Chapter 53 Part 7: New Year Event

A person walking on water.

Something that everyone has imagined at least once.

In this world where superpowers exist, it’s probably not that uncommon.

However, Rain’s appearance looked quite, no, very attractive.

The sparkling water droplets, the bright smile that went well with the yellow raincoat, had the power to make those who saw it smile warmly.

Maybe that’s why.

In Rain’s appearance, I could catch a glimpse of Lucy, the main character of *The Little Witch’s Great Adventure*.

Lucy always shined so coolly.

Rain’s appearance now also shined so coolly.

My heart was pounding.

I was caressing my cheeks, but I grabbed my chest.

The sound of my heart pounding.

I mumbled at the strange sensation spreading through my entire body.

“Wow…”

Only an exclamation came out of my mouth that was gaping.

Then, at some point, I met eyes with Rain, who was walking on water.

The girl’s face, caught in that sparkling gaze, was flushed red.

I hastily raised my hand and covered my face with my hair.

If I lifted my long hair that hung on both sides, I could cover my face sufficiently.

Swaaaak-

The rapidly spinning vortex began to slow down.

Rain was not affected at all by it.

As if walking down a normal street, she approached the glass wall.

“Awesome.”

Shine seemed to have the same thoughts as me, and her eyes sparkled as she rubbed her face against the glass wall.

“How is it?”

At that moment, Mary, who was standing next to me, checked the file she was holding and asked Rain.

“It’s okay, there’s no problem.”

“Then shall we end the test here?”

“Should we?”

Rain stomped her foot at Mary’s words.

With a “thud!”

Of course, there was no sound, but the water droplets that had splashed up scattered in all directions.

At that moment, the vortex that had been spinning under Rain’s feet began to slowly slow down.

Like water draining from a swimming pool, it began to disappear in the same shape it had been spinning.

“Ta-da!”

After the water completely disappeared, Rain raised her arm and shouted.

A small laugh escaped my lips as it seemed as if she was showing off her abilities to me and Shine.

Clap, clap, clap.

I released the hand that was holding my hair and clapped my hands.

At that sight, Rain stomped her feet wildly as if she was delighted.

The moment her boots hit the floor, small water droplets rose up.

Rain came out of the training room and shook off her raincoat with her hand.

The moisture on her body instantly dispersed into the air.

“Awesome!”

“Wow!”

Shine and I ran toward Rain with sparkling eyes.

We circled around her and fiddled with our raincoats.

“How is it? It’s great?”

“It’s just like Lucy!”

“Lucy?”

It was the best compliment I could give, but she didn’t seem to know who Lucy was.

“What abilities does Rain’s suit have?”

Shine asked, feeling Rain’s arms and legs here and there, as if she was more interested in Rain’s suit itself.

“It has functions that help control abilities, simple shock absorption, and functions that collect moisture from the surroundings.”

“Anything else?”

“That it’s pretty?” Rain said, flapping her raincoat. She seemed to really like the design of the yellow raincoat suit.

“That’s something only Rain can use, right?”

“Yeah! Right? It’s a suit that’s specialized for my abilities.”

“I see.” Shine took a step back from Rain and smiled faintly after hearing Rain’s answer.

While Rain was organizing her suit, Shine and I started talking. It was mostly about the suit.

“Does Shine want one too?”

“Yeah. How did you know?” Shine’s eyes flew to my question.

At first glance, her gaze seemed empty, but I could read the emotions in her gaze.

“You were looking at me with envy.”

“Jeff was looking at me?”

“Uh…” I felt like the focus of the conversation had shifted in a strange direction. But if Shine was in a good mood, it didn’t matter.

“Yeah.” Shine’s face broke into a bright smile at my answer.

It was a smile as bright as the sun, just like her name implies.

“Mary must have made them all.”

Mary approached Rain and began talking about the suit.

Only then did I begin to carefully examine the entire room.

In addition to the suit, there were a ton of really cool tools.

A huge glove, and a huge hammer.

If she carried something like that around, it was only a matter of time before she would be investigated by the police, but cool was cool.

“Should I ask Mary to make it?”

“What?”

“The suit.”

I was lingering in front of the large glove, and then I turned around at Shine’s words. She was looking at Mary with sparkling eyes.

“Should I make it for you?”

“Yeah. Jeff and I will both ask you to make it.”

“But Shine. I don’t think they’d make it for just anyone. Rain said it was pretty expensive.”

“Hmm…” It was a matter of money. If the two of us had a lot of money, we could have asked Mary.

“We’ll need money.”

“Yeah. We’ll need a lot of money.”

Shine and I started to think hard. Money, where should we get the money?

Since I couldn’t receive a salary anymore, I couldn’t join Shine’s plan since I had no income.

“Salary…?”

The word salary brought back vague memories. Scenes that passed by in a flash. Money? Was I working for money?

“Let’s ask Amy!”

At that moment, Shine grabbed my hand. The shock caused my thoughts to fly away.

I shook my head and looked straight ahead.

The moment my blurred vision recovered, I was startled by Shine’s face that was so close to me and stepped back.

I could feel the breath coming out of Shine’s nose.

“Huh? To Amy?”

“Yeah. Amy has a lot of money.”

I nodded as I looked at Amy’s credit card.

It was true that she had a lot of money, but wouldn’t this amount of money be a little burdensome?

I couldn’t even guess exactly how much Amy’s wealth was.

Shine took my hand and started running towards Amy.

Her eyes were swaying back and forth, and Shine’s hair was flying everywhere, catching my attention.

“Wait… Wait a minute, Shine~”

I followed closely behind her, straightening my unsteady steps.

“Amy!”

“Amy!”

Shine and I ran to Amy and grabbed her legs.

She put her hands on both of our heads and smiled slightly.

“You guys! I think I know what you’re going to say?”

“Huh…”

“How? What do you think we’re going to say?”

Shine and I looked up at Amy with wide eyes at her words.

Amy, who was looking down at us, smiled and said, “You want a suit, right?”

Her words were correct.

I was surprised and let go of the hand that was holding onto Amy’s legs.

“That’s right! Amy! I want a suit.”

Shine nodded with sparkling eyes.

I was bewildered by Shine’s appearance for the first time.

I had never seen her so enthusiastic about a specific thing, so possessive, so expressive of her desire to have it.

It was like I was enthusiastic about *Little Witch’s Great Adventure).

It was like looking in a mirror.

“Tell you guys.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re young.”

“But…!”

“I’ll make it for you when you grow up.”

Amy’s words flowed out so casually.

It was as if she was buying snacks at a convenience store, and her permission was granted so easily.

Although there was a condition that it had to be big.

I imagined a huge mountain of pork cutlets in my imagination.

How many years would it take for me, who was living on an ordinary salary, to make such a huge mountain of pork cutlets?

No, the price of the suit might have been more expensive than I imagined.

“Amy. How much does the suit cost?”

“Hmm…”

Amy closed her eyes as if she was deep in thought at my question.

She seemed to be choosing an expression that was easy for us to understand.

“Even if I sold the copyright to *The Little Witch’s Great Adventure* that you like, it wouldn’t be enough?”

“Huh…”

“Copyrights?”

“Was it a little difficult? To put it simply, you would completely own the animation that Jeff likes. The characters and all that?”

“So if you have a lot of money, you can change the animation that Jeff likes as you please?”

“Right?”

“Wow…”

Shine nodded as if she understood after hearing Amy’s continued explanation.

I couldn’t help but be shocked.

The copyright price of the animation that is currently popular and literally popular is beyond imagination.

Although I didn’t know the exact price, it means that Amy possesses enormous wealth that she can spend such a huge amount of money without blinking an eye.

At that moment, Mary, who was talking to Rain, asked Amy back as if she was surprised.

She was so surprised that she dropped the folder she was holding on the floor.

“Amy! Are you serious?”

“Huh? Of course! They are my children.”

“Huh? Amy’s…?”

Mary’s hands began to tremble as if she was shocked by Amy’s words.

Amy, who was watching her, smiled and hugged Shine and me.

“How much does that cost, why are you making such a fuss?”

Amy said that it was nothing.

She rubbed her face against us as she hugged us.

My cheek and Shine’s cheek were crushed without mercy.

“Yes… That’s right. Amy could definitely do that….”

Mary nodded as if she had just remembered something and picked up the documents that had fallen on the floor.

Rain, who was standing next to her, looked at Amy as if she was dissatisfied with something.

“Amy!”

“Huh?”

“Me too! Me too! Something new!”

“You too?”

“Huh!”

“What else do you need?”

Amy looked at the bag containing Rain’s suit as if asking what the problem was.

“Something stronger! We’re lacking firepower!”

“Firepower?”

“Yeah!”

Amy nodded as she listened to Rain.

“We’re definitely lacking firepower.”

Amy’s words sparkled Rain’s eyes.

But her expression soon turned gloomy as Amy continued.

“But I don’t think we can do it this month because we’re short on budget. Jin is suddenly pushing forward with a strange project.”

“Oh.”

“Maybe next month?”

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

My head started spinning.

A monthly budget could cover all the expenses for a specific project.

Was the project small, or was the monthly budget that this facility could use incredibly huge?

After Amy’s permission, Rain took out a small notebook from her pocket and opened it up.

“Then this! This! Let the laser come out from here!”

What Rain drew in her notebook was a large umbrella.

A girl in a raincoat holding an umbrella as big as her height.

Her drawing skills were as poor as mine, but she had no problem guessing the shape.

Rain’s eyes sparkled as she flapped her notebook.

The umbrella drawn in the notebook had incredible functions.

It was no exaggeration to think that she had packed every feature she could imagine.

“Show Mary and do what’s possible.”

“Yes!”

“Mary! Please do this!”

Rain threw her notebook at Mary.

It was a scene that showed how excited she was.

Mary, who had received the notebook that had been thrown at her, quickly looked through it.

“How much is the budget?”

“Maybe half? I’ll have to go back and find out for sure when I get there.”

“Yes. I have a rough idea.”

Mary nodded at Amy’s words and stuffed the notebook into her pocket.

Mary’s white gown fluttered slightly.

“Then shall we go back?”

“Are we going now? Are we done?”

“Yes. This was the last time.”

When Amy said that the work was done, we left for the hallway.

Before we left the door, Rain turned around and shouted to Mary that she was taking good care of her.
