Chapter 5: The Five Meisters

The five Masters urgently gathered to stop Jeon Jeon Seol’s winning streak.

From the first game, they succeeded in sniping Jeon Jeon Seol.

With Jeon Jeon Seol’s matchmaking rating soaring to levels where finding a suitable opponent in regular games became difficult, it was an ideal condition for targeting if people moved with the same intent.

[Title: Successful snipe on Jeon Jeon Seol—Ending the streak!]

“Broadcast of five Masters bringing justice to a smurf.”

Excited, Usum immediately started streaming and promoted the link in the gallery.

Usum’s channel, which for months struggled to break past 1-2 average viewers, finally saw an opportunity.

Claiming to be a skilled streamer wasn’t enough when there were many streamers in higher tiers.

Nor did he have any other particular charm to attract viewers.

But isn’t life often about being in the right place at the right time?

Now, with everyone in the gallery focused on Jeon Jeon Seol, imagine taking down the infamous Jeon Jeon Seol!

A meteoric rise seemed inevitable.

Laughing at his own fantasy, Usum muttered.

<“You’re creatively ugly, lol.”>

<“Is the person laughing on camera a Haewoe Mask in disguise?”>

<“Five Masters assembled for one newbie? How pathetic, lol.”>

“That record isn’t newbie-level! Clearly, it’s a smurf account.”

<“You said 30 wins was easy for a smurf but impossible for a newbie. Which is it now?”>

“Of course, it’s easy if it’s a smurf! Newbies can’t do that!”

Normally, Usum would have banned these trolling comments, but tonight he endured them.

Soon, those jeers would surely turn into cheers.

“Enemy is dominating!”

“Huh?”

Distracted by the broadcast, Usum suddenly realized Jeon Jeon Seol had already scored a 3-0 kill streak.

[TryitTV Usum: What are you guys doing?]

[TryitTV Usum: Why are you feeding?]

This was a party of five Masters.

A group gathered specifically to take down Jeon Jeon Seol.

And yet, how had they given up three kills already, barely minutes into the game?

[Banana Ate a Banana: What do you mean, what are we doing?]

[Banana Ate a Banana: What are YOU doing?]

[Banana Ate a Banana: Your pathing is trash. Are you even a Master?]

[Banana Ate a Banana: Are you account boosting?]

[Banana Ate a Banana: Is this your first game?]

There was a notable difference in tendencies between lower and higher-tier players.

Lower-tier players, when blaming teammates, would focus entirely on typing and stop playing.

Higher-tier players, when blaming teammates, would type furiously while still playing.

Banana Ate a Banana was arguing via chat while continuing to play diligently.

But what’s the use of effort without skill?

“Enemy is unstoppable!”

Jeon Jeon Seol had now achieved a 5-kill streak.

<“Hey, stop farming and ward!”>

<“What are you doing to let them get five kills?”>

<“Forget your screen—show Jeon Jeon Seol’s gameplay, lol!”>

The comments were harsh, but the reality of the situation was absurd.

Teamfight Arena is a game where early movements are extremely crucial due to a random factor:

Champions spawn randomly at ten starting points.

Depending on whether you spawn in a contested or allied area, the flow of the early game can completely change.

Which neutral monsters to take, whether to prioritize farming or engaging in fights—these decisions had to be made the moment the game began.

A player had to evaluate all these factors, plan their route, and set off immediately.

Honestly, there was no way to capture the enemy’s perspective on camera; vision wasn’t shared between teams.

Expecting him to somehow showcase the enemies that occasionally appeared in allied vision was simply unreasonable.

<“Why start a stream if all you’ll do is farm?”>

<“Classic Silver-tier gameplay, lol.”>

<“Feels like my team is filled with double noobs. Might as well quit.”>

Usum, as a streamer, had deliberately chosen a late-game carry champion to create impressive footage.

The plan was for the team’s early-game fighters to suppress Jeon Jeon Seol’s growth while Usum carried in the late game, crafting a glorious highlight reel.

But the incompetent teammates kept dying to Jeon Jeon Seol, pushing the game toward an early end before Usum could even make a mark.

‘These idiots!’

“Enemy is legendary!”

A loud announcement rang out—an alert triggered when a player achieved 8 consecutive kills without dying.

There was no need to confirm who it was. It was Jeon Jeon Seol.

Usum’s thoughts and words began to merge in frustration.

‘What a terrible performance!’

“What the hell are you doing? Damn it!”

His inner thoughts escaped as a shout.

<“LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.”>

<“Where’s the guy who said he’d end Jeon Jeon Seol’s streak?”>

<“He’s probably on a train to the U.S. ^o^”>

<“The five Masters—what a joke!”>

<“Even five Masters couldn’t stop them.”>

<“Who is this person?”>

<“Could it really be a supernova-level newbie? Considering what they said to Victory, they seem like a newbie.”>

<“If a newbie has this talent, shouldn’t they go pro?”>

This wasn’t right.

The praise and admiration that should have been directed at Usum were all going to Jeon Jeon Seol.

Grinding his teeth, Usum tried to focus.

[DefendVictory: Join the Twin Swords fight.]

[DefendVictory: Other than Jeon Jeon Seol, their team is full of low-level players.]

[DefendVictory: Just play 5v5, and we’ll win.]

[TryitTV Usum: Move to the Spire.]

Another random element of Teamfight Arena came into play—the Capture Event, which starts at the 5-minute mark.

The map has four spires in the northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast corners.

At the 5-minute mark, one of these spires is activated.

Holding it at the 10-minute mark grants each team member 500 gold and 50% of their current level’s experience.

This system prevents games from becoming stale through constant running and forces players to adapt their strategies each match.

This game’s activated spire was in the northeast.

Usum headed toward the spire, expecting a teamfight.

Suddenly, Jeon Jeon Seol’s champion appeared.

A Phantom Mage, a wizard champion capable of summoning illusions.

Under a barrage of attacks, Usum’s late-game carry, a fragile Twin Sword Fighter, melted almost instantly.

“Enemy is legendary!”

[TryitTV Usum: ****]

[TryitTV Usum: You let them scale? Are you all useless?]

[TryitTV Usum: Didn’t you place wards? No vision? Weren’t we regrouping for the fight? Damn it!]

[DefendVictory: There are three wards there. You got caught moving through visible areas.]

[BananaAteBanana: Is the game over?]

[DefendVictory: Probably.]

<“Look at this disaster in the chat, LOL.”>

<“Now I understand why they’re a low-tier streamer.”>

<“Classic Bronze-tier decision-making.”>

<“Their performance keeps getting worse, lolololol.”>

<“Is Phantom Mage OP? They’re trash-tier in my rank.”>

<“Flashy trash champion.”>

<“But Jeon Jeon Seol is skilled.”>

<“They would’ve done even better with another champion.”>

<“Did it just look like they triggered Multi-Illusions, or am I mistaken?”>

<“I saw it too—there were three clones.”>

<“Can’t believe someone actually picked that trash trait, lololol.”>

<“Are they just a montage chaser?”>

<“A mysterious Chinese master?”>

<“Nope, they’re genuinely skilled—not just some montage chaser but the main character of the highlights.”>

In Teamfight Arena, players can choose traits at levels 1, 6, 11, and 16.

Each trait offers two options, meaning a champion can be built in 2x2x2x2 = 16 different ways.

The most critical decision is often the level 6 ultimate trait.

The Phantom Mage’s ultimate creates an illusion at a designated location.

The illusion can be controlled and mimics the caster’s abilities.

When its health drops to zero or its duration ends, it explodes, dealing area damage in a small radius.

The ultimate’s two traits are Targeted Explosion and Multi-Illusions.

Targeted Explosion directs the final blast to a specific target, turning a hard-to-hit skill shot into a guaranteed hit.

Multi-Illusions doubles the number of illusions but reduces their damage to 70%.

Isn’t it broken if all the damage adds up to 140%?

That’s what someone thought.

That someone being Jeon Jeon Seol.

And since they actually managed to hit everything, it was powerful.

Most players can’t land all the hits, though, due to the difficulty of controlling everything.

As a result, Phantom Mage players typically choose Targeted Explosion as the standard option.

Multi-Illusions was something you’d only see in highlight reels, like those of a famous Chinese Phantom Mage master on YouTube.

“Defeat!”

The five Masters, who had suffered losses from the start, couldn’t recover and were utterly crushed.

The audience erupted in cheers as they witnessed the birth of a new legend.

<“Gotta edit this into a highlight reel, lololol.”>

<“Jeon Jeon Seol! Jeon Jeon Seol! Jeon Jeon Seol!”>

<“So they weren’t trying to break their streak but to create their montage?”>

<“Wow, Jeon Jeon Seol really is amazing.”>

<“Bronze = Silver = Gold = Plat = Dia = Master. Proven again today.”>

<“They used to call themselves Masters, but now they can’t even hang out on the forum anymore, lol.”>

<“Want to bet your forum account? (Actual quote!)”>

<“Did they really do that stuff? LOL.”>

<“Usum, you clown!”>

“It’s just the first match, and I wasn’t warmed up. We’ll win the next one.”

That cheering should have been for me.

Those insults should have been directed at Jeon Jeon Seol.

I can’t leave after being humiliated like this.

Right now, Jeon Jeon Seol is the protagonist, and I’m just an extra.

I need to make a comeback—somehow!

I have to!

If I don’t, I’ll be too embarrassed to show up on the forum again
