Letia opened the door, and standing outside was a petite, adorable fox-girl.
Letia was caught off guard.
She had been ready for an attack the moment she opened the door, even preparing a defensive spell — but what greeted her was a cute little fox-girl?
Lily was equally stunned, staring at the girl in bewilderment.
The girl had a petite, charming figure, fluffy ears and a bushy tail.
She held a heart-shaped box of chocolates in her arms, her cheeks blushing as she shyly looked at Letia with a gaze full of affection.
“Letia-sister…”
Mira took several deep breaths before finally meeting Letia’s eyes with determination.
“I… I… I like you!”
Mira shouted at the top of her lungs, so loudly that even the neighbors could hear her clearly.
“Ha?” Letia was dumbfounded.
“Y-you like me?”
“I’ve always been in love with you, Letia-sister!” Mira’s eyes brimmed with tears as she poured out her feelings.
“Ever since you saved me, I’ve wanted to belong to you.
I love you so much I can’t help myself.
I don’t even know what words to use — I just want to convey my feelings to you… Letia-sister, I like you!”
Mira closed her eyes and pushed the heart-shaped chocolate into Letia’s hands.
Letia stared blankly, glancing at Mira, then at the chocolate, completely unsure what to do.
“Wait… let me make sure… you’re not mistaking me for someone else, right?”
“No.
The one I love is the dragon princess — you, Letia-sister!”
“Uh… well, the name and identity match…”
Letia rubbed her temples, trying hard to recall, but no matter how much she thought, she couldn’t remember who the girl in front of her was.
“So you really forgot about me…”
“Don’t worry, I’m still thinking…”
Letia felt no excitement at all about the girl’s confession — if anything, she was a little troubled.
But her dragon pride urged her to at least remember the girl’s name.
After all, the girl had come to confess so earnestly.
If she couldn’t even recall her, wouldn’t that be far too rude?
Unfortunately, even after much thought, nothing came to mind.
Letia was starting to feel desperate.
“Um…” Letia asked cautiously, “when did we meet?”
“Five hundred years ago.
It was a bright, cloudless morning…”
“A bright, cloudless morning?”
Scenes from that time flashed in Letia’s mind.
“Oh… that was when those foolish adventurers tried to slay a dragon to prove their glory.
As a dragon, of course I had to teach those fools a lesson…”
“What are you talking about!” Mira shouted in frustration.
“There was no dragon-slayer incident!”
“Ah… sorry, I must have remembered wrong…”
“Well, it’s been five hundred years.
It’s understandable that you forgot,” Mira said shyly, pressing her hands to her flushed cheeks.
“Back then I stepped on a hunting trap and couldn’t get out on my own.
It was you, Letia-sister, who saved me and even healed my wounds!”
“Uh… oh… o-oh!…”
Letia pretended to look as if she suddenly remembered, but in truth, nothing came to mind.
Stepped on a hunting trap?
This girl?
Letia could sense the astonishing magic power within Mira — far stronger even than that of an S-class adventurer.
Such a powerful being caught by a mere hunting trap and unable to escape?
Was this some kind of joke?
“It’s alright if you don’t remember, Sister.
Back then, I was just a little fox.”
“Oh… so you were a little fox at that time!”
Still, she couldn’t recall.
Letia had saved countless small creatures over the centuries.
After five hundred years, who could remember every little incident?
But she didn’t want to hurt the girl’s feelings, so she put on an understanding expression and gently patted Mira’s head.
“Do you remember me now, Sister?” Mira asked, her ears twitching happily.
“I didn’t expect you’d be able to take on human form.”
“Hehe, I worked so hard to cultivate myself — all so I could marry you, Letia-sister!”
Letia looked troubled and turned slightly toward Lily for help, but Lily only shook her head, equally unsure what to do.
“I’m sorry,” Letia said seriously, looking straight at Mira.
“I can’t accept your confession, because I already have someone I love.”
“Eh?
You… already have someone you like?”
“Yes.
That person is Lily.”
Letia smiled at Lily, her eyes carrying a hint of playful mischief.
Mira didn’t notice it, but Lily caught it perfectly.
As expected — that villain still couldn’t resist teasing her even at a time like this!
“That’s right!” Lily said, playing along with a serious face.
“I’m already together with Letia-sister, so you mustn’t try to come between us.”
“Together… you actually said ‘together’!…”
Mira clenched her small fists, silently exuding a dangerous aura.
Lily instinctively stepped back a few paces, feeling that Mira might explode in anger at any moment.
Letia stepped in front of Lily, watching Mira warily.
If Mira launched an attack, she would be able to protect Lily and their daughter immediately.
Mira fought hard to hold back her emotions.
Now was not the time to lose control.
She knew that the relationship between Letia and Lily wasn’t truly harmonious.
There was a deep rift between them.
There was no need for Mira to act rashly.
If she proceeded step by step and exposed Lily’s façade, their fragile bond would fall apart on its own.
Perhaps Letia would dislike her for it, but Mira had already made up her mind — even if Letia hated her, she would still protect Letia’s happiness.
Mira believed Letia would one day understand her true intentions.
If she acted recklessly now and attacked Lily, Letia would only drive her away.
Then she would never get close again, let alone reveal Lily’s pretended affection.
She had to keep calm and not ruin everything herself.
First, she had to act friendly, keep the rival off guard, and wait for the right moment to strike.
So Mira lifted her head and smiled sweetly, a complete contrast to her earlier demeanor.
“So this is Lily-sister?”
Mira quickly trotted over to Lily, holding her hand warmly.
“Sister is so cute — no wonder you won Letia-sister’s heart!”
“Uh… th-thank you for the compliment…”
“By the way, my name is Mira!” she said proudly, puffing out her small chest.
“You can call me Mira, or just Mira-little-sister!”
“Uh… alright… Mira-little-sister…”
Seeing Mira’s polite smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, Lily raised her guard completely.
She had expected the fox-girl to attack, but Mira didn’t make a single move.
Even so, she couldn’t afford to relax — who knew what this girl was really planning?
Come to think of it, who was this girl anyway?
Why had she suddenly rushed in with a confession?
Wait… Lily remembered hearing Aunt Karina mention something before…
“I not only have to prepare for the wedding, but also to soothe a fox-girl who seems to have fallen for Letia at first sight and has always wanted to marry her.”
Could it be… that the Mira standing before her was that very fox-girl who had been secretly in love all this time?
