” she replied, a deceptively innocent smile gracing her face. In the next instant, however, she transformed into something akin to a dark sorceress.

“No rival will live to tell the tale…” Her expression shifted again, returning to a dazzling smile, yet a terrifying, black-hole-like murderous intent lurked deep within her eyes. Yingluo placed a hand on Bai Chen’s face. “If you’re ever with another woman again, I’ll kill you, you know…”
