The Bunny Suit and the Bewildered Mage

Chapter 451,856 words16 min read

When I woke up that morning, I was a mess.

My eyes were dry and scratchy from crying so much, and my throat ached. My spine, from my back to my lower waist, throbbed with a twisting, broken ache.

“What is this…?”

I couldn’t fathom it. In a daze, I… I did that.

While I’d entered ‘bedtime mode’ many times before, it had never felt this real. I couldn’t push him away or escape. Rabi had clung to me with such a pitiful expression. Fearing I might hurt him if I pushed too hard, I was utterly consumed, unable to resist. It felt incredibly… hollow.

“Pata, what’s wrong? You can sleep more if you’re tired.”

“No, uh… I’m fine.”

I opened my eyes to find Rabi naked, holding me close. I was nestled in his arms, like a doll. I still couldn’t quite grasp what was happening; I was utterly bewildered.

Rabi, however, seemed unfazed by the situation. My mind felt sluggish, unable to process anything clearly.

Opening my status window, I saw that the ‘Void Manifestation Cooldown’ had vanished. Though I couldn’t see it, my experience suggested I’d be fine for about another week.

But how could this have happened? I forced my sluggish mind to think. Games can’t create something from nothing, but they can cut away existing elements as if they never were.

What if it was created, then cut? What if it was forced-skipped due to censorship? I didn’t know. Without that explanation, I couldn’t comprehend this situation. This explanation, rather than the gnawing anxiety in my chest, felt marginally more grounded in reality.

“Pata, why are you crying? Are you really okay?”

My fingertips tingled. I was scared. No, it’s fine. It’s fine. It’s nothing. These things happen, right? There’s been plenty of strange stuff until now.

Rabi was saying something to me, but my ears were ringing, and I could barely hear him. Tears welled up, stinging my eyes. I really was crying, it seemed. A sudden terror seized me. Something was terribly wrong.

I clung to Rabi, embracing him, and wept for a long time. Then, at some point, my memory simply cut out.

[Rabi’s Perspective]

Raphael Carton was lost in bewilderment.

The man cradled in his arms was his teacher, his friend, the one he adored. He was an enigma. Like Debora, the Goddess of Fortune he served, he possessed an aura of mystery and the unknown. He was kinder than anyone, yet more cruel than anything.

Never had he seen such a being weep so piteously. Raphael—no, Rabi—embraced him, who had fallen into an unconscious sleep from exhaustion.

“Why, why are you crying? I’m here, so why are you crying?”

He knew. Pata didn’t truly see him. He looked, but not as one human regards another. It was more akin to how one might look at a cute dog or cat. He had kissed him, spent the night with him, yet there was no heart in the act itself.

“You love me.”

But it was not the same as the love Rabi felt. He would do anything for Rabi. He could grant him everything in the world. Yet, even Bebe and Bodangbo could receive such things. Though he wore a human form, he could no longer truly be called human.

He had given them a fragment of immortality, akin to his own. But he had not given them what they truly desired. They had never asked for this… If they died, he would grieve. But he wouldn’t break.

So why was he weeping like this? Why was he suddenly crying? Why did he cry in my arms?

“I love you.”

He knew Pata wouldn’t hear him anyway. Rabi stroked and patted Pata’s back repeatedly before falling asleep beside him.

[MC’s Perspective]

“I don’t know, damn it!”

I didn’t know. It was already beyond the scope of my comprehension. Crying and screaming ‘Logout!’ into thin air wouldn’t change the situation. Rabi carrying me around, telling me not to cry—at first, I was too out of it to even notice, but now that my mind had cleared enough to think, it was driving me insane!

Perhaps I was already insane.

“Right, I just need to catch the demons. That’s all there is to it.”

I didn’t know why this was happening to me, but what could I do about something that had already occurred? The combat difficulty wasn’t hard. Which meant the difficulty itself was unchanged. I didn’t know what was going on, but the system messages were still the same. I even tested my inventory, and it was fine.

Something was definitely odd, but it didn’t mean I was completely helpless.

“Well, the ‘bedtime’ part could be explained if the skip function simply didn’t work.”

It was too full of unrealistic events to be reality. Yet, to deny it, the system wasn’t operating as I knew it should. I gave up trying to think about it further. Whatever it was, it wasn’t enough to make me abandon the idea that this was still a game.

“Excuse me, Sir Haut, why are you like this?”

“He’s been like this ever since he woke up a few days ago. I haven’t heard an explanation.”

“Right. He’s not exactly the type to explain things.”

Perhaps because I hadn’t visited for so long, Nocturne had come all the way to the Magic Tower. Rabi had let him in because I’d been crying and babbling nonsense day and night. So now, the three of us were together at the top of the Magic Tower.

“Alright. Today, I’m going to wear my absolute favorite outfit.”

“I don’t know what that means, but can’t you just keep wearing your wizard robes?”

“A man needs spirit.”

“You can live without that kind of ‘spirit,’ you know.”

It was better to just accept this strange situation. Denying it wouldn’t change a thing. I didn’t know what it was, but it definitely wasn’t the system I knew. Then I’d do what I could. From my inventory, I pulled out my secret weapon of an outfit.

“Is that even clothes?”

“There is no finer attire than this.”

It was a black bunny-girl outfit!!

As I rummaged through and put it on, Nocturne’s expression became indescribably strange. Rabi, for some reason, couldn’t even look me straight in the eye.

“Just walk around naked! You pulled out something even weirder!”

“You don’t understand. A man’s back is what matters.”

“I never knew such a scandalous outfit existed in this world!”

I couldn’t care less about Nocturne’s complaints about my attire. It wasn’t much. Just think of it as a full-body swimsuit, but without the chest.

Hmm. Perhaps because I paid attention when creating my character, my chest was quite ample. The faint teeth marks left on my chest were a bit annoying, but they were barely visible anyway.

The back was fastened with straps, and while wearing it on a male character meant it didn’t quite close perfectly, revealing a sliver of skin down to the gluteal crease, it was still fine. Besides, there was a fluffy white bunny tail attached to the back.

The lower part was completely open except for the crucial bits, my legs wore fishnet stockings, and my feet were adorned with black leather high heels.

“Since I’m still handsome, this outfit works. These kids just don’t get it.”

“I don’t care. Just do whatever you want, whether you wear that outfit or not.”

Nocturne looked strangely exhausted. I spun around in my outfit, then, feeling uncomfortable around my rear, I tugged at the edge a little.

Rabi gasped and tried to stop me.

“Ah, you’re showing everything!”

“Huh? Who’s looking at this? I’m wearing it for myself.”

“Yeah, well. You’re right about that.”

After hearing my words, he slumped down next to the worn-out, exhausted-looking Nocturne.

“Has he always been like that?”

“Nudity is a common occurrence. All the people who were used to it are dead, so I’m a little worried about going out on the streets now, but it can’t be helped. They’ll adapt eventually. Just accept it.”

“Oh, for crying out loud, seriously.”

I placed my foot squarely between them, separating them.

“Don’t get too friendly with each other. Our Rabi is too good for that.”

“Excuse me, could you perhaps consider the opinions of those involved?”

“Rabi, you listen too. If you marry a scoundrel like him, you’ll end up penniless.”

“You’re not going to marry me, are you?”

“Are you still sulking? Even if you married me, you’d be a widow for life, you know?”

These kids just keep grumbling all the time. Today, I really needed to go to the temple and bring Jack and Faust.

I took Nocturne and headed for the temple. Rabi? Rabi is the Magic Tower Lord, after all. How could he come with me? I’d just stop by to say goodbye before leaving the city.

“Why are you following so far behind?”

“I’m embarrassed to walk with you.”

Once outside, Nocturne was trailing behind me, barely visible in the distance. NPCs staring? Well, I figured I’d just let them.

The title effect didn’t seem to be working properly, but I’d known things were strange for a while now. Now, I just accepted it.

Where was Rabi? Rabi was the Magic Tower Lord, after all. He had to guard the tower. Besides, Rabi was already max level, so there was nothing more to train him for. And there was no time for grinding stats now.

“If you get lost, you need to go straight back to base. Got it?”

“Sir Haut, I am not a child.”

“You followed a stranger last time.”

Nocturne thought for a long moment after my words, then his face flushed crimson as he yelled back.

“I was kidnapped!”

“A healthy adult man getting kidnapped by something so fluffy? That’s ten times more embarrassing.”

“There’s no such thing as fluffy creatures wielding swords and spears in this world!”

‘Is he going through puberty? Always yelling.’ The kids around me just keep yelling.

What’s this guy’s character concept? He looks so slender, yet his emotional scripts are incredibly rich. He must be too weak compared to his base stats, causing a conflict in his settings.

Still, it was convenient that the NPCs cleared the way. Before, in the capital, it was always so crowded it was hard to even walk. After walking for a long time, just before exiting the city outskirts, we finally arrived at our destination: Hamman’s Temple.
