Collins nodded slightly and followed Slok into a building within the vast space that wasn’t very tall.
The massive space turned another corner, and in front of Collins appeared an elegant room.
An old man stood in the center of the room.
On his left stood a boy and a girl, while on his right sat a boy sipping tea.
These three children were Slok’s descendants—the most reputable among the direct bloodline and the ones most likely to inherit the family legacy.
“Collins, you’re here. Sit down. Grandpa has prepared the bitter tea you like.”
Entis spoke kindly.
Although this Grand Mage represented the highest level of magical ability in this land, he did not show any air of superiority before his descendants.
His kindly demeanor matched his age perfectly.
Entis sat down in his chair.
The two children on his left let out a sigh of relief and sat down as well.
Collins casually found a seat and sat.
Soon, an arcane automaton placed a steaming cup of tea in front of him.
“Collins, did Slok tell you why I asked you to come this time?”
Collins shook his head.
Entis cast an unhappy glance at his son.
“Father, I thought it would be better for you to explain it. After all, what we’re about to do is something Collins doesn’t usually like.”
“Little Lin, this time, Grandpa is taking you to a banquet. I think you won’t mind, right?”
Collins looked completely puzzled.
Ever since his father left the family, Collins had participated in very few official family activities.
In recent years, aside from essential resource supplies and bloodline training, the number of times he had seen these elders could be counted on one hand.
“What’s wrong? You don’t want to go?”
Entis’ tone carried a hint of displeasure.
Collins shook his head.
“Since Grandfather says so, there must be an important reason. I have received many favors from the family. If I can repay them, I should.”
“I told you, Collins is different from his ungrateful father. He’s someone who knows how to return kindness.”
Entis laughed heartily and pointed toward a room behind them.
“We’re going to a banquet later. Collins, wearing your school uniform would be far too impolite. Here’s what we’ll do—I brought my favorite tailor here to make you a custom suit. Don’t worry, our Collins is so handsome that in formal wear, he’ll capture the hearts of many young ladies.”
Slok couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
His expression was sincere.
Collins’ father had told him before: in the family, you can distrust anyone, even Entis, but you can trust Slok.
This had nothing to do with brotherly affection—it was because Collins’ father posed no threat to Slok.
Having already gone independent, Collins’ father would not compete with Slok for the family’s inherited wealth and status.
So Slok’s kindness to Collins was genuine.
Led by the arcane automaton, Collins entered a small room.
Inside, an elderly man with hair and beard completely white was working at a sewing table.
His expression was serious, yet he carried an air of calm.
It was said this old man had been Entis’ childhood friend.
He came from a poor family but had outstanding tailoring skills.
After being noticed by Entis, he came under his service.
In the blink of an eye, a hundred years had passed, and this man had changed from a young lad to a gray-haired elder.
“Oh, it’s Young Master Collins. The master already told me to prepare clothes for you. Sit down first, and I’ll take your measurements.”
Franz picked up a measuring tape and walked to Collins’ side.
As he measured, he shook his head.
“Young Master Collins is too thin, and his build is too ordinary. When I get back, I need to have a good talk with Young Master Goody (Collins’ father). Who raises a child like this? Aren’t they afraid Collins won’t grow taller in the future?”
The old man muttered as he spoke, giving his opinions about Collins while continuing to measure him.
