Chapter 52: Positive remark

After coming out as a streamer, one day, I was called to my dad’s office.

“Welcome, Miss.”

“Ah, hello.”

“The president instructed us to send you straight to his office as soon as you arrived.”

“Ah… okay.”

For reference, to my dad’s close associates, Seol Yoon and I were supposedly the children of his friend who lived in the U.S. but lost both parents in an accident and were later adopted by our parents.

Since I couldn’t exactly say that I had contracted some rare disease that changed my gender, a rather complicated backstory had been created.

When I arrived at the president’s office, my dad was sitting in his chair with a very angry expression.

‘What’s this? Did he call me here to scold me?’

“Seol-ah, come sit over here.”

Luckily, he didn’t make me stand in front of his desk and scold me. Instead, he had me sit on the sofa.

“There are a lot of evil people on the internet saying things to our Seol-ah that are beyond inappropriate, obscene, and vulgar.”

Evil people? That’s a bit extreme.

At least he doesn’t seem to be angry at me.

“Really?”

“I’ll make sure to enforce social order and uphold justice, so don’t worry. You don’t have to do anything.”

I feel like I’ve been through something like this before.

Oh, right. I got a call from the police station once.

At the time, my heart sank because I thought I had done something wrong, but they told me I was the victim and asked if I wanted to proceed with an investigation into a cyber defamation case.

My answer back then was NO.

I didn’t want to get caught up in a hassle, and since the punishment was quite severe, I worried it might create unnecessary grudges.

But saying NO to my dad isn’t so easy.

I mean, he’s my dad.

Probably the person in the world who worries about me the most.

The person who gets more upset than I do when something bad happens to me.

Still, I should say what I need to say.

“Is it really necessary to go that far?”

“Yes.”

Wow, he’s firm about this. A real hardliner.

‘It’s not like they committed a crime so severe that their entire life should be ruined.’

Like I said before, if the punishment was just a fine of one or two million won, I’d think, “Well, take responsibility and move on.”

But turning someone into a registered s*x offender and ruining their life just because they made some lewd comments in chat feels excessive.

Maybe it’s because I spent a long time living as a man rather than being born and raised as a woman, but I don’t feel particularly sensitive about these issues.

Think about it—what if a guy in class suddenly shouted, “Ah! I really wanna do it!”

The girls would glare at him with disgust and contempt, but the guys would probably just think he’s an idiot and move on.

After all, everyone has sexual desires.

Why treat it like some enormous crime?

Of course, if someone can’t control their urges and makes others uncomfortable, then yes, that’s a crime.

But should that really be a crime deserving of execution? Should they be burned at the stake and judged by the public?

I can’t help but raise an eyebrow at that.

Hmm, is it really that serious?

Even if I were the victim, my thoughts wouldn’t change.

“Still, how about giving them a chance?”

“A chance?”

“A chance to correct their mistakes and reflect on their actions.”

“Seol-ah, how can you be so kind? My daughter, you’re an absolute angel!”

“S-Stop it. That’s so cringy.”

I feel like my hands and feet are curling up.

I’m a jellyfish, not a squid.

And now, back to today’s stream.

“Well, I think it’s understandable. Everyone has sexual desires, right? It’s not like they’re throwing it in my face or anything. I’m not going to judge people for what they do in private.”

< Gasp >

< Respectable opinion >

< Don’t fall for it! You have to listen to the whole sentence in Korean! >

< But? >

“My dad must have seen those posts. He was really angry. He said he’s going to take care of everything.”

< Gasp! >

< As long as it’s not me! >

< Goodbye, everyone lololol >

< Anyone suddenly breaking out in cold sweat right now, press like lol >

< Pre-lawsuit, post-reporting is the right way. He’s probably already sued everyone, right? >

< Deleting it now won’t save you lol >

“But still, it might have been a momentary lapse in judgment. I’ll give them one chance. If they delete everything they’ve posted so far, I’ll let it slide. You better get to work deleting them today.”

< Gasp! >

< What, an angel? >

< B >

< The trap investigation remains undefeated! >

< It was the perfect setup for real consequences, but now it’s wasted >

< So soft-hearted lol >

< Big respect >

< Why forgive those people? Now I’m mad instead >

“I mean, you can’t tell people not to feel attraction. It’s not like they’re monks practicing asceticism. Just don’t make it obvious to others. I’ll teach you a method to handle it.

Open Notepad, type whatever you want to say, and if you think, ‘Hmm, this might get me sued,’ just put it straight into the trash bin.”

<Wow, what a life-changing tip>

<Thanks to this method, I saved 50 million won in settlement money and bought a house. Thank you.>

<How do you buy a house with 50 million won?>

“I’m not some nymphomaniac who enjoys that kind of thing, and my family knows about my streaming.

If their daughter hears those kinds of things, of course, my parents would be upset.

So please refrain from expressing such things in chat or on the internet.

Everyone understands, right?”

<Yes! Teacher!>

<Why is your voice so soft and soothing?>

<Hold it in! No bad words!>

<She’s really so nice, our noona.>

<Legend! I, Song Byunghoon, hereby receive your blessing for marriage!>

<If her father is watching, doesn’t this basically count as a formal meeting between families?>

<Legend noona is our mommy!>

<Confession: I’ve sent bad chats before, but starting today, I will repent.>

<Legend! Legend! Legend!>

Is saying something like this really deserving of so much praise?

What do other people usually say for me to get this kind of reaction?

Hmm, this is getting a little embarrassing. Time to change the mood.

“But honestly, you all have some weird tastes.

How can you feel that way about a jellyfish?

Wait… do you guys actually enjoy being stung by venomous tentacles? Is that your thing?”

I pressed a keyboard shortcut to make my virtual jellyfish avatar wiggle its virtual tentacles.

<Wait, that setting wasn’t scrapped yet?>

<Why does a jellyfish have such a beautiful voice?!>

<Yes! I love jellyfish!>

<Whoa, calm down, your parents are watching.>

<Nice chats only! Nice chats only!>

These guys are such contrarians.

Not a single one of them is going to admit that feeling attracted to a jellyfish is weird.

Well, whatever. I should just focus on running the stream.

“As for subscriptions, I need to stream on at least 12 different days within a month to meet the requirements, so that might take a little while.

As for YouTube, my editor is working hard on the videos right now, so please be patient.”

<You haven’t streamed for 12 days, but you have 13,000 viewers LMAO>

<Legend! She’s a god!>

<How is everything moving along so smoothly? This is like a full-on company.>

<Corporate VTuber Legend (Jellyfish)>

<Does this even count as a VTuber?>

<Najak keeps hyping things up, and it’s fun to watch.>

<Is this what they call a “growing together” stream?>

<The 13,000 viewers are the ones growing instead?>

<Our baby is growing too fast. Not even a healthy child, but a full-blown monster.>

<Everyone, don’t forget to leave a post-stream review on Lightit after the broadcast.>

<Can I leave a late-night emotional post with a lock on it?>

<That’s not for us, that’s just torturing the streamer.>

<Ah, damn it, “pseudo-boyfriend” chat again.>

“What are ‘lock posts’ and ‘pseudo’?”

There were some unfamiliar terms, so I decided to ask.

The viewers kindly explained.

<Explanation: ‘Lock post’ – A secret post left on the Lightit message board, usually written like a love letter, meant to make the streamer uncomfortable.>

<Explanation 2: ‘Pseudo (boyfriend/girlfriend)’ – Viewers who act like the streamer is their partner, constantly giving instructions and stirring up romantic tension. A similar term is ‘broth’ (implying they simmer and stew in their emotions).>

“Ah, I see. Thank you for the explanation—though now I kind of wish I could erase that knowledge from my brain.”

This is exactly why I chose a jellyfish model.

Maybe it didn’t help much after all?

“Alright, now that we’ve finished all the announcements, should we start the game stream?”

<Are we going for Challenger rank #1?>

<Time to claim some victories!>

<Another new legend is about to begin!>

<I’ve been waiting for this, damn it!>

Whatever.

I’m a game streamer, so let’s just play the game.
