The fel whip sliced through the air, violently flinging a trapped Lesser Horned Beast against a pine trunk.
Pine needles and accumulated snow shook loose and cascaded down. The beast lay motionless, buried beneath the snow, as a trickle of crimson slowly seeped from its body, melting the pristine white around it.
The petite half-blood girl ceased her pursuit. She moved through the dimly lit pine forest, approaching the Lesser Horned Beast while simultaneously scanning her surroundings.
No other fleeing Lesser Horned Beasts were visible nearby; most had vanished without a trace.
Daphne possessed only two damaging spells, ‘Prayer’ and ‘Whip of Pain,’ both constrained by her limited mana.
With a mere 10 mana points, and her ‘Night Stream’ trait’s mana-saving effect still negligible, ten lashes of her whip would completely drain her reserves. Even exerting her utmost, she had only managed to dispatch six Lesser Horned Beasts, a rather inefficient clearing rate.
Given her limited circumstances, she lamented not having crafted a full satchel of mana potions before venturing here. Otherwise, these Lesser Horned Beasts would have experienced the equivalent of a hundred free draws upon logging in.
Mana could naturally regenerate through waiting or sleep. Moreover, if mana wasn’t expended for a period while below the maximum capacity, a ‘Mana Repose’ buff would activate, accelerating its natural recovery rate.
As her mana reserves were now depleted, Daphne’s experience hunt for the day was effectively over.
Just as she anticipated, and much like in a game, directly defeating enemies granted experience points that accumulated in her character’s experience pool. Daphne could see the notifications for earned experience displayed on the orb’s interface.
[Defeated Lesser Horned Beast Ravager, gained 50 experience from combat]
[Used spell ‘Whip of Pain’, gained 1 experience from proficiency increase]
[Experience Pool: 820 (100 required for next level)]
Daphne found the displayed number peculiar. She opened her attribute panel to double-check, but the result remained unchanged; her eyes were not deceiving her.
Six Lesser Horned Beasts, each yielding 50 experience, totaled 300 experience. The proficiency experience gained from using her class spell, ‘Whip of Pain,’ ten times accounted for 10 experience. Lastly, assisting in the kill of a Horned Beast provided one-fifth of 500 experience, which was 100 experience.
‘By any calculation, it should be 410 experience,’ she mused.
“Ugh… I can’t be bothered to calculate it,” Daphne murmured, her voice laced with a delicate gasp. She found herself unable to continue, stopping to lean against a nearby pine tree. “This body… it’s simply impossible to run in.”
The moment her snowy velvet cloak touched the trunk, frost began to spread. The pine tree behind Daphne was almost instantly encased entirely in ice, yet she paid it no mind.
Indeed, it was her intervention that had saved Edith. The active skill inherent to her legendary cloak had produced an unforeseen effect; the ‘Frost’ debuff’s delay had granted Edith just enough time to complete her incantations and rune drawing, thus earning Daphne the assist experience for the Horned Beast kill.
After confirming Edith’s safety, Daphne had begun hunting the fleeing Lesser Horned Beasts to replenish her experience pool.
However, they were incredibly swift, forcing Daphne into a desperate chase. The consequences of running while dragging a body with ten times the normal sensitivity were, predictably, intense.
Her cloak and skirt were crumpled and disheveled, clutched by restless hands. Daphne struggled to suppress any strange sounds, yet found herself uncontrollably wanting to reach down and touch.
It was only when she noticed her hand had unconsciously gripped her skirt hem, pulling it up to her inner thigh, that the girl abruptly snapped back to reality.
“I… I can’t be thinking of doing that here…”
Daphne gazed around, bewildered and helpless. The dim pine forest was silent, the ground covered in dull white snow, overgrown with bushes.
Even if no one saw her, performing such acts in this desolate wilderness would be utterly perverse.
‘Becoming a girl is one thing,’ she thought. ‘But if I turn into a pervert as well, my life is practically over.’
However, her renewed awareness could not extinguish the fiery desire ignited by her heightened sensitivity. Daphne soon found herself clamping her thighs together, rubbing them incessantly, and emitting soft, delicate moans.
“Could it be… because of the MOD…?” she suddenly recalled. “Something else increased along with my sensitivity… and that is…”
At the time, the sensations had been too overwhelming for Daphne to pay attention, but upon closer reflection, a prompt had indeed flickered by: experience gain efficiency also increased in correlation with sensitivity.
Driven by a desire for confirmation, the half-blood girl forcibly suppressed the urge to indulge her sensitive areas and opened her interface to view the R18 MOD screen.
[Module: Sensitivity Surge Lv1]
[Rich and intense sensations also mean learning lessons more easily from pain]
[Grants all body parts sensitivity equal to ○ organs, overall increasing full-body sensitivity, experience gain efficiency increases with module level]
[Affected Areas: Left Foot, Left Leg, Right Foot, Right Leg, Lower Abdomen, Waist, Back, Left Shoulder, Right Shoulder]
[Sensitivity: 1000%]
[Experience Gain Efficiency: 200%]
She had indeed remembered correctly.
Directly beneath ‘Sensitivity: 1000%’ was ‘Experience Gain Efficiency: 200%.’ It seemed like either a compensation for the extreme sensitivity or a cost for the increased experience gain. In any case, the MOD wasn’t entirely detrimental to Daphne.
However, as a seasoned gamer, her attention quickly fixated on the ‘Lv1’ designation.
This implied that the module could be further upgraded, trading even greater sensitivity for even higher experience gain efficiency. It sounded akin to making a pact with the devil.
Anyone who had played ‘COG’ understood the paramount importance of experience gain efficiency; the ability to level up rapidly was a massive advantage in itself.
‘But what good would high experience gain efficiency be if I ended up a perverted idiot who only knew how to be horny?’
‘I should consider upgrading this, but not excessively,’ she resolved.
For now, Daphne didn’t know how to upgrade the module, nor was she in any hurry. After all, she certainly wasn’t a pervert desperate to transform herself into a ‘fluffball’.
‘Even as a girl, I must be a dignified and elegant lady,’ she thought. ‘At least in front of others, I need to appear that way.’
With the experience values now confirmed as accurate, it was time to proceed with leveling up and allocating her attribute points.
‘COG’ levels didn’t increase automatically; accumulated experience from the experience pool had to be spent to raise either class levels or nourish one’s faith. Currently, Daphne had no plans to advance her faith, so prioritizing her class level was the immediate goal.
Just then, the tranquil silence of the forest was abruptly broken by the crunching sound of twigs underfoot. Someone was approaching.
Daphne’s heart seized. She hastily closed her interface and ducked behind the tree, but the frost-covered pine was far too conspicuous. Her actions were little more than an attempt to ‘bury her ears while stealing a bell’.
“I smell you, you little pervert,” a voice, cold as ice, declared. “I know you’re there. You can’t escape.”
That voice, as sharp and indifferent as a winter’s frost wind, was all too familiar to Daphne. Her heart hammered against her ribs, threatening to burst free.
Her legs felt like jelly, unable to move. Her mana was depleted, leaving her powerless to resist. There was nowhere to hide, even with her eyes wide open.
The very last person she wanted to encounter in this predicament had, against all odds, appeared.
‘How did she track me all the way here!?’
