The Student Council’s Intervention

Chapter 59 • 1,439 words • 12 min read

In the quiet classroom, Lin Yi was drowsily sprawled across his desk. He kept his eyes barely open, just a slit, to ensure he wouldn’t miss the bell for the next class. It was all the previous teacher’s fault; their lecture had sounded more like a bedtime story. If Lin Yi hadn’t stubbornly fought off sleep, he would have been slumped over his desk just like the rest of his classmates.

Overwhelmed by an irresistible drowsiness, his amber eyes slowly began to close.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed, as if someone had slammed a desk. The abrupt noise startled Lin Yi, jolting his hazy consciousness back to a degree of clarity.

Turning his head toward the source of the sound, he saw what appeared to be a petite girl. From Lin Yi’s angle, he could only glimpse her profile, and his vision, still blurry with sleep, made it hard to discern her features.

Yet, he was certain she was someone he didn’t know.

Convinced it had nothing to do with him, Lin Yi prepared to resume his nap when a fragrant scent wafted towards him.

“Stop sleeping. Come with me.”

The voice drifted hazily into Lin Yi’s ears, making him wonder if he was hallucinating. It wasn’t until Ling Qianwu tugged sharply at his hair that his mind fully cleared.

He looked up, his eyes meeting the petite girl’s in confusion, utterly unaware of what was happening.

“What’s going on?”

Seeing Lin Yi’s bewildered expression, Ling Qianwu let out a short, exasperated laugh. She stood before his desk, her head tilted in a dismissive manner.

Her twin ponytails swayed gently with the angle of her head.

“You know perfectly well what this is about.”

Ling Qianwu’s disdainful tone instantly ignited Lin Yi’s temper. However, she was the Student Vice President, and no matter how furious he felt, he had no desire to antagonize her.

“I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Observing Lin Yi’s continued pretense of ignorance, Ling Qianwu sneered, then seized his hair and yanked him forward.

Despite her small stature, she possessed surprising strength. She forcibly dragged Lin Yi from his chair, a substantial clump of his hair tearing free in her grip.

Before Lin Yi could even react, a familiar voice rang out from behind him.

“Release him!”

Unlike her usual voice, which was as warm as spring sunshine, Chen Sishi’s tone now resembled solid ice in winter, sending a chilling sensation through anyone who heard it.

Ling Qianwu arched an eyebrow, turning to meet Chen Sishi’s gaze for a few tense seconds. Then, narrowing her eyes slightly, she spoke in a frigid tone.

“Why should I? Since when does the Student Council need your permission to apprehend someone?”

Chen Sishi offered her no pleasantries, and naturally, Ling Qianwu returned the sentiment. The two girls were like clashing steel swords, each presenting their sharpest edge in a silent battle.

“If I wished, I could have you removed from your position at any moment.”

The silver-haired girl’s expression was chillingly grim, her eyes devoid of any spark. She stepped forward, positioning half her body in front of Lin Yi.

“Who do you think you are? I, Ling Qianwu, have never feared anyone!”

The atmosphere crackled with tension, the volatile air threatening to engulf the entire classroom.

The few girls who hadn’t yet fallen asleep poked their heads up after hearing the commotion, eager to see what was unfolding. The palpable hostility at the front of the room clearly signaled a major drama about to erupt.

Some even conjured up elaborate scenarios in their minds: perhaps Lin Yi, the scoundrel, was two-timing, and his two girlfriends had unexpectedly met, leading to a public confrontation.

Or, two girls were fighting over Lin Yi, the school heartthrob, only for someone else to seize the opportunity amidst the chaos.

It was undeniable that Lin Yi’s face stirred the hearts of many girls. Much like adolescent boys, girls, too, would harbor all sorts of fantasies when encountering someone who perfectly fit their ideal.

Moreover, the original male lead’s popularity wasn’t low, and almost everyone in the class had interacted with him. This significantly fueled the unrealistic fantasies that the opposite s*x in the class had about Lin Yi.

Qin Ruoxue, who had been diligently working on problems, looked up at the commotion. Only when she saw Chen Sishi shielding Lin Yi behind her like a protective hen guarding its chick did she realize something was amiss.

“What is going on? What’s all this shouting about? This is a classroom, not a place for you to fight!”

Her voice was stern. Qin Ruoxue approached, her face cold. Ling Qianwu, still willing to show Qin Ruoxue some respect, subtly took a step back, turning her face away with an air of haughtiness.

Chen Sishi had no intention of getting entangled with Ling Qianwu either. However, Ling Qianwu had dared to pull *her* Lin Yi’s hair, and Chen Sishi absolutely had to get even for him.

“Is this how your Student Council operates? Showing up and trying to take someone away without a single word? Your authority is truly immense, isn’t it?”

As if ignoring Qin Ruoxue’s presence, Chen Sishi continued to relentlessly needle Ling Qianwu. Ling Qianwu’s face cycled between shades of green and white at her words.

Indeed, Ling Qianwu currently lacked concrete evidence to prove that Lin Yi was the one with Li Yan last night. Yet, adhering to the principle of rather punishing a thousand innocents than letting one guilty party escape, Ling Qianwu certainly wouldn’t back down.

This was one of the Student Council’s most severely punished offenses; no student had the right to tamper with, destroy, or steal Student Council documents. Any such actions were considered extremely egregious, with the lightest punishment involving a formal reprimand, criticism, and a mandatory parent conference.

While expulsion had no precedent, the principal and school teachers consistently emphasized that students could be expelled for extremely heinous conduct within the school.

Ling Qianwu rubbed her forehead in exasperation; she was indeed at a disadvantage here. Moreover, there was no definitive confirmation that Lin Yi and Li Yan were the two individuals from last night.

However, with things having escalated this far, Ling Qianwu felt it would be awkward to back down now. Her small face was stormy, looking as though it might drip water.

After a prolonged silence, Ling Qianwu finally let out a helpless sigh.

“Even so, he must still come with me. After all, this matter is severe, and I am merely following the rules.”

They stared at each other for a long moment, Lin Yi’s reflection mirrored in Chen Sishi’s unlit eyes.

Lin Yi offered her a faint smile and leaned in to whisper in her ear.

“It’s fine, just for a little while.”

“Also… thank you, Sishi, for standing up for me this time.”

As he spoke, Lin Yi carefully moved closer to Chen Sishi’s head, exhaling softly near her ear. The gesture was subtle, like sharing a secret, so much so that neither Ling Qianwu nor Qin Ruoxue, standing opposite them, noticed anything unusual.

Lin Yi had originally intended to mimic Chen Sishi’s action from that morning, hoping to at least win a round against her. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to do it; merely making the gesture sent his heart rate soaring. Lin Yi would readily admit it was the boldest decision he had made in his life.

Feeling the brush of air against her ear, the girl’s pale cheeks rapidly flushed crimson. In an instant, a chaotic explosion of wild thoughts erupted and surged through Chen Sishi’s mind.

Her gaze never left Lin Yi, her mind now utterly consumed.

‘My body has already been branded with Lin Yi’s mark, and his lips carry my scent.’

‘Therefore, Lin Yi is now mine. He belongs to me completely, every inch of his skin, every cell, has become mine.’

With that thought, Chen Sishi abruptly clung to Lin Yi’s arm, much like a hungry kitten incessantly nuzzling its owner.

“Nyah~ Lin Yi, if you don’t come back by noon, I’ll come looking for you, okay?”

Hearing this, Lin Yi let out a sigh of relief, forcing a smile as he nodded.

“I understand.”

With that, he swiftly followed behind Ling Qianwu, as if afraid that lingering for another moment would prompt Chen Sishi to do something further.

Gazing at his retreating back, Chen Sishi’s face was flushed. She delicately touched her ear with a slender hand. As her fingers brushed the spot where Lin Yi had just exhaled, the blush on her face deepened even further.
