Jealousy Makes One Mad

Chapter 461,302 words11 min read

“I can help you, but you have to beg me.”

Having said this, the first discarded doll waited with great anticipation for the beautiful dollmaker to nod.

After all, an eyesore of a doll had to be eliminated, and any advantage that could be taken, should be. How could it miss such an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone?

But hearing these words, the beautiful dollmaker didn’t think in an intimate direction at all. Instead, he believed that this resentful doll—the very first one he had discarded—was using this chance to deliberately humiliate him.

Thinking of this, however, he actually felt much more relaxed.

If a doll boss openly shows its desire for revenge and takes action, he can at least be prepared for it.

What’s truly terrifying is a boss who smiles on the surface, acting as if nothing is wrong, while secretly plotting how to trip you up. That kind of thing is impossible to guard against.

Since the doll boss’s method of revenge this time was simply a verbal slight, Ye Shengge planned to play along. He would follow the other’s lead to get help moving that Sadako-like doll out of the way for a while.

It wasn’t that he was being reckless. Knowing that all these dolls were the terrifying grand bosses of the dungeon plot, Ye Shengge treated them all with equal caution.

But if he had to choose between a doll that looked like a normal person, could talk, and could walk, versus one that looked like a horror movie ghost, anyone would choose the former. At least the normal-looking one was pleasing to the eye and wouldn’t scare him into a heart attack.

From any angle, this choice fit the dollmaker’s persona of “bullying the weak while fearing the strong.”

Thus, Ye Shengge chose the first discarded doll without hesitation. Following its lead, he said, “Please, help me… okay?”

Because he was intentionally playing along, he made his voice extra soft. It sounded sweet and sticky, as if he were genuinely acting spoiled toward someone.

Hearing this soft, sweet plea, the first discarded doll’s mind went dizzy. It completely forgot its plan to continue making things difficult or taking advantage of the beautiful dollmaker.

“Mm,” the doll said, trying to maintain its composure with a steady voice. “Stand aside. Leave this to me.”

Ye Shengge never expected the resentful doll to agree so easily. His eyes widened in surprise, looking completely caught off guard.

But he still instinctively followed instructions, moving back a few small steps to leave plenty of space.

“Then I’ll trouble you to… transport it upstairs for me.” For the time being, Ye Shengge couldn’t think of how to deal with this doll that had broken its seal and turned into a horror movie ghost. He could only temporarily put it back in the bedroom and plan later.

After saying this, he turned to walk toward the second floor.

However, after taking several steps, Ye Shengge realized he didn’t hear any following footsteps. Worried that something was wrong, he quickly looked back.

That one look froze him in his tracks.

Seeing him turn around, the resentful doll—who was still standing in its original spot, looking like a normal human—watched him with a half-smile. “Who said I was going to help you carry it upstairs?”

“Didn’t you say that as long as I begged you, you’d help? And then you said to leave it to you to handle.” Ye Shengge’s eyes turned red, and his voice trembled with anger.

He hadn’t expected someone in this world to be so untrustworthy. He was also furious at himself for believing such lies so easily.

And the liar was the grand boss of the dungeon.

If he had known the doll boss wouldn’t keep its word, he wouldn’t have played along. The result would have been the same anyway.

The more he thought, the angrier he got.

He didn’t want to talk to this dishonest person anymore, nor would he ever believe a doll boss again, let alone try to “soothe” it.

Seeing that it had teased the beautiful dollmaker to the point of tears, the wicked doll finally panicked. It didn’t dare continue bullying him and gave a dry cough. “I did say I’d handle it, but my ‘handling’ isn’t what you think.”

It added, “I’m not as kind as you.”

Ye Shengge: “…” ???

Ye Shengge didn’t quite understand. Why was he suddenly being praised for being “kind”?

And what was the resentful doll’s plan for its own kind?

Sensing the dollmaker’s confusion, the first discarded doll took the initiative to explain: “I’m going to kill it, of course. After all, it scared you.”

And it’s naked, wearing only a white blanket, deliberately acting scandalous in front of the beautiful dollmaker to get attention. Unforgivable!

Of course, it knew it couldn’t say the second half out loud, or the doll the dollmaker wanted to “handle” would become itself.

Speaking of which, the dollmaker was far too kind. Otherwise, why would he want to take it back upstairs and think of a slow solution instead of just using its hand to end it?

But it didn’t matter. It would think for him.

This doll had to die today.

“No need! Just help me get it to the upstairs bedroom!” Ye Shengge shook his head, his attitude firm.

No matter how you looked at it, that doll was also one of the bosses. How could it be killed so easily? If he tried and failed…

Both he and the resentful doll would be marked for revenge.

The loss wouldn’t be worth the gain.

It was better to take the favorite doll back and see if there was a way to stabilize it. That way, at least he wouldn’t be making another enemy.

However, the resentful doll completely failed to grasp Ye Shengge’s logic or his good intentions. When it heard the words “upstairs bedroom,” its heart burned with jealousy, and its sanity nearly evaporated.

It asked in disbelief: “The upstairs bedroom?!”

Ye Shengge nodded: “Yeah.”

There were no spare guest rooms on the first floor far enough away to house the dolls breaking their seals. If put together, they would surely fight. The only choice was the second floor.

But the second floor mostly consisted of entertainment rooms, game rooms, and a gym. The only room fit for living was the dollmaker’s bedroom.

This “Sadako” doll was the one he had forgotten in that room, which then broke its seal and crawled out.

He didn’t know how the dollmaker in the original plot managed to transport the dolls upstairs; he certainly couldn’t do it alone and needed help.

But the “help,” the resentful doll, looked absolutely livid.

If it remembered correctly, the only place on the second floor that could be called a “bedroom” was the beautiful dollmaker’s private room.

The dollmaker’s room…

Even for itself, it was only transported in there during sleep. Other than that, it had no time to stay there at all.

Yet now, this useless doll—one that couldn’t even stand or walk—was lucky enough to be allowed into that bedroom by the dollmaker.

Comparison breeds resentment.

Compared to its own treatment, it was maddeningly jealous.

Jealousy makes one mad, and dolls are no exception.

The emotions the resentful doll had been suppressing finally burst like a flood at Ye Shengge’s words.

It stared straight at the beautiful dollmaker, its smile turning eerie and its tone laced with danger: “But I only want it to die. What should we do about that? Do you want to stop me? After all, you love it so much—so much that you’re willing to discard all the other dolls for it, including me.”
