Chapter 47: New Year Event

Wheein, wheein.

The sound of the hair dryer drying my damp hair drowns out the sound of the television.

My chubby cheeks are filled with discontent because I can’t hear any of the animation sounds.

However, at Amy’s gentle touch, I start to nod off.

The discontent that had been building up in my mouth disappears in an instant.

“Jeff, stay still.”

My head shakes back and forth, but Amy’s hands don’t leave my body still.

“Ugh…”

The moment I slip out of Amy’s arms, my body collapses onto the bed.

My gaze blurs.

I see Shine, who was lying on the bed, being dragged by Amy.

She also couldn’t avoid Amy’s hands.

An unknown smile comes to my face as I see her drying her hair with me.

Shine, who had been wriggling in Amy’s arms, soon gives up and falls flat.

“Amy is having a hard time.”

At that moment, Rain, who had just finished showering alone, said while wiping her hair.

“Do you want to do it too?”

Amy smiled subtly as she watched Rain like that.

Rain’s face instantly turned red.

Her lips were quivering.

A shallow breath escaped her slightly parted mouth as if she was trying to say something.

“No…!”

Rain shook her head and raised her finger toward the sky.

For a moment, she questioned Rain’s sudden behavior, but water droplets began to rise from her damp hair.

The water droplets flying into the sky gathered at Rain’s fingertips.

“Wow….”

As I looked on in admiration, she seemed to sense my gaze and made a confident expression.

“How is it?”

“It’ll be comfortable….”

Rain’s hair looked fluffy as if it had been dried with a hairdryer.

She covered the ball of water gathered in the air with a towel.

The towel absorbed the moisture in an instant and fell to the floor.

“Rain.”

“Huh?”

Amy, who was drying Shine’s hair, said to Rain.

“Could you please help the kids study?”

“Study?”

“Huh.”

I was listening to the conversation between the two, and immediately shook my head to shake off the sleepiness.

I quickly got out of the blanket that was wrapped around my body and walked slowly towards the workbook.

Shine was half asleep, and Rain and Amy were talking so much that they weren’t paying attention to me.

“Will I be able to do well? It’s been so long since I studied that I don’t remember much.”

“Don’t worry too much. All you have to do is grade the workbook.”

“Okay…”

Rain slowly nodded at Amy’s request.

I immediately jumped up and snatched the workbook from the high shelf.

I felt its heavy weight on my fingertips.

I immediately spun my body around.

The centrifugal force of half a turn was transmitted to my fingertips.

Swish! Swish! The end of my strength.

The moment the rotation ended, I let go of the workbook from my hand.

The workbook flew out and crashed into a corner of the room where there were a lot of dolls.

“Jeff?”

“Yes…?”

At that moment, Amy’s voice suddenly came to me.

I turned my stiff head and answered with difficulty.

“What are you doing there?”

Thump thump.

My heart started beating fast.

I wiggled my toes and desperately tried to come up with an excuse.

“Uh…I was trying to drink milk.”

It was a pretty good answer.

I nodded and walked to the refrigerator.

My stiff movements slowly began to relax.

“Me too. I want to drink too.”

At that moment, Shine, who had been sleeping, suddenly woke up and ran to me.

Her flowing white hair gave off a strong shampoo smell.

I walked up to the refrigerator and took out a large carton of cold milk.

Shine ran into the kitchen with a familiar movement and brought a cup to drink the milk.

But the number of cups was different than usual.

“Am I taller now?”

“If Rain’s body flinched at…”

There were three cups in her arms.

“Rain should drink too.”

Shine answered, perhaps sensing my suspicious gaze.

Only then did I nod.

Rain was also short.

Since you have to drink milk to grow taller, it was natural for me to take Rain’s cup, who was short.

“Me…?”

“Yeah.”

Rain got up from her seat with a bewildered expression and came towards us.

Shine, Rain, and I stood facing each other like this and started pouring the milk.

I licked my tongue as I looked at the cup full of milk.

I couldn’t stand the rich scent of milk.

The three of us, who were holding the cups, started drinking the milk without saying who would go first.

Gulp, gulp.

All I could hear was the sound of the milk going down.

Shine, who had finished first, put the cup down.

She licked the milk that was slightly on her lips and said,

“If drinking milk made you grow taller, then Rain would have grown taller like Amy.”

She put down her cup and started staring at the milk carton on the floor.

“More… more!”

She snatched the milk carton and started drinking it all.

Shine and I just stared blankly at Rain’s sudden action.

The contents of the large milk carton all went into her stomach.

Her stomach was gradually bulging.

I reached out and poked Rain’s stomach with my finger.

“Ouch!”

Rain jumped up in surprise, as if startled by the sudden sensation.

At that moment, the milk carton in Rain’s hand flew into the air.

White milk began to scatter in all directions.

Rain also spit out the milk she had been holding in her mouth.

“Ugh.”

The milk carton that had fallen to the floor continued to spill milk out, making a gurgling sound.

The three of us, who were moving to avoid the milk coming toward our feet, began to watch Amy’s expression.

Amy just stared at us without saying a word.

“Rain did it…”

I grabbed Shine’s hand and slowly started to pull myself away.

Rain’s eyes looking at me wavered violently.

I ignored her gaze and sat down in front of the television with Shine.

As if I had never drank milk in the first place.

Amy, who looked at the three of us in turn, sighed deeply and wiped the milk away.

“Anyway, I have to go out for a bit. I’ll leave the kids to study.”

Amy said to Rain before going out the front door.

Rain nodded, sticking out her chest as if asking her to leave it to her.

“I’ll be back before lunchtime.”

Amy left the room with those words.

The three of us were left alone in the room.

The sound coming from the television echoed throughout the room.

“So, shall we study?”

I didn’t answer and kept my mouth shut.

“Where are the workbooks?”

Shine answered Rain’s question.

She pointed to a high shelf.

Rain looked up at the height of the shelf, then pulled a chair next to the table and stood on it.

“Is it here?”

Rain started to carefully look over the shelf.

But she definitely wouldn’t be able to find the workbook.

I hid it!

“It’s not here?”

“It’s over there.”

Rain said as she got down from her chair while looking over the shelf.

I giggled at that sight and ran to Rain’s side.

Shine also climbed up on a chair and looked over the shelf.

But even if Shine went, there was no way he would be able to find it.

“Jeff.”

Shine called me while standing on the chair.

“Huh?”

“You didn’t see the workbook?”

“Yeah. I didn’t.”

“Really?”

Shine likes to study.

I answered, avoiding her gaze, feeling guilty for no reason.

“Uh… Yeah… I didn’t see you today.”

“Really?”

Shine’s voice was full of doubt.

She jumped down from her chair with a small sigh.

“What should we do?”

Rain and Shine were troubled.

The two of them put their heads together and thought for a while.

They started searching all over the room for their workbooks.

“Jeff, help me too.”

Shine said to me, who was blankly watching their movements.

I got up from my seat in surprise and pretended to look for my workbook like the two of them.

Cold sweat ran down my back.

My head started spinning.

How can I spend today safely without studying?

As I walked slowly and thought, I found a slightly open drawer.

“Drawing…!”

“Huh?”

“Drawing study!”

I hastily reached out and opened the drawer.

Inside was a large sketchbook.

I took out the sketchbook, crayons, and various colored pencils and laid them out on the floor.

“Drawing study?”

Shine asked with a puzzled expression.

I nodded.

She said that there was a study period for learning art at school.

I never went, though.

“Rain. Let’s study art.”

Rain made a subtle expression at my words.

“There was definitely an art period, but…”

I reached out and sat Shine and Rain down.

Rain, who had been reluctant, got excited when I put crayons in his hand, and he started drawing.

Shine also lay down on the floor and started drawing.

She started to move her hands for a while and then asked me a question.

“Jeff.”

“Yeah.”

“Jeff doesn’t like studying?”

“Yeah. It’s too hard.”

“Was it that hard?”

“Yeah.”

“I see.”

Shine’s hands, which had been drawing for a while, stopped.

She looked up at me and said,

“If it got a little easier, would I be able to like studying?”

A sudden question.

I, who had been lying on the floor, carefully sat up.

“Well… Maybe I wouldn’t like it more than I do now?”

Shine slowly nodded at my answer.

The pictures the three of them were drawing at the same time were a mess.

Water pouring down from the sky.

A huge mountain of trash.

A pretty house with a red roof.

There were countless people scattered on the street.

“What is this?”

I muttered while looking at the completed drawing.

It was a complete mess.

Anyway, this was the end of my studying.

“Studying is over!”

I jumped up from my seat.

“It’s over already?”

Rain, who had been sitting blankly, looked back at Shine as if to ask if this was okay.

However, Shine just nodded.

I was about to run to the computer right away, but Shine grabbed my arm and stopped me from moving.

“Why?”

“There’s something I didn’t do today, right?”

I began to rack my memory at her words.

Something I didn’t do today?

I just finished studying and training.

What’s left?

“Gymnastics.”

“Ah…!”

Rain and I gaped at Shine’s words.

We had forgotten.

“Gymnastics is very important.”

Rain and I nodded blankly.

Just as Shine had said, gymnastics was very important.

In order to grow tall like Amy, gymnastics was essential.

“Let’s get started.”

We walked to a suitable space and started doing exercises.

One, two.

One, two.

We spun around and stretched our arms and legs.

The gymnastics that I repeated based on my memory seemed quite different from the content of the original YouTube.

“Isn’t this it?”

In the middle of the gymnastics.

When I stopped and spoke, Rain and Shine also stopped moving.

“Isn’t this it?”

“Yeah.”

I went straight to the computer and pressed the power button.

After a while, the computer finished booting up.

I entered YouTube as usual and went to the channel I had subscribed to.

The gymnastics video that I played.

As expected, our gymnastics were quite different from the one in the video.

“Do it again.”

So I started the exercise again from the beginning while watching the video again.
