Seeing the Ranger fire off long-range shots, I backstepped and weighed my options.
Checking their gear, the Ranger’s equipment was clearly superior to the Gunner’s.
Seems they specced heavily into piercing damage. Should I take out the annoying Ranger first or stick to my goal of killing the Gunner?
Before I could decide, my hands moved on instinct.
The Ranger was irritating, but it made sense to quickly eliminate the less-geared Gunner first, then deal with the Ranger.
As a ranged class, the farther they got, the trickier it’d be, but back in my day, I was an arena ghost.
If crits landed, this should be manageable. That’s when it happened.
“What now?”
[All/CameToDie: So cheap, ganging up two-on-one.]
[All/CameToDie: Now it’s two-on-two.]
[All/YoloClan: Who’s that?]
[All/DinkClan: Lol, isn’t that SoonToDie’s lackey?]
Lackey? Who? I don’t know this guy! Before I could type, CameToDie unleashed a combo on the Gunner, shredding their HP in seconds.
The chat exploded with question marks. My head was full of them too. Not even max level—how’s he dealing that kind of damage? What’s he doing to pull that off?
His antics didn’t stop there. With a Gunner, a class that thrives on keeping distance, he closed in on YoloClan and used Close-Quarters Fire, a skill most Gunners skip. Almost no one plays a low-HP Gunner class up close like that. Freesia’s world is truly unpredictable.
CameToDie stuck to YoloClan, stunning them every time they tried to cast a skill, piling on damage with relentless Close-Quarters Fire. He dodged incoming attacks with pure movement, and I couldn’t help but let out a gasp of awe. No average veteran could move like that. This guy’s a master among masters.
[All/DinkClan: Wtf; What’s that?]
[All/DinkClan: That’s possible?]
[All/CameToDie: Yup.]
Of course it is. He’s doing it because it’s possible. For a moment, it felt like this PK was his, not mine—he was having a blast.
A guy who was level 1 not long ago, moving like that, landing skills without a single mistake—it was mesmerizing. But I couldn’t just stand there.
Deciding to leave the Gunner to CameToDie, I turned to the Ranger, chaining various combos.
The Ranger, distracted by CameToDie, hurriedly backstepped to create distance. Let the gap widen, and I might as well retire my Berserker.
Even with low defense, Berserker’s a melee powerhouse. No way it’s weaker than a Ranger. As long as I kept close, my single-hit cancel guaranteed victory. My prediction held—once the gap closed, the Ranger couldn’t handle the onslaught and went down.
Ignoring the Ranger’s furious cursing in chat, I checked on the Gunner fight, and it was an unexpected spectacle.
I thought YoloClan, with level and gear advantage, would win, but CameToDie, not even max level, was dominating. The reason was simple: he dodged every single attack with flawless movement, landing only critical hits.
“What is this guy…?”
His control was unreal. I don’t think I could pull that off. Sure, with my main Berserker, I could manage with focus, but on an alt class? Maybe after practice, but not that perfectly. Ranged classes aren’t my thing anyway.
Debating whether to help, I saw YoloClan angling for an escape with backsteps and jumped in with a skill from behind. They’d taken a beating while I fought the Ranger and melted instantly. Checking CameToDie’s level, I saw he was 92—yesterday he was 76. Why’s he following me? With that skill, he could just power to max level.
[All/YoloClan: Yo ** what are you?]
[All/YoloClan: Such a buzzkill;;]
[All/YoloClan: You’re a Gunner too, why interfere?]
[All/CameToDie: You go back to town.]
[All/DinkClan: ** **** you ****]
“You go back to town”? Is that a riff on “Go to Hawaii”? Panicking slightly at their heated curses, I typed.
[All/SoonToDie: I don’t know him.]
[All/DinkClan: Stop ** lying, everyone on the forums knows he follows you, you ****.]
[All/SoonToDie: I don’t read forums.]
They don’t believe the truth. I don’t know what’s being said on the forums, but it’s clearly not good. Getting cursed out was expected, but I didn’t think I’d get tied to CameToDie.
I’m not lying—I really don’t know who he is. He’s got nothing to do with my gaming life.
[All/CameToDie: Why say we’re nothingㅠ]
[All/CameToDie: After all the time I spent chasing you…]
That’s your problem. Who asked you to follow me? I let out a hollow laugh. He did chase me a lot—to get killed. No matter how good at the game, a weirdo’s always a weirdo.
The Gunner and Ranger, cursing nonstop while down, finally revived and returned to town.
This was my first time taking on two at once since I started PKing. With the Trans precedent, next time I might face a full party of four or more. I was planning to quit after this, so maybe it’s for the best.
Or maybe they’ll form a party just to hunt me down.
Now that I think about it, that sounds thrilling. Users forming a party to take me down… sounds fun. Looking at the vanished traces of the two bodies, I typed.
[All/SoonToDie: Serious question, who the hell are you?]
[All/CameToDie: I came to die for you.]
[All/SoonToDie: Not that, what do you do that you keep chasing me to die?]
[All/SoonToDie: Do you know me?]
In all my time playing Freesia, I’ve barely met users who liked me. Just raid members and guildmates at best. I’m not the type to socialize much, so that’s about it. Maybe that’s why I’m genuinely curious about CameToDie, with his insane control, randomly showing up to get killed. Why me, out of everyone, to beg for death?
[All/CameToDie: I can’t forgive the Gunners stealing your love.]
[All/SoonToDie: What kind of nonsense is that;]
[All/SoonToDie: I’m asking what you do!]
[All/CameToDie: Curious? Pay 500 won.]
Ugh, my blood pressure. Maybe I should just ignore him. That’d be better for my mental health. Clenching my trembling fists and taking a deep breath, CameToDie typed again.
[All/CameToDie: Does it matter who I am? What matters is my love for you.]
[CameToDie expresses affection toward SoonToDie.]
Just a typical lunatic? But he’s too good at the game for a typical lunatic—a skilled lunatic. Rubbing my chin, I placed my hands on the keyboard.
[All/SoonToDie: I’m done PKing.]
[All/SoonToDie: So stop following me.]
[All/CameToDie: ?]
[All/CameToDie: Wait, what?]
[All/CameToDie: Why?]
[All/CameToDie: Is it because of me?]
[All/CameToDie: No, what am I supposed to do without you…]
Figure it out yourself. Ignoring the flood of chats, I returned to town. Time to take a break and eat. As I lifted my hands from the keyboard to get up, a duel request popped up.
[All/Ibera: Yoㅋㅋㅋㅋ Accept it quick.]
[All/SoonToDie: Who’re you?]
[All/Ibera: Guildmate of the Gunner and Ranger you killedㅋㅋㅋㅋ Accept it now.]
Why should I? I hit reject and opened the system window to block duel requests. The stream of requests stopped instantly.
[All/Ibera: What? Why not accept? You took Trans’s challengeㅋㅋ Scared now?]
[All/SoonToDie: Nah, just…]
[All/SoonToDie: Too lame ㅎ]
[All/Ibera: ** lol;]
[All/Ibera: You did this, just accept it.]
[All/SoonToDie: Too much hassle.]
[All/SoonToDie: If you’re mad, PK me. We can throw down right here.]
[All/SoonToDie: No confidence for PK but confident for PVP?]
[All/SoonToDie: Smacking that selective confidence pow!]
I gave a faint smile at the familiar flood of curses.
Do these guys share a brain network or something? Why’s everyone acting the same? If they’re gonna pick a fight, I wish it was at least creative, like CameToDie.
His weird shtick was infuriating but fun.
Guess the game’s just about filling my block list.
