The Path to Becoming a Demon Lord

Chapter 60702 words6 min read

Chapter 8

The title of Demon Lord is bestowed upon the pinnacle of all demonkind, a position that commands both respect and awe. To achieve this status, one must meet extraordinarily stringent conditions. To become a Demon Lord, one must possess not only unparalleled power but also an exceptionally noble lineage.

In simpler terms, to be a Demon Lord, one’s bloodline must be pure and noble, and their level must reach at least one hundred.

Level one hundred is the pinnacle that all beings on this continent can aspire to. Beyond level seventy, progress becomes agonizingly slow, and many spend their entire lives without reaching it. Christy, the current Demon Lord, is hailed as a genius among demons for reaching such heights at just ten years old.

Many believe Christy might be the first to transcend the level one hundred barrier, entering a new realm. Thus, she is often referred to as the strongest and most terrifying monster in demon history.

At the thought of practicing magic with such a formidable being, both Lisbeth and Staros took a deep breath. Staros shook her head vigorously, exclaiming, “Olivia, you know as well as I do the power of the Demon Lord. Her magic could obliterate us in an instant. So even if the potions are invaluable, we can’t risk our lives for them!”

“Calm down, both of you. It’s not as bad as you think.”

Seeing Staros on the verge of losing control, Olivia quickly shook her head. “Although the Demon Lord is formidable, she is also kind. She knows her limits. The magic training is merely a test of her magic’s power and precision, and you’ll only need to endure a few hits. Nothing will go wrong.”

“Wait! A few hits? One hit from the Demon Lord could end us!”

Both Lisbeth and Staros decided to forgo the opportunity, knowing that their lives were at stake. Lisbeth took a deep breath and said, “Olivia, enough is enough. We won’t risk our lives for potions. If you insist on destroying them, we can’t stop you. So unless there’s more, Staros and I are leaving.”

“I feel the same way. Take care, Olivia.”

Lisbeth spoke for Staros, and as they prepared to leave the lab, Olivia waved her hand urgently. “Wait! I haven’t finished. While it’s true you’ll take some hits, I never said I wouldn’t provide protection.”

“Moreover, you two are invaluable to the Demon Lord’s Castle. I wouldn’t put you in danger. I was just joking. You’re not that afraid, are you?”

“You should have said that earlier!”

Relieved, Lisbeth and Staros turned back. Olivia sighed and continued, “In summary, come back in a few days for the magic training. I’ll provide all the protective gear and explain the process. You can leave now.”

“Alright, if that’s the case, we’ll help. But remember, the potions are ours after this.”

“Of course~”

After making the agreement, Lisbeth and Staros left Olivia’s lab. However, they didn’t hear Olivia’s final words.

“I’ll give you the potions, but I never promised they would work.”

****

“Phew, Lisbeth, who would have thought we’d get a chance at those potions? That’s great news.”

“I know, I thought my chest was doomed to sag forever.”

As they left Olivia’s lab, Lisbeth and Staros chatted casually. Although the busiest time in the Demon Lord’s Castle was approaching, they enjoyed their rare moment of leisure, strolling through the castle’s corridors.

“So, what did you mean by ‘big feast for the eyes’?”

“You’ll see. Just wait and see.”

****

“What do you mean? And why haven’t I heard about this before?”

“Because I fought for this opportunity! I might not have been here long, but my experience speaks for itself!”

Lisbeth grabbed Staros’ hand, her eyes filled with determination. “What time does it start? And what are the entry requirements?”

“You’re interested too?”

“Of course! While direct voyeurism is tacky, I can’t miss a chance like this!”

Staros nodded calmly. “I understand your excitement, but I can’t bring you in directly. However, there is another way.”

“What do you mean?”

“Think about it. If you can’t get in as a judge, what other role could you play?”

“You mean I should participate in the selection?”
