Nilu’s strange request this morning—if I’d had a bit more time to both ask her questions and consult the script, I probably could’ve figured out what was on her mind.
But since Kefeir, the “protagonist,” had already spoken and agreed to Nilu’s request, deciding to escort her back first, then as the leg-hugging sidekick, I naturally couldn’t oppose.
Anyway, near the camp by the ruins’ entrance, I’d already blocked every possible “encounter” Nilu might have had, and the script confirmed multiple times that no “white-haired grandma or grandpa” would appear.
If Nilu stayed behind, then my and Kefeir’s exploration would indeed be more efficient.
So, after settling Nilu down, I set off again with Kefeir to explore the ruins.
The small fry we ran into along the way, no different from those stone golems, couldn’t withstand a single strike from Kefeir.
Sure, clinging to her thigh felt great, but…
【Kefeir also planned to escort Nilu back to the camp.】
That line in the script was something I absolutely couldn’t ignore.
Considering the circumstances, it looked exactly like Kefeir was “jealous” of Nilu.
“Kefeir, there won’t be any more enemies for a while.”
Finally, after Kefeir shattered another statue blocking our path in the ruins, I slowly spoke from behind her.
“Nilu, about her…”
“A little disappointing. Though it’s some sort of strange magical construct, its strength is way too low, barely third-tier at best…”
Muttering to herself, Kefeir either didn’t hear me or pretended not to.
When she turned back, her attitude was utterly normal—cold but tinged with a trace of concern—as she looked at me.
“What is it now, Euclid?”
Ugh.
I swallowed back the topic of Nilu.
Clearly, Kefeir had no intention of bringing her up here, so how could I go against the protagonist’s wishes?
“Well, of course. These were just ‘small fry’ to warm you up. The final ‘boss’ is the real theme of your visit here. Beat it, and you’ll definitely get some kind of treasure…”
I glanced at the script, calculating how far away the boss room was.
But just then, as I was doing so, Kefeir—
Grabbed my arm.
I shuddered, barely keeping myself from yelping!
“I didn’t intentionally make Nilu leave. Originally, I should’ve brought her along, but…”
I suddenly realized!
So this was the continuation of “that matter” back in the tent!
But now, with just the two of us alone, I had no time to stop Kefeir’s actions.
She gently pushed me, and this time, she really, truly pinned me against the wall—an authentic “kabedon.”
“More because there’s something I want to say to you alone…”
“Hahaha… well, c-could we maybe wait a bit?”
Even without looking at the script, I knew exactly what she intended in this scene.
Combined with the fact she had hidden those “documents” before…
The girl before me, Kefeir, was undeniably a peerless genius beauty.
When the icy mask she always wore melted even for a moment, no man could withstand her affection.
If I were just an ordinary person, I’d already be doing what needed to be done…
But unfortunately, I’m not.
I’m Euclid—the big villain whose script is filled with the word “death.”
What I need is to cling to Kefeir’s thigh, to survive with the protection of her protagonist halo, not to dive into a passionate tryst after a heartfelt confession.
If the villain devours the protagonist, the consequences need no imagination.
With beauty before me, only a fool wouldn’t want to accept.
But… I need to live first in order to enjoy it.
“Kefeir… beyond that stone door lies the boss chamber, guarding the treasure of the goddess’s ruins.”
“I know. The magic emanating from there is completely different from the ordinary statues we just faced.”
Kefeir blinked and stared straight at me, showing no intent of letting me divert.
You already know this, yet you still have the mood to kabedon me at the boss room entrance!?
So this is a protagonist “main story event,” a forced dialogue!?
If I were some generic transmigrated loser, I’d already have “eaten” Kefeir clean instead of just staring dumbly.
But constrained by my role, I had to think of a way to change the subject.
If nothing else, maybe use Nilu as a shield?
Without delay, I checked the script to see how Nilu currently felt about me—so she wouldn’t later call me a “pervert” and turn her protagonist-heroine wrath on me.
At first, no problem.
“Nilu has a favorable impression of Euclid.”
But the very next line…
“So, she will now unleash her hidden power and regain her memories.”
Hiss…
Unleash her power and regain her memories? That’s even more outrageous than those “grandparents delivering packages” events!
But I’d already blocked all of Nilu’s possible “encounters” along the way!
Frozen in place, I quickly realized another possibility for Nilu’s “awakening”—a forced trigger, in other words, “no other choice.”
Nilu is in danger!
No, not danger.
She won’t be harmed.
But she’ll “explode with hidden power,” and the one truly in danger is me.
I’d been so focused on preventing Nilu’s “encounters” that I’d forgotten—she’s a “blood-feud protagonist” type.
There are countless possible scripts where she suddenly awakens!
I absolutely can’t let Nilu “suddenly max out.”
If she does, she’ll instantly have the power to kill me anytime she wants!
But I can’t mention this to Kefeir, or it’ll waste her nearly-complete “level-up” storyline!
Save one side? Impossible—I have to save both!
That’s the only way I survive!
“Euclid? Don’t tell me you…”
“Ah, I’m fine. Just… a little surprised.”
I forced myself to stay calm.
Fortunately, for a “big villain” like me, that wasn’t hard.
Not letting the script’s surprises show on my face was already my specialty.
“Kefeir, the most dangerous monster is just ahead. You should deal with the final boss of the ruins, claim the treasure that belongs to you. Afterwards… we can talk about what you wanted to say to me. Is that okay?”
Seeing Kefeir’s surprised yet somewhat delighted gaze, I added,
“The prophecy said so. I’ll wait outside. After all, what comes next is your moment as the chosen daughter of heaven.”
As for me, I had to move immediately—for the sake of my future, to stop Nilu’s awakening before it was too late.
The moment Kefeir stepped forward, the stone doors opened and shut, cutting her from my sight.
I wasted no time and sprinted at full speed toward the camp.
