When the bedroom door closed, it let out a sharp thud.
Ye Shengge’s face was hot and flushed. The moment he entered, he buried his head deep into the blankets, his fingers trembling as he adjusted the bathrobe.
Beneath the robe were a pair of translucent, slender white legs. The black underwear, hanging precariously from his knees and thighs as if about to fall at any moment, formed a sharp contrast with his snow-white skin, creating an incredibly alluring scene.
[Holy crap! This, this, this… I’m so excited I can barely speak.]
[LOL, that big dummy’s “lucky pants” are way too big. Our wifey can’t even wear them. Step aside and let me condemn him!]
[The bathrobe is huge too. Wifey looks like a child next to that mountain of a man.]
Knowing the audience’s temperament all too well, Ye Shengge was too embarrassed to look at the comments. He used one hand to clutch the robe shut, shielding the view, and used the other to quickly pull the underwear back up. The whole process took less than eight seconds.
Once finished, he opened his mist-filled eyes, only to see the barrage of comments scolding the “big dummy” Heavenly Master.
Ye Shengge pursed his lips, hugging a throw pillow tightly to his chest. He defended the big guy in a small, disapproving voice: “He was kind enough to take me in and even gave me his own clothes to wear. He’s already been very good to me.”
One shouldn’t be too greedy. Having a place to stay and clothes to wear instead of wandering the streets of the dungeon was already a blessing. Besides, the Heavenly Master had promised to help him suppress the Puppet Boss. Soon, he would complete this dungeon and be one step closer to home.
[Hehehe, wifey is so beautiful and kind-hearted. I really want to rua him~]
[Waaaah, forget that for a second. Wifey, don’t just focus on pulling up the bottom of the robe! The collar is gaping wide open; you’re going to be targeted by ill-intentioned perverts.]
[Wifey is so good. We get it, we won’t say bad things about the big guy anymore. But it’s so late, shouldn’t you go to sleep now?]
[Right, staying up late isn’t good. So much happened today; wifey must be exhausted.]
The audience didn’t need to say it twice; as soon as they mentioned it, a wave of fatigue swept over Ye Shengge like a tide. The few minutes of sleep in the bathtub had been practically useless.
“Goodnight, everyone. You should all sleep early too.” Ye Shengge let out a yawn and rubbed his eyes. He turned off the light, hugged his pillow, and slowly curled up into the pure black duvet, falling fast asleep.
In the middle of the night, the window and the floor-length curtains—which hadn’t been fully closed—shook violently in the wind, making a loud clatter.
Ye Shengge was jolted awake by the noise, his heart racing and his face pale with fright. He looked toward the window. Outside was even darker than when they were watching the movie. There was still no moonlight, and the distant clouds looked heavy and black, as if it could rain at any moment.
From his angle, he could see the silhouette of a large tree reflected on the glass, its branches swaying gently. The tree was tall and vast; the way its branches moved looked like a monster waving its claws. More terrifyingly, the insects hidden in the greenery and trees were making a shrill, eerie chirping sound. Occasionally, a crow’s caw drifted in from somewhere unknown.
The entire scene looked exactly like the beginning of the horror movie he had watched with the Heavenly Master earlier.
Back then, although he was scared, having the Heavenly Master by his side had lessened the fear. Not to mention the accidental “chest-burying” incident at the end, which had made him too embarrassed to stay scared.
But now, he was alone.
He was terrified that the slipping underwear would fall down in front of the big guy, so he had used the excuse of being sleepy to run to the guest room. Who knew that shortly after returning, he actually had become sleepy and fell asleep before ten?
Sleeping early often meant waking up in the middle of the night.
The worst part wasn’t waking up, but waking up and replaying the horror movie scenes in his head, scaring himself until everything looked like a crime scene. Even though he knew it was just psychological, he was still terrified.
The beautiful youth hugged his pillow tightly, fearing a disheveled ghost would pop out from nowhere. He decided that “out of sight, out of mind” was best and curled up under the covers, shivering with his eyes closed.
But in this atmosphere, closing his eyes didn’t bring comfort. Instead, it amplified his hearing.
Muffled under the blanket, he couldn’t see what was happening, but he could hear the whistling wind getting louder and the sound of a door being pushed open.
Wait… the sound of a door being pushed open?
Ye Shengge froze. He remembered clearly that he had locked the door before coming in. No matter how strong the wind was, it couldn’t blow a locked door open, right?
Then why did his room door just open?
The thought sent a chill down his spine. Ye Shengge’s eyes flew open, brimming with tears. He curled up tighter, trembling. Could it be a ghost from the movie, holding a stitched-together doll and covered in blood, coming for him?
Fate seemed to validate his fear. A series of soft footsteps sounded from the doorway. They were very faint—hard to notice if one wasn’t listening—but to Ye Shengge, who was hyper-focused under the covers, they were deafening.
The footsteps grew clearer. Every step seemed to land right on his anxious heart. He felt his heartbeat was so loud it was ringing in his ears. Just as his adrenaline spiked and he was on the verge of a breakdown, a familiar voice spoke.
“Shengge, are you awake?”
The voice was very soft, as if afraid to startle the person under the covers.
Hearing it, Ye Shengge whipped the blanket off and threw his pillow hard at the visitor’s chest. His fair face was flushed with anger, and he glared at the big dummy standing by the bed—the man who, instead of sleeping, had come to sneak into his room in the middle of the night.
“You’re not sleeping in the middle of the night and came here specifically to scare me? Is this fun for you?!”
Seeing the beautiful youth suddenly emerge with such a huffy expression, Peng Biao stood by the bed, at a total loss. He stammered out an explanation: “I… I… I didn’t mean to scare you. I saw it was about to rain and was worried you hadn’t closed the window or that you’d kicked off your blanket, so I came to check.”
However, his plan to just “quietly check” had changed the moment he saw the beautiful youth curled up and trembling under the covers. He thought: The youth must be exactly like what the “Relationship Expert” said—remembering the horror movie scenes and feeling scared.
In this situation, if he stepped up to accompany the boy, the boy would surely be moved and see him in a new light. At that thought, he couldn’t control his excitement and spoke up to ask if he was awake. He had deliberately lowered his voice to avoid scaring him, but the youth was so timid he got spooked anyway.
And not just spooked—he was furious.
Terrified of being misunderstood by his crush, Peng Biao hurriedly explained himself.
“Is that so?” Hearing the explanation, Ye Shengge’s expression softened, though he still had a bit of a temper. “But doing this is really scary, especially after we just watched that movie.”
He wanted the big dummy to fully realize his mistake.
“I’m sorry.” Peng Biao knelt down beside the bed, bowing his head in a sincere apology.
This attitude made the last of Ye Shengge’s anger vanish, but he didn’t want to let him off that easily. He decided to give him a little lesson so he’d be more mindful next time: “I was really scared by you. I probably won’t be able to fall back asleep now.”
Hearing this, Peng Biao perked up. Staring at his crush, whose bathrobe was slightly disarrayed, he said raspily, “Then… then I’ll stay and sleep with you.”
The moment the words left his mouth, they both froze.
Peng Biao’s face turned an explosive red. He stammered, “I-I’m not trying to take advantage of you! I just thought you’d be scared sleeping alone. If someone is with you, you’ll feel much safer.”
Then, afraid of making his sweetheart angry, he added a well-intentioned lie: “Because I’m also really scared after the movie. I haven’t been able to fall asleep until now.”
This gave Ye Shengge plenty of face. Any words of refusal or anger were instantly forgotten. He chose to ignore the question of why a Heavenly Master would be afraid of ghosts and let out an arrogant huff. He shifted over to give up more than half the bed. Suppressing the joy bubbling in his heart, he said bossily, “Since you put it that way, I can’t just let you stay awake from fear. Come up and sleep.”
Peng Biao never expected his crush to agree so quickly. It seemed horror movies really were effective! His eyes lit up instantly. He quickly closed the window, and fearing it would be too hot sleeping together, he turned on the AC to a comfortable temperature before diving onto the bed.
Lying there, Peng Biao was so excited he wanted to shout. He couldn’t sleep at all.
As for Ye Shengge on the other side, having another living person nearby caused his fear to vanish. Drowsiness returned, and he soon drifted off.
Listening to the youth’s steady breathing, Peng Biao didn’t dare move an inch, terrified of waking him and being ruthlessly kicked out of the room.
However, just because he didn’t move didn’t mean his crush wouldn’t.
When Ye Shengge slept alone, his posture was very proper. But with someone else in the bed, he changed completely. As he slept, he suddenly rolled over and instinctively reached out to hug something.
Peng Biao, now being used as a human body pillow with the youth’s arms wrapped around his chest, went rigid. He stared at the ceiling with wide, panicked eyes, his face completely flushed.
But the beautiful youth wasn’t done with him yet.
Sensing that the warm “pillow” in his arms felt hundreds of times better than his usual one, the half-asleep Ye Shengge buried his head into the man’s chest. He rubbed his face against him a few times and let out a satisfied smack of his lips.
At that moment, Peng Biao’s eyes turned red with emotion.
