Join the ServerDeep in the night, Chen Zeyu’s palm suddenly felt scorching hot.
‘Eh? Is it on fire?’
Chen Zeyu roused herself from a light slumber, disoriented.
She noticed the white flame had ignited at some point, its tendrils urgently indicating a direction.
“What’s wrong with you, just popping out?” Chen Zeyu sat up from the empty hospital bed, where she had just managed to drift off.
The white flame puffed twice, as if conveying something of great importance.
“You want me to go out?” Chen Zeyu slowly raised her palm, and the flame actually flickered outwards.
“Uh… go where?”
The white flame pointed its outer tendril towards the door, as if guiding her.
She truly couldn’t fathom what this flame intended.
Chen Zeyu quietly slipped off the bed.
Taking care not to disturb Evetti and Yang Liying, she tiptoed into the corridor.
“Shrink down a bit, don’t let anyone see you.”
Chen Zeyu pressed her back against the door, glancing around, while her other hand shielded the white flame.
The white flame diminished in size, now no larger than a fingernail.
“Where to? Lead the way.” Chen Zeyu moved her hand.
The white flame pointed across the corridor, and Chen Zeyu followed its silent guidance, slowly walking forward.
A peculiar sensation tingled.
‘Eh? This feeling is…?’
Chen Zeyu suddenly felt an innate sense of direction towards a specific target within her heart.
It was like an extra sensory ability, akin to the principle of smell.
“Is there something important there?” Chen Zeyu paused, asking the white flame.
The white flame puffed several times in rapid succession, leaving no room for doubt.
“But that looks like… Sun Baihai’s room.”
From a distance, Chen Zeyu could see the hospital room door, where two conspicuous lackeys stood stiffly.
The white flame tilted its body, extending two fiery tendrils like arms, mimicking the act of sleeping.
‘They’re asleep?’
Chen Zeyu approached cautiously, her skepticism growing.
Indeed, the two lackeys were slumped against opposite sides of the door, their snores rising and falling in unison.
They had managed to fall asleep standing up.
‘These two hardly seem loyal to Sun Baihai. I’m going in.’
Chen Zeyu easily navigated the simple “checkpoint.”
She saw Sun Baihai’s bed, shielded by a pale blue curtain.
“Wait… you want me to see Sun Baihai?”
Chen Zeyu whispered, her voice barely audible, but the white flame nodded decisively.
“I already beat him up earlier today; do I need to finish him off?” Chen Zeyu asked again, her other fist unconsciously clenching.
‘Finishing blows are my specialty!’
The white flame, sensing Chen Zeyu’s intention to act, shook its head vigorously.
“Then what do you want? Hurry up, or I’m leaving.” Chen Zeyu frowned, unclenching her fist.
Though expressionless, the white flame paused, conveying a sense of helplessness.
Then, it extended two flame-like tendrils, slowly pulling back the bed curtain.
Sun Baihai lay curled on the hospital bed, his brows deeply furrowed.
His expression suggested he was being choked, unable to breathe, and the back of his clothes appeared subtly damp.
‘Huh, this guy doesn’t look so good, does he?’
‘Is it the pain from the surgery or nightmares?’
Chen Zeyu couldn’t help but cover her mouth to stifle a laugh.
It was immensely gratifying to see such a scoundrel suffer.
So, the white flame had called her to witness something so amusing.
The white flame remained blank, as if speechless.
It continued to touch Sun Baihai’s forehead with its two fiery tendrils.
The tendrils pulsed with light, appearing to absorb something.
“What are you doing? Eating his soul?”
Chen Zeyu reached out to grasp it, intending to ask for clarification, but an ethereal figure flashed within the white flame’s tendrils.
A tiny person dressed in pink?
Before Chen Zeyu could clearly discern it, the shadow of the tiny figure stood in her palm, like an ultra-miniature figurine.
Then, like a pump, the white flame continuously extracted miniature, humanoid presences from Sun Baihai’s mind.
They were all girls, most of them very young.
‘My goodness? So many people?’
Chen Zeyu gazed at the rows of “mini-figurines” in her palm.
Each one was beautiful, with distinct features.
The white flame seemed to have finished its task.
Its tendrils retracted from Sun Baihai’s forehead, and his expression immediately eased considerably.
“Tsk! Who told you to heal him? Bad.” Chen Zeyu quietly chided the white flame.
How could it betray her and help an enemy?
Doctors should differentiate between treating good people and bad people!
The white flame was speechless once more.
It turned, gesturing for Chen Zeyu to leave quickly.
“Uh… Young Master Sun, we’ll guard the door well.” A lackey suddenly mumbled.
‘He woke up!’
Chen Zeyu jumped in surprise, but the lackey at the door merely swayed, then slumped back into sleep.
‘Damn! You even talk in your sleep!’
Chen Zeyu glared fiercely at the lackey, then quietly exited the room.
In her clenched hand, the white flame’s radiance enveloped the figures of the girls.
Back outside Yang Liying’s hospital room, Chen Zeyu leaned against the door, sighing in relief.
She was about to question the white flame about its actions when a light, ethereal hand reached out from behind her.
It touched her shoulder.
“What were you running off to do?”
“Mmph!”
Chen Zeyu flinched at the sudden touch.
She turned to find Evetti standing there in pink pajamas.
“Sneaking out in the middle of the night to do something shady? Why are you so jumpy?” Evetti crossed her arms, her thin pajamas somewhat translucent.
“No!”
“The white flame woke me up and told me to get something from Sun Baihai’s room.”
Chen Zeyu extended her right hand, where the white flame still swirled around the group of tiny figures.
“Come in, let me see.”
Evetti pulled Chen Zeyu inside.
She rubbed her eyes to fully awaken, then carefully observed the small figures enveloped by the white flame.
After a few minutes, Evetti’s eyes narrowed with a hint of disbelief.
“You collected so many faint souls?”
“Souls? It gathered them from Sun Baihai.” Chen Zeyu held up the white flame for display.
“From Sun Baihai? Could these be… lingering vengeful spirits?” Evetti’s expression grew serious.
“Vengeful spirits?”
“Sun Baihai has so many vengeful spirits on him?”
Chen Zeyu couldn’t help but imagine a scene of ghosts clinging to him, wondering how Sun Baihai had managed to remain so lively for so long.
“Generally, normal souls return to the cycle of reincarnation.”
“But it seems all the girls who had a relationship with Sun Baihai are gathered here.”
“Yang Liying mentioned one to me; look, she’s right there in your palm.”
Evetti pointed to a short-haired girl in a pink dress, who must have been Yin Wan’er, identifiable by the needle marks on her arm.
“These are all victims harmed by Sun Baihai, so many of them!”
Chen Zeyu couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow.
These girls, who should have been popular in their social circles, had all unfortunately encountered Sun Baihai.
“Regardless, tomorrow you must go to the company.”
“Have Senior Tei Lai examine these souls.”
“Perhaps their testimonies will be the most direct and powerful evidence to bring down Sun Baihai.”
“What about you? Aren’t you coming?” Chen Zeyu felt uneasy about going to the company alone.
“I need to oversee Yang Liying’s discharge. Sun Baihai might send people to interfere.” Evetti’s considerations were thorough.
“Alright then. I hope they cooperate.”
Chen Zeyu looked down.
The girls within the white flame had their eyes closed, their numerous scars a shocking sight.
