About a hundred meters outside the Ayahua Community gates, Luo Xuan gazed at the residential area from her car window, her words catching in her throat, only to resurface with renewed urgency.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go in and take a look? I really wanted to say a few words to her…”
Bai Jingjing unbuckled her seatbelt, her voice soft with persuasion. “Let’s not, Sister Luo. If you have anything to say, just tell her on QQ. Recently… it’s really not easy to get into Ayahua Community.”
To enter, you’d first have to scan a code, then register on the visitor’s list, and then Grandpa Fan, the guard, would ask why you’re here. How would you explain yourself then?
It wouldn’t matter much for others, but everyone in Ayahua Community knows that Xia Chu is already in a passionate relationship with a youthful, beautiful girl. If another pretty girl were to come upstairs and enter her home right now…
It would certainly spark gossip.
Luo Xuan understood Bai Jingjing’s implication. She feared people would misunderstand the relationship between the three of them, perhaps thinking she and Xia Chu had something going on, which left her feeling quite conflicted.
Because the relationship between the three of them was, one could say, quite the opposite… No, not entirely opposite, but more like it had turned about 90 or 120 degrees.
An obtuse angle, in short.
“See, you’re perfectly fine right here,’ Bai Jingjing said, stepping out of the car, and then thought of a way to comfort her. ‘You can make a U-turn directly from here and head back, no need to drive all the way to the intersection.’
“Alright, I understand,’ Luo Xuan said, slowly adjusting the steering wheel. ‘I’ll head back then.’
She was right; parking here was indeed convenient for turning around.
Bai Jingjing walked along the familiar path, entering Ayahua Community.
“Jingjing, back from school already?”
“Yes, Grandpa. Stay cool… or rather, warm.”
The temperature had dropped in recent days, and Grandpa Fan was wearing a heavy coat.
On Saturday morning, Xia Chu was still asleep. For the past two weeks, whenever Bai Jingjing was due to visit, Xia Chu would find it difficult to sleep, her mind constantly preoccupied.
Now, while she still felt anticipation, it was much better, as if she truly had a girlfriend coming home for the weekend.
Entering, greeting, tidying up a bit, and asking what she wanted to eat—this entire routine was already second nature to Bai Jingjing.
After lunch, Bai Jingjing pondered for a moment, then tentatively suggested, “Sister Xia Chu, do you want to take a nap, just for a bit?”
Xia Chu patted her full stomach, then shifted her weight onto the gaming chair, not thinking much of it. “No, I just woke up a little while ago.”
‘I only just got up when you arrived.’
Bai Jingjing pouted slightly, but didn’t say anything further.
In truth, the ‘nap’ she suggested wasn’t of the innocent kind, but Sister Xia Chu clearly hadn’t caught on.
What an innocent older sister.
Still, Bai Jingjing was a little curious. If Sister Xia Chu wasn’t napping, what was she planning to do?
Just as she was pondering this, she saw Xia Chu excitedly waving her over. “Bai Jingjing, come quickly! My condition is excellent today!”
“What condition?” Bai Jingjing blinked blankly.
‘A little tiger’s (TL Note: A playful internet slang term for ‘little tiger,’ often used to describe someone fierce or energetic, especially in gaming.) condition?’
“My personal condition, of course! My mind and body are both excellent; I’m sure I can fully unleash my strength!” Xia Chu’s spirits were high as her fingers danced across the keyboard. “I’ve even invited my squadmates. We’re going straight into a five-player premade.”
‘Oh, it seems her hands are in good condition. Nothing to worry about then.’
Bai Jingjing knew that Sister Xia Chu’s hands were quite precious, meant to be used for gaming.
As a gentle, considerate, and well-endowed girlfriend, Bai Jingjing naturally wouldn’t refuse her older sister’s invitation. She opened her laptop and launched the game.
Thus began a tense and thrilling round of Fated Mansion.
As soon as they entered the game, Xia Chu introduced Bai Jingjing, and the young girl echoed her, greeting everyone aloud:
“Border City Sniper God, Want to Be Miss Ganyu’s Dog, A Person Lives for Invisible Blade Ant — hello everyone, I’m Chuxia’s friend.”
The soft, youthful voice carried through the microphone, and all three teammates grew excited.
“Holy moly, she really is a beautiful lady with a sweet voice!”
“Sister Chuxia wasn’t kidding! Perhaps it’s true that birds of a feather flock together.”
“Welcome, Miss! Although… you really didn’t have to read out all our names one by one.”
“Miss, are you really Sister Chuxia’s partner?”
“Yes.”
“Holy moly, that’s amazing, I’m so jealous… Holy moly! Wait a minute, why is it the Mansion map?”
“Huh? What? The Mansion map?”
Only then did the teammates snap out of their ‘Miss Welcome Ceremony’ and realize this round wasn’t on a map they were familiar with, causing a slight panic.
“No, weren’t we always playing Small Town? Why did it change to Mansion?”
“Who’s the host who picked the map? Invisible Blade Ant, where’s my Small Town? You’re still there inspecting your weapon, I’m asking you, where’s my Small Town?!”
“I have no idea.”
At that moment, Bai Jingjing spoke. “It’s alright. Not many people play this map, so neither we nor the opponents will be familiar with it. It’ll be a pure gunfight.”
In that crucial moment, her girlfriend’s single sentence stabilized their morale and turned the tide. Xia Chu couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at her, her beautiful eyes taking in the sight.
‘This big-chested girl actually seems to know how to play the game; she’s not the type who just leeches off teammates and then calls herself a gaming goddess.’
“Alright! Miss is right!”
“Who doesn’t know how to gunfight? Let’s just do it!”
“Kill!”
With two sweet-voiced girls in the team, the CT side’s morale soared. Their marksmanship was on full display, and they actually managed a 13:2 lead in the first half.
The voice chat was filled with joy and harmony.
“Just casually killing.”
“What are you talking about? Miss is the one truly casually killing, she carried us!”
“Holy moly, 25 kills in half a game!”
“It was alright, my condition’s good today,’ Bai Jingjing said, growing bolder herself. ‘Now I just hope we can play a few more rounds to finish the 30-kill guild quest.’
Listening to her and her teammates’ cheerful laughter, their joyous harmony, Xia Chu’s mood was also incredibly pleasant.
She had considered that Bai Jingjing might play well, but she hadn’t expected her to be so strong. More importantly, Bai Jingjing also got along splendidly with her squadmates, and everyone bragged to each other with utmost naturalness.
In this way, Bai Jingjing had truly and completely entered her life.
When two people are in a relationship, whether they can get along with each other’s friend circles is a very important matter. If they get along as harmoniously as Bai Jingjing did, it means they can do things they enjoy together without sacrificing entertainment time for companionship, as their forms of entertainment are also the same.
Xia Chu couldn’t help but think of her best friend, Luo Xuan.
She wondered who had given Luo Xuan such a discerning eye, to pick out such a gentle, virtuous ‘little enchantress’ (TL Note: A playful, affectionate term for a charming girl.) like Bai Jingjing from the crowd with a single glance.
She could cook, she was caring, she could play games, and she got along with everyone—she was simply too perfect for her.
In the second half, due to everyone becoming a bit overconfident, Xia Chu’s mind wandering, and the game version inherently favoring the CT side, the team, which had such a wonderful start in the first half, was surprisingly chased down by 11 consecutive points, with the opponents reaching match point first.
“Damn it, it seems we messed up.”
“We’re about to be reverse swept!”
At that critical moment, Bai Jingjing stepped forward, first securing a quadra kill to reclaim match point and drag the game into overtime. Then, in overtime, she utterly dominated, killing ten people in four rounds, ultimately leading the team to victory with a score of 19:15.
After this battle, her squadmates in the team bowed down to her in worship.
“Miss is awesome!”
“Sister Xiaobai, forever our MVP!”
“We’re going to the Major!”
Ahem, ignoring that last sentence, the team atmosphere was excellent overall.
Listening to the words in the team’s voice chat, Xia Chu’s mouth twitched.
‘Now, it wasn’t a question of whether they got along; Bai Jingjing was rapidly becoming the team’s big shot.’
