Yanami Feels a Little Proud

Chapter 511,058 words9 min read

On Saturday morning, the air still carried a slight chill.

The station ticket gates were crowded with people, students and office workers weaving past each other.

Imaizumi Keita and Yanami Anna stood side by side at the agreed meeting spot, the latter nibbling on a freshly bought red bean bun, her face still showing a sleepy laziness.

“I’m telling you, Yanami,” Imaizumi Keita couldn’t help but say, “don’t tell me you were so excited last night that you couldn’t sleep at all?”

“N-no, I wasn’t!” Yanami Anna’s cheeks flushed slightly. “I was just seriously working on my novel!”

“Yo, good morning, you two!”

The club president Tamaki Shintaro and vice president Tsukinoki Koto arrived together.

Komari Chika followed behind them, carrying a backpack so large that Imaizumi Keita couldn’t help but worry it might topple her over.

Tamaki Shintaro had a huge travel bag slung over his shoulder and was also carrying another bag filled with various equipment.

Tsukinoki Koto, on the other hand, wore a small crossbody bag and pulled a suitcase containing most of the luggage, her face calm and composed.

“Good morning, Tamaki-senpai, Tsukinoki-senpai.”

Imaizumi Keita and Yanami Anna responded politely.

“You’re all very punctual.”

Tsukinoki Koto nodded in satisfaction and took out an A4 sheet from her bag to announce the plan for the camp.

“Alright, since Imaizumi-kun and Yanami-san are here, we’ll wait a bit for Shio-san. I’ll briefly go over the schedule.”

“We’re taking the 9:10 train, transferring to a bus at 10:30, and we should arrive at Shiratani Beach around 11. The youth house we booked is right next to the beach. We’ll check in, drop off our luggage, then head to the beach. In the evening, we’ll have free creative time.”

She paused and flipped the paper over.

“As for room assignments: Komari and I will share a room, Yanami and Shio will share one, the president and Imaizumi-kun will share another. Any objections?”

“I’m fine with it,” Imaizumi Keita shrugged.

“Mm!” Yanami Anna nodded enthusiastically. Sharing with the girls would make her feel more at ease.

“As for the writing task,” Tsukinoki Koto’s lips curved into a slightly mischievous smile, “it’s simple. By the end of the camp tomorrow, each person must complete at least 5,000 words of main text. We’ll all exchange and review each other’s work.”

“F-five thousand words?!”

Yanami Anna let out a short cry, her expression instantly collapsing.

“Alright, that’s my part done.”

Tsukinoki Koto clapped her hands and turned to Tamaki Shintaro, who had been silent all along. “President, everything okay with the equipment and budget?”

“No worries, everything’s been checked.”

Tamaki Shintaro patted his travel bag. “Toiletries and shared funds—nothing missing.”

“That’s good.”

“By the way,” Imaizumi Keita spoke up, “I brought a camera and spare batteries. If we need to take group photos or record anything, I can handle it. I also prepared a basic first aid kit just in case.”

As soon as he finished speaking, not only Yanami Anna but even Tsukinoki and Tamaki showed surprised expressions. Komari also glanced over awkwardly.

“Wow, Imaizumi-kun, you’re really well prepared!”

Tsukinoki Koto’s eyes lit up.

Yanami Anna also looked at him in surprise, a subtle sense of pride rising in her heart.

Honestly, this guy…

He always looks so indifferent, but unexpectedly, he’s really reliable.

At that moment, an energetic voice accompanied by hurried footsteps came from afar.

“Sorry, sorry! I’m here!!”

Shio Lemon ran up to them with a sports backpack, apologizing to everyone.

“Sorry! I ran a bit too much during morning practice and almost got late!”

“It’s fine, we still have time.”

Tamaki Shintaro smiled gently.

Shio Lemon let out a long breath, sliding her sports bag off her back and casually placing it at her feet. Then, very naturally, she stuffed her phone into Imaizumi Keita’s hand.

“Ima-chan, hold this for me.”

As she spoke, she took out a tissue and wiped the light sweat from her forehead and neck.

The action was natural, reflecting the carefree familiarity of an athletic girl.

However, standing beside Imaizumi Keita, Yanami Anna’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

Without drawing attention, she adjusted her position, subtly stepping into the space Shio Lemon had just occupied, creating a quiet barrier between them.

“Alright, now that everyone’s here,” Tsukinoki Koto clapped her hands and announced, “let’s head in! The Literature Club Summer Writing Camp officially begins!”

……

When they arrived at Shiratani Beach, a salty sea breeze rushed toward them.

Bright sunlight poured down, making the sand and ocean shimmer beautifully—the weather was perfect.

“Wow! The weather is amazing!” Shio Lemon took a deep breath of the salty air, her face lighting up with a bright smile, her tanned skin glowing with vitality under the sun.

“Exactly! Summer is all about the beach!”

Tsukinoki Koto also looked delighted as she scanned the wide beach, switching into “commander mode.”

“Alright, the youth house is up that slope. Komari, Shio, Yanami, and I will check in and drop off the luggage. President,”

She looked at Tamaki Shintaro, “you and Imaizumi-kun change into swimwear and set up a resting area for us.”

The task assignment was perfectly reasonable, and Imaizumi Keita had no objections.

After changing, he headed straight toward a nearby rental shop.

“Is there anything you’d like to rent?”

“I’d like to rent the largest waterproof sheet, please,” Imaizumi Keita replied concisely.

Soon, he spread a large blue waterproof sheet not far from the shoreline.

“Ah! Imaizumi, you’re really quick!”

Tamaki Shintaro walked over carrying a beach umbrella, praising him upon seeing the setup already done.

He set up the umbrella and sat down beside Imaizumi Keita, letting out a long breath.

“Imaizumi, you’ve really made a great contribution.”

“Hm? What do you mean, President?”

“Yanami and Shio—you actually managed to invite two such cute girls along.”

As he said this, Tamaki Shintaro glanced toward the changing room and added, “And they even came to the beach with us…”

“I mean, I did invite them, but it’s not like it should make you this excited…”

Imaizumi Keita looked bewildered. Why is Senpai this excited?!

That expression is seriously going to cause misunderstandings…
