“Has the girl been brought in?”
“Uh… is this a sacrifice?”
“No, of course not. She’s the one who will help us complete the great mission of bringing the Lord into this world.”
“…”
In the dimly lit room, a shadow (probably) fell silent for a moment, then spoke as if somewhat speechless: “Isn’t this a bit too cruel?”
“Cruel?”
“No, no, no, how could you think that?”
“This is the highest honor!” Another shadow, as if hearing a great joke, suddenly became excited and raised his voice: “At that time, the Lord will descend upon the world, cleanse all heresies, and lead us to the stars!”
“You can’t reason with people like you. Just don’t forget my things.”
“Hah, of course not.” The shadow gave a sinister laugh, then pulled out a crystal glowing with an eerie purple light from under his black robe: “Solid pain, here’s what you want.”
“Um… the person you want is here.” Seeing his payment, the shadow nodded in satisfaction, then lightly clapped his hands.
The next moment, the sound of chains dragging came from the corner, and a silver-haired girl was roughly pulled out, her fragile body thrown to the ground.
She looked at the shadowy figures surrounding her in the dim light, her blood-red eyes filled with terror. Her mouth was taped with black duct tape, trembling but unable to speak, only able to make weak moaning sounds.
“Payment received.” Seeing that the person was in hand, the shadow tossed the purple crystal to the other: “Although it has nothing to do with me, I still want to remind you to be careful when using the Solid Pain.”
“You don’t need to worry about that.” The shadow gave a cold laugh, placed the purple crystal in a special container, and then walked towards the door: “Give my regards to the stars.”
…
After sending off the guest, the shadow slowly turned to the girl huddled on the ground, looking at him with a face full of panic. From somewhere, a bony finger held a ritual dagger glinting with cold light.
“Mmm…!” Seeing the shadow approach with the dagger, the girl shrank back in terror, but her body was tightly bound by chains, and she could only make desperate moans.
Is there anyone who can save her…
The girl closed her eyes in despair, her body trembling uncontrollably, until she felt the cold touch of metal against her neck…
At that moment, intense fear made her small body tremble like a sieve, and an unknown liquid seeped from under the girl.
“Do you want to live?” The dagger pressed against the girl’s throat, and the shadow leaned down, whispering in her ear with a wicked grin.
The girl nodded trembling, hoping for a glimmer of hope. After all, who wouldn’t want to live if they could?
If only they would let her go, she would do anything.
Seeing the girl submit, the shadow nodded in satisfaction, then put away the dagger and lightly stroked the girl’s cheek with bony fingers, then tore off the duct tape from her mouth: “A wise choice.”
The girl, now able to speak again, gasped for breath from fear, her small body slumped in front of the shadow, too scared to make any extra movements: “P-please… please let me go…”
She had been kidnapped by this organization for nearly half a month, and now suddenly transferred here, her spirit was already on the verge of collapse.
Initially, she had hoped her buyer would be someone a bit more normal, but this madman made her realize she might never escape this nightmare.
Right now… she could only take things one step at a time…
The shadow enjoyed the girl’s desperate expression, and if it weren’t for the need of this mission, he would have really wanted to keep this cute blood maid and “train” her slowly.
Looking closely, the girl did have a few similarities with Bai Xia, especially the white hair and ruby-like eyes, but after so many days of torment, her eyes had lost all their luster.
“I’m giving you a chance. If you complete my task, I’ll give you your freedom.” The shadow laughed wickedly, pulling out a red vial: “Just be a good girl…”
Seeing the vial, the girl instantly widened her eyes in terror, her body shaking violently.
During the half month she was captured, she wasn’t the only one to see other captured beings injected with this vial, and later she found out that once injected, one had to regularly take the antidote, otherwise they would suffer unbearable pain.
“No… don’t…” The girl shook her head in despair, her small body trying to shrink back, but was held tightly by the chains.
She had seen with her own eyes those who were injected with the vial and couldn’t get the antidote in time, tortured until they were in agony, a scene that could be described as bloody.
Facing the pleading girl, the shadow only chuckled, then her jaw was gripped by the bony hand, unable to struggle anymore.
“Don’t worry, this time it’s a specially made improved version for female blood maids.” The shadow laughed wickedly, pressing the needle against the girl’s neck: “It will make you… very comfortable…”
The syringe slowly pierced the girl’s skin, and the cold vial began to enter her veins.
The next moment, her ruby-like eyes contracted, and her body convulsed uncontrollably until, finally, her twitching body went limp on the floor, her eyes glazed over, staring at the ceiling, saliva dripping from the corner of her mouth. Only then did the shadow throw the empty vial aside.
“Once you complete the task, the antidote will be yours. If not, this vial will make you burn with desire every so often, probably a bit more intense than your heat cycle.”
“So, do you understand?”
Looking at the girl lying limp on the floor, the shadow asked nonchalantly.
After a while, the girl on the floor finally showed some reaction, nodding weakly at the shadow, her eyes blank and hollow.
“You’ll like the task I give you.” The shadow gave a devilish smile and then turned to leave.
…
……
“So, you want me to kill someone?”
A few days later, standing in an office in the imperial capital, the girl looked nervously at the man in a suit in front of her.
After some grooming, the girl had returned to her former self, her silver hair smoothly falling over her shoulders, her cute face showing a hint of anxiety, and her ruby-like eyes, if looked at closely, were remarkably similar to Bai Xia’s, about seven or eight out of ten.
“Not exactly killing. The Imperial Sword Agency is cracking down hard, so killing is out of the question.” The man in a suit pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up and slid a file to the girl: “All you need to do now is get close to that girl and report back to us.”
“…”
“I’ll arrange for you to enroll. That’s all for now.” The man waved his hand, handed her a file, and gestured for the girl to leave.
She opened the file and saw a photo of Bai Xia, the girl with a striking resemblance to her, causing her pupils to contract slightly, her fingers unconsciously clutching the edge of the file, somewhat incredulous.
Is this… my sister?
