Roar!
The moment Crossga resurrected, its hatred for Yue Wu was palpable. It lunged with a claw at Yue Wu’s back, but Yue Wu narrowly evaded it with a blink.
“Phew~ That was a narrow escape.”
“You scared me to death.”
“See? Wasn’t that dangerous?”
“Yes, it was terrifying.”
“So, will you still dare to run around recklessly?”
“Never again, never again.”
Having learned her lesson, Hilya Mycenae became a bit more obedient, carrying Xiao Qing far away from the danger.
“That’s better.” Yue Wu nodded in satisfaction.
Peerless Swordsmanship, activated.
Sword Control Art, activated.
Fatal Strike, activated.
Two-Handed Sword, activated.
“Critical Blow.”
Four passive skills and one enhancement—a total of five abilities were unleashed simultaneously.
“Ten should be enough.” Yue Wu drew ten blades; one was the knight’s sword he had used in the ruins. He gripped a sword with only a hilt, its blade unseen, while the other nine swords hovered behind him.
“This feels pretty good,” he mused. “I look incredibly cool.”
Yue Wu did not immediately launch an attack. Instead, he indulged in admiring the swords hovering behind him.
“I say, could you perhaps wait a moment?” Crossga’s sudden attack abruptly ended Yue Wu’s moment of self-admiration.
With Peerless Swordsmanship at its max level, Yue Wu’s swordsmanship had reached the absolute pinnacle of this world. With a mere flick of his wrist, the sword in his hand and the nine hovering behind him transformed into countless streaks of sword light, instantly severing Crossga’s arm into countless pieces.
“Magnificent! Truly magnificent!” Yue Wu had completely fallen in love with the sensation of controlling swords.
Roar!
Crossga, its arm severed, suddenly went berserk. It raised its single remaining arm and relentlessly pounded the ground.
The entire island began to quake violently. The ground beneath Crossga suddenly collapsed, and even Hilya Mycenae, who was further away, couldn’t avoid falling. Fortunately, Yue Wu caught her just in time.
“Has this fellow gone mad?” Yue Wu wondered. “It was just one arm I severed. Surely it will grow back soon enough.”
Hovering in the air, Yue Wu watched as the entire island’s surface crumbled. Beneath the earth, Crossga continued to wildly swing its solitary arm, destroying underground altars and other structures.
“Stay here for now and don’t move recklessly.”
After enchanting Hilya Mycenae with levitation and a protective barrier, Yue Wu plunged downwards.
“System, calculate Crossga’s instant death probability for me, and also calculate my chances of inflicting instant death upon it.”
‘[Searching and calculating…]’
“Mhm.”
Yue Wu landed and struck Crossga directly, leaving a deep gash on its chest. With his left hand, he summoned a sword from behind him into his grasp, and with another flick of his left wrist, he added a second gash to its chest.
“Calibur!”
After delivering the second strike, Yue Wu’s dual swords instantly transformed into a single knight’s sword in his grip. He gathered magic and unleashed an upward slash, and Crossga bore the full brunt of this attack at close range.
Boom!
Though Crossga was obliterated by Yue Wu’s strike, its recovery speed this time was remarkably swift. However, the state of its recovery offered Yue Wu a glimmer of opportunity.
“Its right arm hasn’t regenerated?”
“System, what are the results?”
‘[Calculation complete. Crossga’s instant death probability is forty percent. You have fifteen optimal methods to instantly kill the target.]’
“List these fifteen methods.”
‘[Compiling…]’
“The first method seems quite good. I’ll go with that one.”
“I recall this sword being Coco’s spoils of war,” Yue Wu mused. “It is indeed capable of dealing with Crossga’s immortality, and more than sufficient.”
Yue Wu released the knight’s sword in his hand. A seemingly ordinary long-handled rapier materialized in his grasp.
Item: Ten-Fist Sword
Rank: Super Divine Artifact
Type: Equipment (Sword)
Description: This is the personal sword of an Eastern deity, possessing the ability to seal anything.
“Though I’d very much like to continue our fight, it’s getting late,” Yue Wu declared. “If I return any later, that girl will be unable to sleep, worrying about my absence.”
A brilliant full moon hung high in the night sky. If Yue Wu had a watch, he would have known the exact time, but he possessed a system, and the system displayed the time.
Crossga sensed an intense feeling of danger emanating from the sword in Yue Wu’s hand. It turned and chose to flee.
“What difference would even a minute of head start make?”
Yue Wu first made a subtle movement with his right hand, gripping the Ten-Fist Sword. The very next second, he appeared beside Crossga, his speed perfectly matching its own.
Bang!
Crossga swung its left arm, directly slamming Yue Wu against a wall. A hole was indeed smashed into the wall, yet there was no trace of Yue Wu.
“I’ll call this move the ‘Handsome Draw Slash’.”
Yue Wu appeared in front of Crossga, his back to it, with nine swords still hovering behind him. He stood there, performing the motion of sheathing the Ten-Fist Sword.
However, the moment Yue Wu finished speaking and completing his action, Crossga suddenly became immobile.
“All things possess a spirit,” Yue Wu murmured. “Without a soul, they are ultimately just empty shells.”
Yue Wu turned around to face the lifeless Crossga. In the very instant Crossga had attacked earlier, Yue Wu had used the Ten-Fist Sword to sever and seal its soul, an act tantamount to an instant kill.
“Rest eternally beneath the sea, alongside this island.”
Yue Wu ascended into the air, retrieving the world-class artifact, the Codex of Cosmic Truth. He activated the Codex’s power upon the island.
“Let’s go. It’s quite late,” Yue Wu said. “I’ll take you somewhere to rest for the night.”
Yue Wu carried Hilya Mycenae away from above the island. Shortly after they departed, the clouds in the sky seemed to part, and a massive meteor descended from above. Its immense size was enough to completely cover the entire island.
CRASH!
The island was submerged overnight. In its place, a colossal mountain suddenly emerged from the sea. By morning, it would likely spark widespread discussion across the entire European continent and draw the attention of other continents as well.
****
Yue Wu stood at his doorstep, accompanied by the talkative, mischievous Hilya Mycenae. As his current identity was Merlin, he couldn’t simply teleport inside. Thus, Yue Wu chose to knock.
“Coming!”
Upon returning home today, Jeanne D’Arc had been worried about Yue Wu and Xiao Qing. She had even gone to the academy to ask Lucy about Yue Wu’s whereabouts but had found no leads. She hadn’t eaten dinner, waiting anxiously at home for Yue Wu’s return.
When Jeanne D’Arc opened the door, a white-robed mage stood outside, accompanied by a girl clutching a small fox.
“Apologies for the late disturbance. Do you still remember me?”
“You’re Merlin?”
“Yes. This child will stay with you temporarily. I’ll come to pick her up tomorrow.”
“That’s fine, but do you know my brother’s whereabouts?”
“He’s out on a mission. He should be back soon.”
“Honestly, leaving without a word and making me worry so much.”
“Is that so? Heh heh.”
“Would you like to come in for a moment?”
“No, I still have matters to attend to.”
With that, Yue Wu entrusted Hilya Mycenae to Jeanne D’Arc’s care for the night, promising to return for her tomorrow. Hilya Mycenae, without objection, readily agreed.
