The Forgotten Past and a New Mandate

Chapter 48626 words6 min read

The scenes before me slowly vanished, plunging me into endless darkness. At this moment, I realized something was amiss. That certainly wasn’t something happening in the present.

‘Was I dreaming now?’

Yet, the hands that had just pounded against an invisible wall still throbbed with a dull ache.

‘Blood Lotus Tianqi…’

My pupils contracted. Six hundred million years ago, Blood Lotus Tianqi was executed. The Dragon Domain and the Heavenly Capital were banished.

Could this be…

Before me, a thread of golden light suddenly began to glow, slowly illuminating a figure whose outline was barely discernible.

It appeared to be a young man.

“What do you feel?”

A clean, crisp male voice spoke. “I feel a great injustice has been done to them,” I answered truthfully, seeing no fault in my words.

“I, too, feel this injustice,” the figure spoke again. “Have you ever thought about helping them?”

I looked at him in surprise. “Events from six hundred million years ago? How could I possibly interfere with something of that magnitude?”

“I’m not asking you to stop that war,” the luminous figure explained, gazing wistfully into the distant darkness. “Rather, I hope you can guide back the Heavenly Capital and the Dragon Domain, which fell during that conflict.”

“Why me?” I was perplexed, a newly ascended deity. It seemed impossible for me to become their savior.

“Because now, you are the only one who can still operate normally in the current world.” His tone carried an unspeakable sorrow.

‘Only? Only me?’ I was dumbfounded. ‘What does that mean?’

“Do you believe that good people cannot be saved?” The luminous figure watched me, seemingly seeing through my heart, and questioned me with a confident, almost challenging tone. “Is becoming indifferent and selfish the only correct way to live in this world?”

Upon hearing that, I was momentarily stunned. My knuckles cracked as I clenched my fists, and past memories caused my eyes to redden.

“No, that can’t be right. Good people absolutely cannot meet such a tragic end.” I spoke, my voice trembling, each word distinct.

“Heh, you haven’t changed a bit,” the luminous figure gazed nostalgically at the boundless darkness. “Go forth without worry. I don’t know the exact method, but you can start by going to the Godfall Domain in the Land of Disorder.”

“I’ve mostly forgotten its precise location, as I am merely a clone. That place was once the battlefield. I believe you can gather some information there.”

With that, the luminous figure began to dissipate. “Tsk tsk, I didn’t expect invading your current mind would still be so strenuous. Oh, and one more thing: Blood Lotus Tianqi isn’t dead.”

“You needn’t worry about lacking a sufficiently powerful combatant by your side. If a Super Deity tries to forcefully kill you, I believe she will intervene. Hmm… I think that’s all. Well then, I believe we shall meet again.”

As he finished speaking, the luminous figure’s disintegration accelerated. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into countless specks of starlight, scattering into nothingness.

“Huh?” ‘He just… vanished like that? He seemed so formidable, yet he disappeared without even sharing the truly useful information?’

However, upon closer reflection, it seemed I had, in a moment of impulse, agreed to something monumental. And I had learned several other significant, if vague, things.

But then again, it wasn’t that I wouldn’t do it. ‘If you don’t explain anything clearly, how am I supposed to know what to do?’

Therefore, I decided I would search for that so-called Godfall Domain when I had the time. Swiftly, I found an excuse for my own procrastination.

“Bang—” A crisp, clear sound of glass shattering echoed. The darkness before my eyes slowly receded.
