Chapter 46: Still, compared to other gacha games?

Gacha. In other words, probability-based item drawing.

Many gamers have lost money because of this system, and now, it also exists in Brave Märchen.

However, the fortunate thing is that compared to other gacha games, the probability rates are relatively high.

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Rare): The Crying Child]

  • Number of Stages: 6
  • Average Playtime: 20 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 5%

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Common): Hungry Anna]

  • Number of Stages: 4
  • Average Playtime: 10 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 15%

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Common): What Is This?!]

  • Number of Stages: 4
  • Average Playtime: 10 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 15%

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Advanced): The 17-Year-Old Pioneer of Märchen, Anna]

  • Number of Stages: 8
  • Average Playtime: 30 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 3%

…Probability is always extreme.

And gacha doesn’t only include stories—it also includes in-game items.

Of course, the in-game items are just things like the potato I put in my inventory earlier or crafting materials.

So, nothing directly contributes to character stats. All materials can be collected through normal gameplay.

Returning to the main point, the 1st chapter of Anna’s sub-stories consists of four parts.

Each story has a rank, and accordingly, different probabilities and stages.

‘Still, isn’t this probability pretty decent?’

Look at other gacha games. Some have rates as low as 0.XXXX%. Compared to those, Brave Märchen is basically an angel.

“Ah! I got The Crying Child sub-story!”
“What?! Really?!”
“Ugh… When will I get it?!”
“I got it too.”
“Why is Kanu so lucky?!”

The others were already immersed in the dopamine rush of gacha pulls.

I watched them with an odd expression before turning my gaze to the system in front of me.

The gacha system looked similar to those in other gacha games.

Brave Märchen also has a premium currency called “Stars.”

These can be obtained for free while playing, but most players likely won’t collect enough that way.

Today, as part of the beta test, each participant was given 100,000 Stars. A 10-pull costs 1,600 Stars.

That means we can do about 60 ten-pulls. And here’s how the prices for Stars are structured:

1,200 KRW → 60 Stars
5,900 KRW → 300 Stars
19,000 KRW → 980 Stars
37,000 KRW → 1,980 Stars
65,000 KRW → 3,280 Stars
119,000 KRW → 6,480 Stars

The premium Stars were divided into packages.

Each package gives a one-time bonus upon first purchase. For example, the 119,000 KRW package gives a total of 12,960 Stars on the first purchase.

And the only thing Stars can be used for is gacha pulls. Everything else can be obtained with the in-game currency, Gold.

‘But wait… How much is this worth in total?’

100,000 Stars in my possession. If 12,000 KRW gets me 6500 Stars, then… This is nearly 2 million KRW.

For a beta test, that’s a ridiculous amount. But since they gave it to me, I might as well use it.

I selected the 1st chapter under Anna’s category. Currently, four character names were displayed.

At the top was Anna, followed by Angela. Below that were Mio and Mita’s avatars.

‘So, does that mean the 5th and 6th chapters will be for Sara and Lumi?’

I could roughly predict how Brave Märchen would unfold in the future.

That means my own 11th-generation story will probably be released last. I wonder how long that will take.

Thinking about it, I pressed the 10-pull button.

Since I selected Anna’s category, only her stories should appear. Of course, I might also get various items.

Upon pressing the button, a new window appeared.

Ten unidentified cards were laid out.

Each card was face down, so I had to flip them over to see what I got.

‘If there’s no glow, it’s a dud, right?’

Out of the ten cards I drew, two were glowing faintly with a gray light.

That meant the other eight were probably useless items.

I decided to reveal the non-glowing cards first.

One stale piece of bread, three small stones, three twigs, and one cherry.

Yeah, just random junk items.

Leaving those aside, I tapped on the two gray-glowing cards.

‘Well, as expected.’

Both were common-tier sub-stories.

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Common): Hungry Anna]

  • Number of Stages: 4
  • Average Playtime: 10 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 15%

At least it wasn’t a complete disaster.

Still, compared to other gacha games?

[1st Chapter Sub Story (Anna – Common): What Is This?!]

  • Number of Stages: 4
  • Average Playtime: 10 minutes
  • Draw Probability: 15%

These two stories. Both with a 15% probability.

Of course, I won’t watch them right now. I’ll save them for a stream later.

‘But if there are leftover Stars, will they take them back?’

I stared at the remaining Stars, lost in thought.

They’ll probably just let us keep them. I’ll ask Tsupi later.

With that in mind, I pulled another set of cards.

This time, nothing special.

By the way, once you obtain a sub-story, it gets removed from the gacha pool. However, that doesn’t mean the probability of other stories increases.

‘Still, my luck isn’t bad. Let’s try to finish this within 10 pulls.’

I’ll keep whatever’s left.

. . .

To sum it up, I did manage to pull both rare stories.

But I had to burn through half of the 100,000 Stars we were given.

‘…I had such good luck in Menol, though.’

I caught the Golden Dolphin in one try!

So why now…

I pouted in frustration, but looking around, I saw someone in even greater despair than me.

“Why won’t this damn 3% drop?!”

“The irony of not being able to pull your own story… should’ve recorded this.”

“Anna-senpai is about to become the crying child.”

“Truly Märchen’s unluckiest soul… horrifying.”

No need to ask. It was 1st-generation Anna.

Her own story, yet she couldn’t pull it. A tragic comedy.

Apparently, she only had 10,000 Stars left.

‘At least I got The Crying Child faster than her.’

For me, that one took a while, but The Pioneer came relatively quickly.

Anna, on the other hand, was just cursed.

[(Global) Tsupi: Alright, time to wrap it up and log out~.]
[(Global) Yuwol: Can we keep the leftover Stars?]
[(Global) Tsupi: Yep! Thanks for helping with the beta test ^^]
[(Global) Anna: Kuaaaaaaahhh why won’t it drop?!]
[(Global) Anna: It’s literally my own story…]
[(Global) Baeki: lol]

As Tsupi’s message came in, everyone started logging out.

I also saved my progress and exited Brave Märchen.

Didn’t even realize how much time had passed.

Back at Home

After finishing the beta test, I headed straight home.

With the three packs of Luwak coffee Tsupi gave me.

I probably won’t have to go out for coffee anytime soon.

Feeling satisfied, I brewed a cup, went to my room, and posted my stream notice.

Ten minutes later, Yuwol’s stream went live.
