Bai Xia ate her meal in small, delicate bites, all the while listening as Mo Bai, seated beside her, explained the so-called selection process for Transcendent Beings.
In essence, this elaborate selection was merely a process by which academies cultivating Transcendent Beings handpicked students with the potential to become one.
Watching the little maid intently absorb his words, Mo Bai simply swept Bai Xia onto his lap, her petite frame instantly sinking into his embrace.
“Mo—Brother Mo!” Bai Xia squirmed, but realizing the futility of it, she simply flushed crimson and ceased struggling. Her small head was nearly buried in her chest. “Didn’t I say not to do this again? I’m still eating!”
“What’s wrong? Isn’t it only natural for a maid to be embraced by her master?” Mo Bai smiled faintly, his gaze fixed on the protesting girl in his arms, and lowered his head slightly. His deep voice resonated beside Bai Xia’s ear, the warm breath causing her sensitive ear tips to tremble ever so slightly.
“I’m not—I’m not a master! It’s just an employment relationship, alright?” Bai Xia retorted, a hint of indignation in her voice.
She had only taken on the role of a maid to afford rent and support herself; it certainly wasn’t a master-servant relationship!
The word “master” seemed to strike a nerve deep within Bai Xia, making her instantly bristle. She began to twist in Mo Bai’s arms like a kitten whose tail had been stepped on.
Moreover…
What master? I will never acknowledge Mo Bai as my master!
Even if I die of embarrassment, even if I have to jump off this building, I will never call Mo Bai ‘master’!
Despite her fervent inner thoughts, Bai Xia’s small face remained flushed to her earlobes. She glared at Mo Bai in exasperation, only to instantly lose her resolve when met with his smiling eyes. She could only huff and turn her face away. “Say—say whatever you want… I still won’t admit it.”
“Hahaha…”
Mo Bai merely chuckled, saying nothing.
Truth be told, the little one’s contradictory behavior was truly adorable. It was just a shame that her hidden thoughts had long since been transparent to him.
Bai Xia had never explicitly told Mo Bai that a Bloodkin would acknowledge a master after drinking blood, but Mo Bai had already learned this from his father. That night, he had simply wanted to test the extent of a Bloodkin’s so-called “master acknowledgment.”
From her reaction that night, it seemed this “master” could command far more than he had anticipated.
“Ah, I wonder who kicked a shoe print onto my pants this morning. These are custom-made trousers, worth tens of thousands.” Mo Bai gently lifted Bai Xia’s chin with his finger, compelling her to look at him. “But a certain someone doesn’t admit to being my little maid… so it seems…”
“Eh?” As Mo Bai leaned closer, Bai Xia suddenly had an ominous premonition.
Indeed, the next moment, to Bai Xia’s astonishment, Mo Bai placed a hand on her thigh, his slender fingers gently caressing her delicate skin. Bai Xia shivered involuntarily.
He—he’s not serious, is he?
Blushing, Bai Xia tried to pull away, but Mo Bai’s other hand firmly clasped her waist. Then, under the gaze of her trembling crimson eyes, he bit his own lip and pressed his mouth to her soft lips.
No way!
“Mmgh…!”
Bai Xia’s eyes widened, her ruby-like pupils contracting instantly.
The bead of blood from Mo Bai’s lip entered her mouth, its sweet taste causing her body to react before her mind could process it. She unconsciously began to draw in the alluring blood, and her body instantly softened in Mo Bai’s embrace.
How—how could this happen?
With two previous experiences of blood absorption, Bai Xia knew precisely what her body would become like afterward—that irresistible sense of closeness and dependence would make her cling to Mo Bai like a needy kitten.
Though she hated to admit it, this was essentially how a Bloodkin behaved during their “physiological period.”
Gradually, as the blood was consumed, a misty sheen clouded Bai Xia’s ruby-like pupils. She instinctively snuggled deeper into Mo Bai’s arms, emitting soft, ingratiating whimpers.
Seems she’s in the zone?
Mo Bai released their tightly pressed lips, a playful smile curving his mouth as he looked at the dazed Bai Xia in his arms.
It seemed his guess was correct; as soon as Bai Xia drank his blood, she would enter this state of profound dependence.
However, there was nothing to be done. This was, after all, the school cafeteria, so he couldn’t take things too far…
“What do you call me?” Mo Bai’s slender fingers gently lifted Bai Xia’s chin, forcing her hazy crimson eyes to meet his.
“Ma—master…” After a moment of hesitation, the girl’s voice, as faint as a mosquito’s hum, carried a slight tremor. She had clearly become docile.
Forget struggling; at this point, she no longer even had the desire to resist Mo Bai.
Mo Bai watched the compliant Bai Xia in his arms with satisfaction, his fingertips gently caressing her flushed cheek. “That’s right.”

Later that afternoon, during class…
“So why did you feed me blood?! It’s all your fault!” Bai Xia angrily poked Mo Bai’s arm, her ruby-like eyes filled with indignant shame.
Bai Xia was furious!
He had promised to explain things to her, but then he started flirting mid-explanation! And in the crowded, exposed cafeteria, no less!
Mo Bai clearly wanted her to die of embarrassment!
And even if he was flirting, the crucial part was that he fed her blood!
…………….
Recalling her mortifying display in the cafeteria, Bai Xia wished she could dig a hole and crawl into it on the spot.
The girl huffily lifted her small foot, clad in a white-socked leather shoe, and repeatedly kicked Mo Bai’s trousers, leaving one tiny shoe print after another on his black pants.
‘Custom-made, huh? Handmade, huh? Tens of thousands, huh?’
Bai Xia kicked with even more vigor, her little leather shoes leaving a trail of adorable marks on Mo Bai’s trousers.
Mo Bai, naturally aware that his little maid was throwing a tantrum, simply let her vent. After all, it was just a pair of pants; if they got dirty, they got dirty.
“Feeling better?”
“Better, my foot! Brother Mo, do you know that Bloodkin have a reaction after drinking blood?!”
Bai Xia protested angrily from the side, her pouting lips almost capable of hanging a bottle of vinegar.
He lit the fire but didn’t put it out—wasn’t that just bullying?
Ever since Mo Bai had fed her blood, Bai Xia had felt a strange restlessness coursing through her body. She flushed and glared at Mo Bai, only to find him looking at her with a half-smile, which made her even more exasperated. “What—what are you looking at?! It’s all your fault!”
Mo Bai propped his chin on one hand, observing his bristling little maid with amusement, then teased, “So, do you want to go to the infirmary to get it ‘resolved’?”
“Who—who needs your help to resolve anything?! Pervert!” With that, Bai Xia grabbed her textbook and hurled it at Mo Bai, but he easily caught it.
Mo Bai smoothly pulled her closer and whispered in her ear, “Then I’ll help you tonight when we get home?”
“You—you—you—you—you—you!!!!!!!!!!”
