The afternoon sun bathed the counseling room in golden light. Yang Yuan lounged comfortably, enjoying his leisure time.
But Luo Qingyin, on the other hand, was far from comfortable.
【I’m starving… I can feel my life force draining away…】
After showing her phone to Bai Zhu, Luo Qingyin collapsed onto the table, her eyes locked onto the potted plant in the corner as if seriously considering whether the roots were edible.
“Hold on, Lady Luo Qingyin!” Bai Zhu cheered beside her.
“On the path of the strong, hunger is but the most trivial trial! You must conquer it!”
Luo Qingyin let out a desperate, animalistic growl and lunged, attempting to bite Bai Zhu’s arm in a wild, indiscriminate attack.
“Hey, stop it! The food delivery will be here any second…”
Yang Yuan watched the two girls wrestle while opening his chat with Li Yu’an.
Yang Yuan: 【You’re not coming again today?】
Li Yu’an: 【Yeah, still feeling a bit unwell. Took another day off.】
Yang Yuan: 【Is it serious? Should you see a doctor?】
Li Yu’an: 【Nothing major. Just a slight fever. Thanks for caring.】
Yang Yuan put his phone away, puzzled. Ever since that day, Li Yu’an had grown distant, taking several days off in a row.
But right now, his priority was calming down this starving beast.
“You two, stop fighting—wait, Bai Zhu, don’t start charging your ability!”
Thankfully, the arrival of the yellow-clad delivery rider prevented the disaster.
After lunch, Yang Yuan began packing up to head home. He turned to Bai Zhu.
“I’ve taken the afternoon off too. So… I can’t train with you today.”
“No problem!” Bai Zhu stood tall and proud.
“This afternoon, I have my own mission—to meet a new comrade!”
At 2 PM, on a bustling commercial street, Yang Yuan walked side by side with Su Xiaoyou, their fingers tightly interlaced.
“Ah~ Open wide.”
Su Xiaoyou scooped a spoonful of freshly bought ice cream and playfully offered it to Yang Yuan.
“Tasty, right~”
“Actually pretty good.”
Su Xiaoyou’s eyes crinkled with joy. She brought the spoon back to her own mouth, licking off the last bit of ice cream.
“Ah Yuan…”
Before entering the arcade, Su Xiaoyou suddenly stopped and pulled him back.
“Today… your time belongs to me completely, right?”
“What are you saying? Isn’t my time always yours?”
“Good.”
Su Xiaoyou smiled, satisfied, and planted a kiss on Yang Yuan’s cheek.
For the rest of the afternoon, they played together in the arcade.
From co-op zombie shooters to racing games, and finally squeezing into a tiny photo booth.
The cramped space pressed them close together. When the flash went off, Su Xiaoyou didn’t make a peace sign like other girls.
Instead, she turned, cupped Yang Yuan’s face with possessive force, and kissed him—her strawberry-flavored lips sealing the moment.
This photo, full of ownership and passion, was now permanently captured.
As they stepped out of the arcade, night had fallen.
They carried freshly bought snacks, searching for a quiet spot to enjoy them.
But then, a familiar voice rang out from nearby.
“Hey, isn’t that Lord Yang Yuan?”
Yang Yuan turned to see Bai Zhu in casual clothes, waving energetically.
Beside her stood a girl he’d never seen before.
She was slightly shorter than Bai Zhu—around 150 cm, with a petite, loli-like build. Her skin was a distinctive tan, and her lips curled into a teasing, mischievous smirk.
Her eyes lazily scanned Yang Yuan—and then Su Xiaoyou.
“Bai Zhu? What a coincidence to run into you.”
“Yeah! Didn’t expect to see you here!” Bai Zhu pulled the girl forward.
“Let me introduce you!” she said proudly.
“This is Chun Nana, my fellow Hero Reserve! We just finished our rookie training together. She’s super strong!”
“Hey there~” Chun Nana greeted lazily, her gaze fixed on Yang Yuan, her smirk growing even more playful.
“Hello…”
Before Yang Yuan could finish, Chun Nana leaned in and poked his arm, her tone teasing.
“Been hearing your name a lot from Bamboo here.”
“Big bro Yang Yuan, what kind of magic do you have that makes our little knight so devoted to you?”
“Na Na! Don’t be rude to Lord Yang Yuan!”
Bai Zhu yanked her back.
Unnoticed by them, Su Xiaoyou’s smile had turned icy the moment Chun Nana approached.
She stepped half a pace forward, subtly shielding Yang Yuan behind her, blocking Chun Nana’s line of sight.
“Yang Yuan doesn’t have any special magic. He’s just an honest guy.”
“And we’re about to head home. We don’t have time to chat. If that’s all, we’ll be going.”
With those words—clearly a declaration of ownership—she didn’t wait for a reply. She simply took Yang Yuan’s hand and walked away.
Only after their figures vanished into the crowd did Chun Nana finally look away.
She nudged the still-dazed Bai Zhu with her elbow, speaking slowly.
“Bamboo… the guy you like… has a girl who’s not easy to deal with.”

Late at night, Li Yu’an lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Lately, she’d locked herself at home, too afraid to face Yang Yuan.
The accumulated stress needed release. She stood before the mirror, studying her reflection.
“Does Yang Yuan see me like this? No… no, please don’t…😭”
The more she thought about it, the more panicked she became. She couldn’t bear the idea of Yang Yuan seeing her as a pervert.
Just then, her phone buzzed—a message from Yang Yuan.
[Feeling better?]
Li Yu’an hesitated. How could she reply when she’d just been thinking about him in that way?
[Already fine. Should be back at work tomorrow.]
After much deliberation, she chose a cold, formal reply.
[Good. See you tomorrow.]
[You’ve been gone for days. Luo Qingyin’s lost several pounds from hunger. Bai Zhu misses you too…]
Yang Yuan sent a long message about all the funny things that had happened in her absence.
The warmth in his words slowly melted the shadows in her heart.
Though still uncertain, this act of care gave Li Yu’an resolve.
She had to find out—what kind of image she truly held in Yang Yuan’s heart.
