The Pedagogy of Aatrox

Chapter 441,369 words12 min read

Bai Jingjing began to feel a profound discomfort.

“For liberal arts subjects, merely skimming the books will suffice; deeper knowledge points require professional guidance,” Luo Xuan calmly analyzed for her.

“Therefore, for now, your best bet is to focus on the Old Three Subjects (TL Note: Referring to the core subjects of Chinese, Mathematics, and English, taught from elementary school through university).”

“Mathematical formulas are far more complex,” Bai Jingjing mused, analyzing the situation herself.

“As for English… I actually manage quite well.”

Having watched so many foreign dramas, her vocabulary was surprisingly decent.

“Then let’s focus on Chinese,” Luo Xuan suggested, offering a solution.

“Learn some ancient poetry and classical Chinese.”

These were considered ‘hard’ question types, yet often the easiest to score points on.

Thus began Bai Jingjing’s arduous, painful journey of study.

“We needn’t aim too high; for this week, just memorize these few pieces—they’re quite simple,” Luo Xuan stated.

Holding her textbook, Bai Jingjing followed Luo Xuan’s advice, settling at a living room desk and sitting up straight to read.

According to her, this was ‘experiencing a real classroom atmosphere’.

Bai Jingjing straightened her posture, and her chest (TL Note: ‘Tuantuan’ is a euphemism for breasts) also rose firmly, hovering above the table.

As it obstructed part of her view, she had to hold the book further away.

“The late emperor started his great enterprise… *huff*… but halfway through, he collapsed… *huff*… Now the realm is divided into three, Yizhou… *huff*.”

She read, gasping for breath, her chest swaying gently with each sound.

“Stop, stop, that’s enough, I’ll just lower your chair for you,” Luo Xuan quickly revised her strategy.

“You should just rest your chest on the table.”

‘Don’t keep reading with your chest straining like that; you’re tired, and I’m getting dizzy just watching.’

After lowering the chair a bit, Bai Jingjing was able to rest her chest on the tabletop.

Like a soft dough, the girl finally sighed in relief.

This felt considerably more comfortable.

Luo Xuan watched the scene unfold, a pang of worry striking her for Bai Jingjing’s future university deskmates.

‘That poor classmate would likely struggle to pass their exams.’

“I think high school students probably don’t memorize things by rote like I do,” Bai Jingjing remarked.

“Reading so dryly is incredibly inefficient; high schoolers must have some way to make it fun or boost their motivation when they’re memorizing.”

“They have group study sessions, teachers assigning tasks, and the satisfaction of ‘memorizing it before everyone else,’ but those are methods exclusive to a group setting, and we can’t do that here,” Luo Xuan considered carefully.

“However, I might have a solution.”

“Oh?”

Luo Xuan retrieved her laptop, found a video on Bilibili, and opened it.

“Just watch this more often, listen to it a lot, and you’ll probably have it memorized in no time.”

Bai Jingjing paused slightly, wondering what kind of video could be so miraculous.

She focused her gaze, seeing a line of text on the video’s title: “Aatrox Recites ‘The Difficulty of Shu Road’.”

Luo Xuan clicked play, and a passionate, melodious voice boomed:

“The Difficulty of Shu Road, Li!!! Bai.”

Bai Jingjing’s delicate brows furrowed; she sensed something quite out of the ordinary.

“…Can Cong and Yu Fu, founded!!! the kingdom, how vast and boundless…”

As the resonant voice of Aatrox (TL Note: A character from the game League of Legends, known as the ‘Darkin Blade’ or ‘Sword Demon’) passionately recited the poem amidst an ancient-style melody, Luo Xuan excitedly asked, “How is it, Bai Jingjing? Pretty good, right?”

‘The ‘fun factor’ you wanted should be completely maximized.’

Bai Jingjing’s mouth twitched slightly.

“I might need to listen to it a few more times, just to get a little more accustomed to this… style.”

The fun was certainly there, but it was almost *too* much.

It had already overflowed.

For the next period, Bai Jingjing listened repeatedly, correlating it with the annotations in her book.

Luo Xuan sat beside her, sometimes quietly chanting along.

Bai Jingjing memorized the text, while Luo Xuan memorized the rhythm of the recitation.

Over an hour passed, and Bai Jingjing collapsed onto the table.

“I can’t anymore, I have to rest for a bit.”

She felt a little dizzy, her head buzzing with the echoing sound of World Ender (TL Note: Aatrox’s ultimate ability in League of Legends, known for its distinctive sound effects).

“A short break is good.”

Luo Xuan watched her from the side; the girl lay sprawled on the table, a soft, incredibly pliant mass.

Luo Xuan thought, ‘Thankfully, Bai Jingjing didn’t go to high school. Otherwise, at least two circles of people around her—front, back, left, and right—would likely be distracted during class.’

‘University students are fine; if their studies are delayed, it mostly just affects their final exams. But for high schoolers, it’s the college entrance exam, which is crucial for their lives.’

“Speaking of which, Luo-jie, what do you plan to do next?” Bai Jingjing suddenly asked, a question coming to mind.

“Is there anything you want to do?”

Luo Xuan was slightly taken aback.

Indeed, it had been so long since graduation, and she still hadn’t decided what to do.

Although she wasn’t short on money, staying home every day doing nothing wasn’t a sustainable situation.

“I… I’ll think about it later, there’s no rush now,” Luo Xuan mumbled.

“I’ll see in a few months.”

She was quite happy cohabiting with Bai Jingjing for now and didn’t need to overthink things; she’d worry about it after Bai Jingjing started school in the summer.

“In any case, what I need to do now is supervise your studies properly!” Luo Xuan lightly tapped the table.

“Before Liu Wanqing, I am your teacher!”

‘And also Teacher Aatrox!’

Bai Jingjing’s week was, to some extent, quite painful.

The enjoyment of learning was present, but it was so intense that it bordered on mentally polluting (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, short for ‘spiritual pollution’ or ‘mental contamination’, often used to describe something that is so intensely bizarre or disturbing it “pollutes” one’s mind).

The main side effect manifested at night: as soon as she closed her eyes, she heard the sound of World Ender.

Yet, the results were undeniable.

This week, Bai Jingjing had memorized several classical Chinese texts she hadn’t studied before and expanded her English vocabulary.

However, for the first few days, she would suddenly exclaim, “How perilous!!!! How high!!!!” during her midday naps.

Only after she grew accustomed to the style did she gradually adapt.

In short, the progress was delightful.

This week generally passed quite smoothly; aside from studying, nothing else noteworthy occurred.

Liu Wanqing had sent a message, merely reminding her not to forget her tutoring next month and not to play too wildly, lest she lose her energy for studying.

Bai Jingjing felt that this future teacher might have a slight misunderstanding of her.

‘Strange, Luo Xuan clearly thinks I’m very pure.’

As for Lemon, the loli who had actively added her as a friend, Bai Jingjing had seen her display “typing…” several times, but ultimately, no message was sent.

‘I’ll proactively ask her when I have some free time.’

It took Luo Xuan a full five days to realize that she had become too engrossed in her “teacher” role-play.

So much so that, apart from helping Bai Jingjing with her studies this week, she hadn’t done anything else.

Or rather, she had only helped Bai Jingjing with academic knowledge, not with… physical education knowledge.

“Bai Jingjing,” Luo Xuan couldn’t help but hint.

“You haven’t learned any new skills in so long, only those two moves—are they still enough?”

‘Are ‘Round and Round’ and ‘Tiger’s Roar’ (TL Note: Euphemisms for sexual ‘moves’ or ‘techniques’) enough?’

“They should be enough for now, I suppose,” Bai Jingjing mused for a moment.

“I’ll try asking Xia Chu-jie these next few days if she needs any new poses… or rather, skills.”

‘Alright then, I can only hope my best friend puts in some effort.’

On Friday afternoon, Luo Xuan drove Bai Jingjing to the Ayaka Apartment Complex once more.
