“Mo Bai, if you’re not going to listen in class, you can go outside for a bit, but don’t disturb the other students.”
The teacher finally lost patience with their playful antics. From the moment class started, he had noticed the two troublemakers in the back, but refrained from saying anything due to Mo Bai’s status. However, as their behavior became more unruly, the teacher could no longer ignore it and sternly rapped on the lectern.
Mo Bai, with excellent grades and a future as a superhuman, didn’t really need to attend classes. But others did. Fortunately, Mo Bai wasn’t unreasonable and acknowledged his fault in distracting the other student during class.
The next moment, the boy stood up gracefully, pulling a still-agitated Bai Xia to her feet. “Teacher, she’s feeling unwell, I’ll take her to the nurse’s office.”
Damn, I don’t want to go to the nurse’s office!
Bai Xia blushed, trying to protest, but was silenced by a warning look from Mo Bai. Only after being led out of the classroom and walking down the empty hallway did she angrily pull away from Mo Bai’s hand. “Who said I wanted to go to the nurse’s office? I’m perfectly fine!”
“You slept through the morning, and now I’ve dragged you out for the afternoon. I can’t even make up for the classes I missed.” Bai Xia became increasingly irritated, her voice tinged with frustration and hurt.
She had hoped that now her identity and living arrangements were settled, she could finally focus on her studies. But Mo Bai had disrupted everything again. At this thought, Bai Xia’s eyes welled up with tears.
“Sigh…”
Seeing the girl on the verge of tears, Mo Bai gently pulled her close, leaning in to wipe away the tear that had escaped her eye. Perhaps he had gone too far…
It seemed that even after becoming his pet, the blood maid was not immune to dependency and affection. Bai Xia’s distressed expression softened Mo Bai’s heart, and he sighed. “You’re not pursuing the academic path anyway, so there’s no need to continue these classes.”
“Then why do you always pick on me?” Bai Xia accused, her eyes red and her small fist clutching the corner of Mo Bai’s shirt.
“Should I apologize?” Mo Bai, in an unusual display of submission, gently embraced the girl. Despite being frequently bullied by Mo Bai, Bai Xia still had a hint of resistance, forcing Mo Bai to hug her tightly.
“Bai Xia, listen to me.”
“Wuu…”
Held firmly in Mo Bai’s embrace, Bai Xia stopped struggling, burying her face in his chest with a muffled sob. “Then… promise not to pick on me in front of others…”
Since she was already in this situation, Mo Bai wouldn’t stop teasing her. Bai Xia decided to at least negotiate better terms, avoiding further embarrassment. Besides, letting Mo Bai tease her was a way for her to repay him, as she had nothing else to offer.
“Alright, alright, I promise.” Mo Bai, exasperated, ruffled Bai Xia’s hair, his eyes flashing with affection. He leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. “But in exchange… when we’re alone, you have to be a good girl.”
“…”
“Not happy with that?”
Mo Bai’s finger lightly traced her soft chin, observing her flushed cheeks and sparkling crimson eyes with a mischievous smile. “Should we practice now, somewhere private?”
“Okay, okay! I’ll listen to you!”
Unable to bear Mo Bai’s teasing, Bai Xia surrendered in his arms, earning a satisfied pat on her head from Mo Bai. Bai Xia embodied all his fantasies about girls—proud yet easily embarrassed, flustered like a little cat, and occasionally sweet, making him want to tease her even more.
Too adorable…
“Let’s take a walk, and we’ll go back to class after the next period.”
Mo Bai released Bai Xia from his embrace and took her soft hand. Bai Xia, her face still flushed, hesitated. Not studying, was that okay?
Bai Xia was well aware of what superhumans were, but she had always been taught to focus on academics and secure a good job for herself. Now, being encouraged to abandon her studies for a superhuman career, she felt a pang of uncertainty.
“Is it okay not to go to class, Mo Bai?”
“When have I ever lied to you?”
Mo Bai immediately sensed Bai Xia’s hesitation and gently squeezed her hand. Because of the blood exchange and Mo Bai’s careless aftermath, Bai Xia’s body remained in a sensitive state, causing her already flushed cheeks to deepen further.
Indeed, Mo Bai had never lied to her. So, was it possible for her to try this path? After all, everyone said that superhumans earned more than most people could ever hope to make.
She was already inseparable from Mo Bai, so there was no downside to trying. “Oh…” Bai Xia softly agreed, nodding with a blushing face. Mo Bai, holding her hand, led her down the stairs and began a leisurely stroll through the school.
“The superhuman selection process is really about your abilities. Regular grades have little impact, especially since they’re subjective.” As they walked along the tree-lined path, Mo Bai continued, “So, if you had told me your identity earlier, all those problems could have been avoided.”
Mo Bai’s reasoning was sound, leaving Bai Xia momentarily speechless. But at the time, she had been constantly anxious about the Sword Organization, knowing only that her classmate was wealthy. With so much uncertainty, she couldn’t risk revealing her identity.
“You didn’t ask…” Bai Xia mumbled, kicking a small pebble with her foot, her face flushing.
Besides, if it weren’t for that night at the bar, where she had a part-time job and got into trouble, she wouldn’t have accidentally drunk Mo Bai’s blood, leading to her current predicament.
Hey—you little blood maid.
Mo Bai suddenly stopped, pulling Bai Xia to a small bench by the side of the path, leaning over her and resting his arms on either side, trapping her between himself and the bench. “Now, I’m asking you… is there anything else you haven’t told me?”
As the boy leaned in, Bai Xia’s heart raced, and she unconsciously bit her lip. “W-what else is there to tell? You already know everything about me…”
Bai Xia turned her head away, exposing her slightly flushed ear. Somehow, this only reinforced Mo Bai’s suspicion that she was hiding something.
Unfortunately, Mo Bai wasn’t falling for it. He had already figured out Bai Xia’s little secrets. Even if Bai Xia had more to hide, Mo Bai wasn’t worried. After all, Bai Xia couldn’t live without him, and he had all the time in the world to coax the truth out of her.
