The Activated Teleportation Array and a Looming Challenge

Chapter 601,537 words13 min read

Two more minutes elapsed by the time Ye Jue and his companions respawned and returned. During this time, Iron Blood Berserker was detailing Lin Shenyue’s family background, including some of her closer relatives.

From a distance, Ye Jue observed Lin Shenyue chatting with Iron Blood Berserker, a faint unease stirring within him, mixed with a sense of helplessness. Having lived two lives, his emotional intelligence was undoubtedly high, especially considering he had been hurt by love once before.

Judging by Lin Shenyue’s demeanor, her family background was clearly extraordinary; pursuing her successfully would likely demand considerable effort on his part.

Of course, as a reborn individual, Ye Jue had never felt inferior. He possessed foreknowledge of the world’s future developments, understanding that this game would play a pivotal role. Given his familiarity with it, his future achievements were bound to be significant.

What Ye Jue did not know, however, was that while Lin Shenyue’s father was from an influential family, he had not relied on its power. Instead, through diligent study, he had risen to become an academician at the Academy of Sciences, eventually marrying Qin Yuxin, the beloved treasure of the Qin family.

From the perspective of lineage, Lin Feimu would never look down on someone of humble origins, and as his wife, Qin Yuxin naturally shared this sentiment. Furthermore, Ye Jue was unaware that his primary obstacle would be Lin Shenyue herself, along with numerous other unforeseen challenges.

Lin Shenyue, oblivious to Ye Jue’s internal musings, turned to the group once everyone had gathered. “Shall we loot the BOSS?” she inquired.

Having cleared many dungeons together, the others understood the terrifying extent of Lin Shenyue’s luck. Without hesitation, they all agreed to let her take the lead.

Lin Shenyue stepped forward to loot the BOSS. After she was done, a look of surprise crossed her face.

“What’s wrong?” Ye Jue asked.

Lin Shenyue shared the retrieved items with the party. Although the system would also announce what was found, the specific details were not visible until shared.

Lin Shenyue had looted two Gold-tier items, four Silver-tier items, several Bronze-tier items, and a few Iron-tier pieces. Additionally, she found a blueprint and a High-grade Potion Recipe.

Nearly five gold coins also dropped, which, while not a significant sum to the group, remained the game’s hard currency. Furthermore, the BOSS’s death instantly granted nearly 80,000 experience points. Despite his earlier death, Ye Jue still managed to reach Level 10.

Lin Shenyue, after reaching Level 10, even had an additional 50,000 experience points. However, she was also startled by the experience requirement for Level 11, which had quadrupled from the initial 100,000 to a staggering 500,000. While monster experience would increase after Level 10, it typically only rose by a maximum of 1.5 times; some monsters offered only slightly more experience than those of the previous level.

The two Gold-tier items were a necklace and a staff.

The Silver-tier equipment included one Plate Armor Helmet, one Leather Armor Belt, one Cloth Armor Pants, and one Plate Armor Pants.

The High-grade Potion Recipe was for a High-grade Health Potion: Restores 2,000 HP over 10 seconds.

The blueprint was for a weapon: a Level 10 Silver-tier Dagger. The attributes of the crafted weapon would vary. To craft a weapon, a player’s level must be at least that of the weapon, and the weapon’s quality corresponds to the player’s Blacksmithing skill level; a Silver-tier weapon requires at least Intermediate Blacksmithing.

Weapons crafted by Ye Jue’s Blacksmithing skill would have 20% higher attributes than those generally crafted, and there was a very low chance of adding special effects.

After reviewing the items, Ye Jue mused, “The staff and necklace go to Yue’er. We’ll take the recipe and blueprint. You all can divide the rest.” What Ye Jue didn’t mention was that after reaching Level 10 and completing their first class advancement, class instructors would provide each player with a set of equipment based on their advancement challenge. However, very few managed to obtain Silver-tier equipment from these challenges, so he wasn’t being unfair.

While Iron Blood Plume understood the immense value of these two items for the guild’s development, he still coveted the staff. Thus, he readily agreed to Ye Jue’s proposal.

Divine Wind obtained a Silver-tier belt and a Bronze-tier ring. Although the ring’s quality wasn’t high, as a Level 10 item, its attributes were comparable to a Level 8 Silver-tier item. Since he hadn’t reached Level 10 yet, he stored it in his bag.

Fissure took both plate armor pieces, also storing them in their bag as their level was insufficient. Iron Blood Plume received the staff and pants. Having already reached Level 10, they immediately equipped them and went off to show them off proudly.

After the distribution was complete, Lin Shenyue turned to Iron Blood Berserker. “Thank you for your help, Uncle Wu,” she said.

Iron Blood Berserker chuckled. “No need, Yue’er. Your matters are my matters. If you ever have any trouble, just come find me.”

After thanking him again, Lin Shenyue bid farewell to everyone and departed with Ye Jue.

Iron Blood Berserker watched Iron Blood Plume, who was grinning from ear to ear. With a twitch of his lips, he slapped him on the head. “Look how happy you are. Alright, let’s head back quickly. With your new equipment, we should be able to attempt that BOSS now.”

“The BOSS we found yesterday?” Iron Blood Plume asked, surprised.

Iron Blood Berserker nodded. “While calling Yue’er and her group would make it much easier, Yue’er isn’t willing to join my guild, so I don’t want her involved in these inter-team transactions. Besides, they’re already Level 10; they probably wouldn’t even care for an 8th-level BOSS anymore.”

Noticing Fissure and Divine Wind bidding farewell and preparing to leave, Iron Blood Berserker approached them with an invitation. “Would you two be interested in joining our guild? Our guild has an excellent atmosphere, and we offer generous benefits.”

After a moment of thought, both Fissure and Divine Wind declined.

“My friend is already planning to create a guild; I’ll definitely be joining them then,” Fissure explained.

“I’m used to being alone and don’t wish to join a guild for now,” Divine Wind stated.

Iron Blood Berserker shook his head regretfully. “Alright, if you ever decide to join a guild, you can contact Iron Blood Plume anytime.”

The five members of their small team had already added each other as friends, making communication convenient. Fissure and Divine Wind both agreed, stating they would consider their guild if they ever decided to join one.

Lin Shenyue and Ye Jue were unaware of these events. They returned to the Village Chief and submitted their quest.

[Ding! Congratulations on completing the main quest ‘Activate Teleportation Array’. You have gained 78,000 (66,000) experience points, one skill book, 50 reputation points, and 3 gold coins.]

The Village Chief seemed surprised. “You actually defeated the Tiger King so quickly. It seems I underestimated you. Wait a moment; I will activate the teleportation array.”

After speaking, the Village Chief turned and walked to the side. Ye Jue knew that was the location of the teleportation array, but Lin Shenyue, unaware, watched the Village Chief with considerable curiosity.

Upon reaching the spot, the Village Chief placed a pile of materials on the ground and began to chant. A flash of light appeared, and a small teleportation array materialized on the ground, its flowing light indicating it was now operational.

[System Announcement: Teleportation Array in Novice Village No. 1 has been activated. Players who meet the level requirement can now use the teleportation array to travel to the main city.]

[Congratulations on activating the teleportation array! As a reward for being the first to activate it, you receive +500 Reputation.]

Though Lin Shenyue didn’t know the purpose of reputation, seeing the system, which had been stingy several times, finally grant a substantial number, she knew reputation was definitely not a bad thing.

After repairing the teleportation array, the Village Chief smiled at Lin Shenyue. “The teleportation array has been repaired. Are you leaving now?”

Lin Shenyue looked at Ye Jue. After a moment of thought, Ye Jue found nothing left undone and nodded. “We’ll leave now.” With that, he led Lin Shenyue onto the teleportation array.

Upon hearing his confirmation, a formal smile appeared on the Village Chief’s face, and his voice became mechanical. “Please select the city for teleportation.”

Ye Jue looked at the four largest main cities. “Vermilion Bird City,” he stated. Vermilion Bird City was the main city he was most familiar with, and also one of the four great human main cities.

“Confirming teleportation.” A flash of light enveloped them, and the two vanished from the teleportation array.

The Village Chief watched the disappearing pair, pondered for a moment, then finally smiled and resumed his stationary position.
