In recent days, Yang Yuan felt his mental energy being steadily worn down.
And for good reason—his small counseling room had become nothing more than a toy for two women.
“Lord Yang Yuan, this is today’s sacred guardian artifact. It shall protect you from spiritual corruption during your midday rest.”
Bai Zhu reported with solemn dignity, as if completing a mission worthy of historical records.
The items she brought were bizarre and ever-changing—sometimes a river stone claimed to be blessed in a remote mountain temple, sometimes a bodhi leaf said to “ward off evil and calm the mind.”
Today, she proudly placed a piece of thousand-year-old lightning-struck wood in the top-left corner of Yang Yuan’s desk.
On the opposite side, Li Yu’an calmly wiped a photo frame—containing a selfie of herself.
“Miss Bai Zhu, this counseling room belongs to Yang Yuan.”
“Bringing in these mysterious objects every day will disrupt his work.”
As she spoke, Li Yu’an carefully placed her framed photo in the top-right corner of the desk. Her actions completely undermined her own argument.
This silent battle had been going on for days. Every time Bai Zhu added a “treasure,” Li Yu’an countered with another photo.
Yang Yuan’s desk had become a divided kingdom—half filled with Eastern mystical artifacts, the other half turning into a personal exhibition of Li Yu’an’s selfies.
Bai Zhu likely believed, through her chuunibyou worldview, that these items truly benefited Yang Yuan.
But Li Yu’an’s actions were undeniably driven by pure jealousy.
That noon, when Bai Zhu once again tried to hang a “blessed” wind chime above Yang Yuan’s head—
“Stop!”
Yang Yuan finally snapped, sitting up straight from his chair.
“Both of you—stop it. Stop turning my counseling room into your playground.”
He sighed, dragging an empty storage cabinet from the corner and placing it against the wall.
“From now on, put anything you want to display here. Half for each. No crossing the line.”
He taped a clear dividing line down the middle of the cabinet. For once, both girls reluctantly accepted the compromise.
The absurd competition finally came to a temporary halt.
“Alright, put your things away. Let’s eat.”
Li Yu’an quickly recomposed herself, opening her lunchbox and inviting Yang Yuan to join.
“I prepared some for you too—Miss Bai Zhu, and… Miss Luo Qingyin.”
“Many thanks, Lady Saintess!” Bai Zhu didn’t hesitate, grabbing her portion and digging in.
Though Li Yu’an saw Bai Zhu as a rival, ignoring her entirely made her feel uneasy.
More importantly, sharing food with everyone painted her as kind, considerate, and nurturing in Yang Yuan’s eyes.
Seeing Li Yu’an’s inclusive gesture, Yang Yuan couldn’t help but praise her.
“Luo Qingyin, come out and eat.”
He called to his shadow. After a few ripples, the girl obediently crawled out.
By now, Yang Yuan was used to the girl hiding in his shadow.
She arrived every noon, almost certainly for the lunch Li Yu’an brought.
After lunch, Luo Qingyin held up her phone, displaying a message:
“My sister wants to see you. Go to her now.”
“Back to the archives again…” Yang Yuan muttered to himself.
To avoid suspicion, Luo Jinghong had given herself the fake title of “Archives Specialist.”
Yang Yuan knew she wanted to check on his progress.
But words spoken carelessly are heard with intent.
Li Yu’an, silently eating, overheard the comment. Her mind instantly filled with questions.
Yang Yuan had a close relationship with Luo Qingyin—and now he was going to see her sister?
What was the connection between them? A sense of exclusion and crisis overwhelmed her.
As Yang Yuan and Luo Qingyin walked out, Li Yu’an immediately put down her chopsticks.
She turned to Bai Zhu, who was still battling a chicken leg, and spoke with utmost seriousness.
“Miss Bai Zhu, I’m entrusting you with a vital mission.”
“You must guard this counseling room in my absence. Protect its spiritual boundary from all external forces. Can you do it?”
“Consider it done!” Bai Zhu dropped the chicken leg, wiped her mouth, and stood at attention.
“I swear by the Sacred Blade—I shall defend this place with my life!”
After securing the chuunibyou girl’s loyalty, Li Yu’an quietly followed them out.
Using corners and potted plants as cover, she trailed far behind Yang Yuan and Luo Qingyin.
When she saw them enter the archives, she didn’t approach directly. Instead, she stopped at a corridor corner, checked that no one was around, and slipped into an abandoned equipment room.
Li Yu’an remembered—the ventilation duct here connected to the archives.
She pried open the dusty metal panel on the wall and pressed her ear against the pipe.
From the other end, the voices of Luo Jinghong and Yang Yuan drifted through.
……
“Sit.”
In the archives, Luo Jinghong gestured to the chair across from her.
“How’s it going? Settling in?”
“Alright, I guess. Just… a bit lively.”
After a few casual exchanges, they got straight to the point.
“Yang Yuan, our cooperation is built on trust.”
“I’ve shown you my sincerity. Now, I need to know—what secret have you been hiding all this time?”
Yang Yuan fell silent. His interactions with Luo Jinghong had built a degree of trust.
He knew changing the future alone was impossible. He needed the power and resources of the No. 1 hero—the Prophet.
“Before I tell you… could you use your ability first?”
Luo Jinghong didn’t understand, but complied. She closed her eyes and meditated.
A panel appeared:
[Ability Name: Future Vision]
[Ability User: Luo Jinghong]
[Description: Predict events within the next five seconds.]
[Potential Risk: Each active use consumes an unpredictable amount of the user’s lifespan, depending on duration and depth of foresight.]
[Evolution Status: 1. Can forcibly glimpse further into the future.
2. Can implant visions of the future into another’s dreams through physical contact.]
Yang Yuan wrote every word down on paper.
“My ability is called [Insight]. Whenever a superpowered individual uses their ability in front of me, I can see the full details and weaknesses of their power.”
Luo Jinghong’s eyes widened in astonishment. She hadn’t expected a man like Yang Yuan to possess a superpower.
“And your ability’s side effect…”
Yang Yuan didn’t finish. Luo Jinghong glanced at her curious younger sister and waved her hand.
“Xiao Yin, wait outside. Yang Yuan and I need to talk in private.”
Once Luo Qingyin obediently left and closed the door, Luo Jinghong spoke.
“Yes. The cost is my life. Every use burns away my future.”
“Does Luo Qingyin know?”
“No. I haven’t told her. There’s no need for her to carry this burden with me.”
Yang Yuan understood. Death was a heavy weight for anyone—especially for a beloved younger sister.
“How much lifespan do you have left?”
“I don’t know. But in the major events I’ve foreseen… I’m still alive. That’s enough.”
Meanwhile, Li Yu’an, still eavesdropping, felt her mind go blank.
“Yang Yuan… he’s actually a superpowered individual too? And he can see others’ ability details?”
“Then that means…”
The realization struck her with horror.
She had used her ability in front of Yang Yuan.
“So… he’s known about my ability’s side effect all along?”
Her body tensed uncontrollably. She began imagining Yang Yuan staring at her one night with a knowing, teasing smirk.
“I know all your secrets.”
“Li Yu’an… you wouldn’t want others to know about your ability’s side effect, would you?”
