An Huaixu paused for a few seconds upon hearing the answer, a wave of negativity dissipating.
‘Right, how could I have forgotten something so important?’
Shi Yun’s parents were returning today, and he’d been excitedly anticipating it.
What else could he be doing, leaving like that? I didn’t even consider this simple reason.
An Huaixu clicked his tongue and stood up, replying, “Alright.”
Director Lin, seeing the change from a downpour to sunshine, found it odd and exclaimed, guessing,
“What’s wrong? You two didn’t have a spat with Shi Yun, did you?”
An Huaixu turned his head: “…No.”
So, is that what it’s like to bicker now?
Director Lin, already seeing through everything, silently lit another cigarette.
It turns out the fans’ sharp eyes weren’t just for show; they were right.
However, Director Lin was just there to check on An Huaixu.
He hadn’t interfered with the relationship between the brothers from the start, and he didn’t intend to start now.
Director Lin said, “Your brother said to take your medicine on time, or he’ll tell your dad to lock you up in the mental health clinic!”
An Huaixu didn’t respond.
Director Lin cursed and, before turning to leave, remembered something, turning back,
“Oh, right, Shi Yun said to remember to take the medicine the doctor prescribed before eating. I put it on your desk.”
He finished speaking, thinking An Huaixu wouldn’t reply to him, but unexpectedly, the man made an “Mhm” sound.
An Huaixu: “Understood.”
The perceptive Director Lin paused, his eyes sweeping over An Huaixu with a strong sense of strangeness.
An Huaixu was perfectly fine, holding his phone and typing something.
Director Lin scratched his head and turned away, sending a voice message to An Huaixu’s brother where An Huaixu couldn’t hear,
“An’s eldest, I always feel like this An Huaixu…”
Shi Yun reached the village entrance on his electric bike, where a bus had just stopped.
He looked at the people getting off the bus, and his eyes gradually sparkled.
He quickly got off the bike and ran over, excitedly shouting,
“Dad, Mom, Little Sister!”
Shi Dad, with a kind face, was supporting Shi Sister, who was behind him, with one hand, and holding a large bag in the other.
He turned around at the sound, his smile like a Buddha, “Ah, Tun-tun!”
Shi Mom waved her hand: “Tun-tun, don’t run so fast, don’t fall!”
The dazzling sunlight stung Shi Yun’s eyes.
When he saw Shi Mom’s face clearly, a wave of pain washed over his heart.
Shi Mom must have been overworked; her gentle face was filled with fatigue, and even her proud, full head of black hair had turned completely gray, making her look decades older.
“Mom…”
Shi Mom looked at Shi Yun, and though she didn’t say anything, her longing was almost overflowing from her.
She touched Shi Yun’s cheek,
“Tun-tun looks like you’ve grown up. Are you tired?”
Shi Yun lowered his head.
Mom’s hands were rough, and the calluses kept exploring his cheek.
“Don’t worry, Mom, I’m fine!”
He straightened up, frowning slightly, “But you, Mom…”
Shi Mom knew what her son wanted to say without listening.
She smiled, “It’s okay, I’ll let Aunt Qi dye it for me when we get back!”
Shi Dad added, “Your mom has been talking about it the whole way, wanting Aunt Qi’s skill!”
Shi Mom nodded, taking a small bag from her handbag, “Look what Dad and Mom brought back for you!”
Shi Yun took it and found it was the candy he loved!
“This is hard to buy now, Mom, how did you…”
Shi Mom was vague, “This, well—”
Shi Dad spoke faster, “Your mom went to a few small shops to buy—”
Shi Mom slapped Shi Dad, lowering her voice, and a little angry,
“Didn’t we say not to tell Tun-tun?”
Shi Dad covered his head, and awkwardly, he chuckled, “You see, I…I was a little excited to see Tun-tun and didn’t hold back?”
Shi Mom rolled her eyes at him.
“Big brother?”
Shi Little Sister seemed to have just woken up, her voice was sleepy and, after that, a little head popped out.
Shi Little Sister was over four years old, and she was a perfect little white dumpling.
She wasn’t looking too well, as she often got sick.
But the treatment seemed to be working, and her eyes had a lot more light, sparkling and shining, making her extremely likable.
Shi Yun put away the candy bag and took over Shi Little Sister.
Little Sister liked Shi Yun very much and hugged him, snuggling, “I miss big brother~”
Shi Yun stroked her head, “Brother misses our little sister too. What do you want to eat, brother will make it for you tonight!”
Little Sister rested her head on Shi Yun’s shoulder and slowly began to recall,
“I want to eat vegetable balls, shrimp, mushroom and meat noodles, and…”
The little girl rattled off a long list, like she was naming dishes.
Shi Mom laughed at her, “Let me see, who’s the little foodie who ran out!”
Shi Yun agreed, “That’s right!”
Shi Dad laughed loudly from the side.
…and drove back home.
On the way, Shi Yun explained the situation to Dad and Mom.
Shi Mom wasn’t surprised at all, but rather, she was excited, “You’re so amazing now! Our Tun-tun is so amazing!”
“Did you go to the hospital? A lot of the nurses remember you. They even wanted you to sign autographs for them this time!”
Little Sister didn’t understand very well, but everyone was happy, so she clapped her hands, “Autograph, brother, you’re awesome~”
Shi Dad, “Now, whenever I go to the hospital, everyone pulls me over and asks, our Tun-tun is famous now!”
Shi Mom nodded, looking very proud of her son.
Shi Yun didn’t feel anything when he heard the outside people say it, but when he heard his family say it, he was instantly filled with shyness, and said softly,
“I was just helping the production team, I didn’t do anything…”
Shi parents knew their child’s personality well, and they exchanged a knowing smile.
When they got home, Shi parents went inside to pack things.
Shi Yun couldn’t leave the kindergarten for too long, so he said he would go back.
Little Sister stuck to her brother, and when she heard he was leaving, she immediately became unhappy and held onto her brother, not letting go.
“Don’t go, brother, don’t go!”
Shi Mom tried to persuade her for a long time, but there was nothing she could do. Shi Yun coaxed her, made a phone call to Director Zhang, and decided to take Little Sister to kindergarten.
Shi Mom was a little worried, “Won’t it disturb your work too much?”
Shi Yun shook his head, “It’s okay, Director Zhang will take care of Little Sister for me.”
Little Sister obviously knew Director Zhang as well, and she was happy when she heard the name and urged her brother to hurry up, as if she couldn’t wait.
Shi Mom didn’t have any options with the little girl, so she carefully instructed her, not to be naughty.
Little Sister’s hair was tied up in a little bun, and as she moved her head, it swayed, looking very cute.
Shi Yun said, while holding Little Sister on the electric bike,
“You can’t be naughty, okay?
You’ll follow Director Zhang, and after the other sisters get out of class, brother will take you to play with them, okay?”
Little Sister nodded obediently, repeating her mom’s words, “Little sister has to listen to brother.”
Shi Yun pinched her cheeks, “So good!”
On the road, the siblings met a lot of people. Little Sister was much more lively this time, and she didn’t know where she learned it, so she greeted everyone she met.
“Little tree, hello~ Little flower, hello~ The sky is so blue, you’re so pretty…”
Shi Yun felt relieved when he heard Little Sister’s voice, and the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but curve into a happy arc.
But…
Shi Yun remembered what Qiaoqiao’s parents and An Huaixu had said.
‘Your biological parents’ situation will only be worse than this.’
Biological parents?
Shi Yun sighed.
He really didn’t know what to do right now.
In the past, he could learn from the basics, but in this situation, he was completely helpless.
In fact, he didn’t care about it for so many days because he would forget his identity in the midst of a busy and safe life.
But so many things had happened recently, and he would recall some of the past fragments along with the headache, and he couldn’t deceive himself.
Not to mention, An Huaixu, whose identity was unknown, was by his side.
The world doesn’t have such coincidences, but if An Huaixu really knew the former him, would he be disappointed in the current him?
An Huaixu.
Brother Huaixu…
Shi Yun’s heart felt a little blocked.
He didn’t want to see that kind of emotion on An Huaixu’s face.
Shi Yun used to think he wasn’t an indecisive person, but when faced with such a major decision, he realized that he still wasn’t mature enough.
He sighed heavily and decided to go find An Huaixu and make things clear later.
Thinking this way, Shi Yun parked the bike at the kindergarten entrance.
He turned around to pick up Little Sister when Little Sister turned to the front and said sweetly, “Handsome big brother, hello~”
Shi Yun thought it was another role-playing game that Little Sister liked to play.
He was about to answer her, but he heard someone say from behind, “Hello.”
Hearing this familiar voice, Shi Yun turned around abruptly and unexpectedly met An Huaixu’s gaze.
His breath hitched!
Even though they hadn’t spoken for an afternoon, hadn’t seen each other for an hour or two, when he saw this person, he realized that the suppressed emotion in his heart was called longing.
He missed An Huaixu very much.
He wanted to talk to him, wanted to see him smile, wanted to share with him even a small thing, wanted to hear him talk about the things that happened in the wilderness survival training camp…
Anyway, as long as he was by An Huaixu’s side, he would inexplicably feel more at peace.
“An…”
Shi Yun called out instinctively.
Unexpectedly, An Huaixu frowned slightly and asked unhappily,
“What did you call me?”
Shi Yun: “Brother Huaixu, why are you here?”
An Huaixu was in a better mood, “I came out to get some air. Have you eaten?”
Shi Yun shook his head, “No, I just brought my dad and mom home.” He picked up Little Sister and introduced her to An Huaixu,
“Oh, right, this is my little sister! Little Sister, call An brother.”
Little Sister said obediently, “Hello An brother, I am Shi Xiaoqi~”
An Huaixu ruffled Little Sister’s head, “Hello.”
Little Sister shyly shrank her neck, her shining eyes looking at An Huaixu, not shy at all. She raised her hand to hug him.
