They ascended to the rooftop.
“Hah, you scared me half to death!” Ruobing gasped, clutching her chest and panting heavily, nearly collapsing to the ground.
“Ruobing, are you alright?” Xi Xue asked, steadying her.
“I’m fine, but I was truly terrified. That ten-minute walk from the school gate felt like years.”
“The crowd was truly terrifying!”
Lan Ruobing shuddered, still reeling from the experience.
It was her first time encountering such worshipping, fanatical gazes, and amidst her shock, she couldn’t help but admire the immense power of idols and celebrities.
Xi Xue chuckled softly, slowly helping her to her feet.
“You just haven’t experienced much, so you’re not used to it.”
“However, you need to adapt quickly.”
“After joining the Guard Squad, you’ll encounter these situations constantly. If you don’t adapt soon, it’ll be miserable.”
“You don’t want to keep hiding behind me, do you? Though I wouldn’t mind, of course.”
“Sigh,” Lan Ruobing let out a long sigh.
She had no choice.
For the sake of slacking off in the future, for her bottomless pit of a stomach, and…
Her parents’ faces flickered before her eyes.
Taking a deep breath, she murmured, “I can only get stronger.”
“What?” Xi Xue asked, puzzled.
“Nothing. I mean, I must get into Huaxia Guard University.”
“Yes, you’ll definitely succeed!” Xi Xue encouraged her.
Taking Ruobing’s hand, Xi Xue led her to the edge of the rooftop.
Leaning back against the parapet, she stretched her waist contentedly, letting the fresh breeze tousle her hair.
“Ahh, I love it here. The pure blue sky, the dazzling sun, the cool breeze, and you, so pristine and flawless.”
As she spoke, she gazed into Ruobing’s eyes.
Those pure, sky-blue pupils now reflected her own image, utterly clear.
Ruobing, too, found herself momentarily lost in Xi Xue’s ink-dark eyes.
Her face quickly flushed, and she lowered her head.
“Don’t always say such embarrassing sweet nothings,” Ruobing mumbled, a faint blush still on her cheeks. “It makes me so shy.”
“Oho!” Xi Xue’s interest was piqued. She cupped Ruobing’s face in her hands.
“I love how shy and helpless you look.”
“It’s simply irresistible.”
Her words hung in the air, her warm breath close, as her lips prepared to descend.
Ruobing struggled to push Xi Xue away, turning her face to reveal her fair, tender neck.
“Outside… we can’t,” she stammered, embarrassed.
“Someone might see us. And I feel like we’re being watched.”
“Heh-hem~” Xi Xue purred provocatively.
“That’s just your imagination. I don’t sense anyone looking.”
“However, Ruobing, your sensitive nature would be perfect for a wild tryst. An office setting might also work well; your potential for exploration is immense.”
The hot breath on her earlobe made Lan Ruobing’s cheeks flush so deeply they seemed about to drip.
Her ear tingled, and she instantly softened, feeling as if she might melt.
“Xi Xue, don’t say such things! Aren’t we girlfriends? You need to respect my choices.”
Trying her best to evade Xi Xue’s lips, Lan Ruobing pushed with all her might against Xi Xue’s shoulders.
“Alright, alright, I respect your choice. Come on, just let me have a taste first.”
Though Xi Xue agreed verbally, she used one hand to pinch Ruobing’s cheeks, twisting her face around, ready to kiss her.
“No, wait—” Ruobing protested urgently.
Why wouldn’t Xi Xue listen?
This was the rooftop of a high school, a sacred place for studying.
Was this really the place for such things?
Thump-thump-thump—
The sound of war drums echoed, followed by musical accompaniment.
The host’s voice, amplified by loudspeakers, reached them.
“For the first match, Xi Xue versus Lin Qiuyu! Now, with a round of enthusiastic applause, please welcome Xi Xue and Lin Qiuyu to the stage!”
As soon as the words fell, the entire venue erupted.
The sound of thunderous applause filled the air.
“Xi Xue?!” Lan Ruobing’s eyes, which had been about to resign themselves to fate, suddenly sprang to life, shining with hope.
A smile bloomed on her face.
But catching a glimpse of Xi Xue’s gloomy expression, she quickly suppressed her smile, turning her face away and remaining wary.
She couldn’t guarantee Xi Xue wouldn’t bite her lip swollen in a fit of pique.
“Tsk, really, why am I first? This broken sound system, and that host, they should all find a hole to disappear into!”
Dangerous light flickered in Xi Xue’s eyes.
Gulp. Lan Ruobing swallowed hard.
Xi Xue was truly dangerous!
“It’s… it’s your turn. Go quickly!” Lan Ruobing urged, pushing with all her strength, yet unable to move her.
“I know,” Xi Xue said.
Taking advantage of Ruobing’s distraction, she twisted Ruobing’s delicate chin and bit down on her lips.
Just as Ruobing was about to resist fiercely, Xi Xue’s arm, wrapped around Ruobing’s waist, slid down, firmly gripping Ruobing’s shapely backside.
“Mmm-hmm, ow, mmm-mmm…” Lan Ruobing’s legs trembled, tears welling in her ocean-like eyes.
“Excellent. A tight, stimulating bite.” Xi Xue wore an expression of pleasure and exhilaration, savoring the moment, before instantly vanishing.
Lan Ruobing’s eyes lost their luster.
Without Xi Xue’s support, her trembling legs gave out, and she sank to her knees.
Two lines of clear tears streamed down her face.
They’re bullying me too much! Wah!
“Student Xi Xue, please take the stage quickly!” the host’s voice rang out again.
Xi Xue instantly teleported to the top of an academic building behind the main stage at the examination grounds.
With a single leap, she soared into the sky, then plummeted dramatically from the heavens amidst the anxious gazes of the crowd.
Boom!
Waves of dust erupted in the center of the arena, spreading outwards in crushing layers.
When the swirling dust finally cleared, Xi Xue stood in the middle of a shattered, cracked crater, clad in black and red leather pants, black and red long boots, and a sleek leather jacket.
The entire venue fell silent.
After two seconds of quiet, thunderous applause erupted.
Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap!
The crowd was absolutely ecstatic!
With such a flamboyant entrance, this year’s Ability College Entrance Exam Tournament was sure to be more exciting than ever before!
Everyone cheered and rejoiced, eager to watch the upcoming matches.
Unbeknownst to them, that dazzling entrance was merely Xi Xue’s way of saving time.
To arrive quickly without revealing her teleportation ability, she had simply jumped directly from the sky.
Still, having gotten a taste of Ruobing, this was a huge win!
The Ability College Entrance Exam consists of two parts.
The first part is the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Top Three Competition.
Each candidate competes in a round-robin format to determine the three strongest contenders, who will be admitted as new students to Huaxia Guard University and become reserve members of the Huaxia Guard Squad.
The remaining candidates, based on their ranking in the exam and their abilities, qualities, and other characteristics, will receive special recruitment offers from various other guard academies.
They will then be admitted as new students to these respective institutions.
Unlike Huaxia Guard University, these specially recruited academies consider not only the candidates’ combat power but also their unique abilities and qualities when selecting students from the remaining pool.
Therefore, candidates with higher rankings may not necessarily receive a special recruitment offer, and sometimes those with lower rankings might still gain admission to excellent guard academies.
Consequently, candidates must strive to showcase their strengths, quick reactions, and judgment during the exam.
If they fail to qualify and are not specially recruited, their only hope lies with the ordinary ability academies they applied to previously.
This is also why Xi Xue took Ruobing to the ability university admissions test site before the exam.
Another distinction between other guard academies and Huaxia Guard University is this:
Students at Huaxia Guard University are immediately considered reserve members of the guard squad upon admission.
Those who graduate successfully will directly become national or municipal guard squad members, depending on their performance.
Students from other guard academies, however, must pass an additional examination after graduation to become municipal-level or higher guard squad members.
Of course, every university has a certain number of guaranteed admission spots.
The second part of the Ability College Entrance Exam is a wilderness survival test.
This is a points-based, nationwide examination, open only to candidates who secured the top three spots (Gold, Silver, Bronze) in their respective regions.
Candidates must survive in the wilderness for ten days while accumulating sufficient points.
Only then, after the exam, will they earn the opportunity to join a special guard squad.
Becoming a member of a special guard squad is a dream for almost all ability candidates, granting immense authority and freedom.
They also gain the right to choose top-tier mentors from anywhere in the country, from any school, with no limit on the number of mentors they can select.
