Chapter 54: Prisoner

[Victory]
[+9 LP]

[2000 LP]

As the text appeared on the screen, I took a deep breath.

“Phew…”

The room was still warm, despite it being winter weather outside. I hadn’t realized how intensely I had been focusing.

After calming my breathing, I slowly opened the stats tracking site I had left ready and clicked on the rankings section.

[Prisoner]

Rank 1

Solo Queue

  • Challenger
  • 2000 LP / 271 Wins, 172 Losses
  • Win Rate: 61%

Should I call it “finally”? Or perhaps “at last”?

I wasn’t sure what words to use to describe this feeling.

2000 LP in Solo Queue.

I had stepped into an uncharted territory no one had ever reached before.

Honestly, I never thought I would make it this far.

Even if I could, I assumed I would suffer numerous losses along the way.

After all, reaching 2000 LP without a single loss seemed impossible.

But here I was, reaching 2000 LP without experiencing a single defeat.

Even I was stunned by what I had achieved.

“I did it…”

For some reason, my eyes started to redden.

It must have been an overwhelming mix of emotions.

…Or maybe it was just hormones.

After taking a few deep breaths to gather myself, I logged into the community forums.

If I was going to step back, I at least wanted to see the real-time reactions before I left.

– Prisoner is a god, and he’s playing League of Legends like a legend right now. Prisoner is a god, and he’s playing League of Legends like a legend right now. Prisoner is a god, and he’s playing League of Legends like a legend right now.

– Congratulations to Prisoner for becoming the first player in the world to break 2000 LP!

Entering 2000 LP with an insane win streak, no losses! Lol

– Rainbow vs. Prisoner result: Prisoner undefeated.

– Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner!

– Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god?

– FYI: The current LP of MAX WooChan, a first-division team’s jungler, is exactly half of Prisoner’s.

– An amateur reached 2000 LP, lol. All the pros should bow their heads in shame.

– Is Rainbow overrated? He got completely crushed by an amateur.

– This is unbelievable… Prisoner is truly a legend…

As soon as I opened the community forums, a flood of chaotic praise for Prisoner appeared on the screen.

Honestly… it felt a bit overwhelming.

Still, despite the pressure, I kept reading through the posts.

– Hey, Prisoner.

(2000 LP) Entering history…

– A four-digit jungler followed by the first two-thousand LP jungler, lol.

– 2000 LP is wild.

– Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god? Is Prisoner a god?

+

– End of Vote: The winner of YunGi vs. Prisoner is none other than Teacher Prisoner.

– After Rainbow got crushed following YunGi, all the fanboys have gone silent. Lol, the hype is over, isn’t it?

– Honestly, Rainbow should’ve thrown the match. Upvote if you agree. Downvote if you still agree.

YunGi, do not be ashamed of your loss.

Your opponent is a ‘god.’

– Lol, even a Red Cup champion is helpless against a 2000 LP jungler.

– Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner!

– Is Prisoner’s win streak even real? Not rigged? Meanwhile, my match history is full of losses.

– Real. Shut up, idiot.

– And so what? Looooooool.

Honestly, if you like Prisoner, upvote. Lol.

I’ll start.

– Nothing else matters. Just the fact that he made fanboys disappear is enough.

Official Vote: If Prisoner becomes a pro, can he win the Red Cup? Yes vs. No.

A)

If you’re here to downvote this poll, place your hand on your heart and ask yourself—are you a fanboy?

– Fanboys scrambling to back out of the poll, lol.

– Lol, in front of a 2000 LP jungler, a Red Cup champion is nothing.

– Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!

Why Rainbow is Overrated.txt

(Insert a cute bubble meme here)

During the victory interview at the Red Cup finals, Rainbow said he wouldn’t have won if Prisoner were his opponent.

Amazingly, it turned out to be true.

– As expected, the insight of a champion. Lol.

– Did he already know from the start…?

– Rainbow… who is he, really?

Why shooting stars fall: Fact.

✩✩

So that… Prisoner can descend to earth.

– LOL, what a god.

– This guy… he’s the real deal.

– Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner! Prisoner!

Each time I refreshed the page, the community’s posts were updated by the second.

It was absolute madness.

The attention surrounding Prisoner was hotter than ever.

‘But this is where it ends.’

I wondered if people realized.

Today, Prisoner would disappear.

‘It’s going to cause a commotion.’

The first amateur to reach 2000 LP suddenly vanishing on the same day…

Speculation and rumors would run wild.

‘Even so, it’s something I have to do.’

Just as I was about to close the League of Legends client, my eyes lingered on the friends list.

[SY Rainbow]

Online.

Rainbow.

Looking back now, it had been a long journey together.

After starting League of Legends, we’d run into each other in matches here and there, eventually becoming something akin to friends.

Before Rainbow debuted as a pro, we even played other games together quite often.

Maybe that’s why.

[Me: Rainbow.]

[Me: I have something to tell you.]

It was a small impulse.

Originally, I had planned to disappear as Prisoner without telling anyone, slipping away silently.

After all, if I was going to vanish, I didn’t want to burden anyone with unnecessary baggage.

However, the reason I decided to speak to Rainbow was that I felt it was the last courtesy I could offer to someone I respected.

[SY Rainbow: Yes.]

[SY Rainbow: Oh, congratulations on reaching 2000 LP. Haha.]

[SY Rainbow: Seriously… I couldn’t win even a single match. You’re amazing.]

[Me: Haha, thank you.]

A brief silence followed.

I needed a moment to prepare myself mentally.

“Phew…”

Taking a deep breath, I placed my hands slowly on the keyboard.

[Me: So… it looks like I won’t be able to play games anymore.]

[SY Rainbow: What?]

[Me: It’s been fun. Haha.]

[SY Rainbow: What do you mean… Is something wrong?]

[Me: It’s a personal matter.]

[Me: Ah, I should get going now. Take care!]

With those words, I logged out of the League of Legends client.

It felt like I had just said my piece and ended it abruptly, but that was for the best.

If the conversation dragged on, I might have second thoughts and change my mind.

‘Still, saying something dramatic like “life or death” doesn’t feel right either.’

If it were anyone else, I might have considered it, but saying something like that to Rainbow felt like a lie I shouldn’t tell.

This was enough.

After closing the client, I immediately went to the League of Legends website.

Since I rarely visited the website, the login screen felt oddly unfamiliar.

[Account Management]

Step by step, I carefully clicked through the options.

[We’ve sent a verification code to Eu@g. Please enter the code.]*

‘Huh? Was this always a thing?’

Come to think of it, I’d never had a reason to access account management before, so it wasn’t surprising that this felt new.

[Account Deletion]

When I finally saw the message, I hesitated with the mouse in my hand.

Technically, there wouldn’t be much of a problem leaving the account inactive if I never logged in again.

But I didn’t want to see the Prisoner account fall into disgrace in front of everyone.

I didn’t want it to decay into dormancy, lose its Challenger status, and fade into the past with bitterness.

This was the right time to end it.

Even so, I found it hard to take action.

How could I not?

Prisoner.

Prisoner was practically my entire life.

If someone were to ask me what value existed in my life, I would answer without hesitation: Prisoner.

Prisoner’s achievements represented everything I had built so far.

I was Prisoner, and Prisoner was me.

Now, I had to end him with my own hands.

Even though I knew this logically, moving my hand felt impossible.

‘Still… I have to do it.’

With my resolve firmed, I moved the mouse slowly.

[Proceed with Deletion]

The decision was made.

All that remained was to act.

[Are you sure you want to delete your account?]

[Please enter your password.]

The life of a prisoner, forever confined, was now over.

I was about to embrace true freedom.

[Your account has been deleted.]

Not as Prisoner, but as myself—completely, truly me.
