Moving into the Pavilion

Chapter 61 • 1,476 words • 13 min read

Yan Yun felt awkward. After a moment of contemplation, she offered an explanation that barely sufficed.

“Well, the situation was far too urgent just now. I simply decided to try, attempting to absorb the toxins from your body with my poison cultivation technique. I never expected it to actually succeed.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Meng gazed into Yan Yun’s eyes and pondered for a moment.

“Oh, I see? A great kindness such as this transcends mere words of thanks, Junior Sister Ziyun. Should I ever succeed in cultivating the poison cultivation technique in the future, I swear I will never forget the life-saving grace you’ve shown me today.” Wen Meng stated solemnly.

A life-saving act, indeed, was the greatest kindness one could bestow, and Yan Yun’s unintentional benevolence had, in its own way, forged a good karma for herself.

“Sister Wen Meng, I’m about to leave the medicine garden for Purple Abyss Pavilion. If you wish to continue attempting to cultivate the poison cultivation technique, you can find me there. As the sole disciple of Purple Abyss Pavilion for now, the Sect Master has granted me the authority to act on behalf of the Pavilion Master.” Yan Yun reminded her.

Wen Meng nodded.

“Very well. Should I attempt to cultivate the poison cultivation technique again, I will certainly seek you out at Purple Abyss Pavilion.”

Yan Yun did not linger there. After gathering her belongings, she departed the medicine garden and settled into the disciple’s residence at Purple Abyss Pavilion.

The abode of a formal disciple far surpassed that of an auxiliary disciple, akin to the residence of a noble young lady in the mortal world. However, with her being the sole occupant of Purple Abyss Pavilion, it felt undeniably desolate.

“Ah! In just a few short months, life has undergone a truly earth-shattering transformation,” Yan Yun exclaimed with a sigh.

Yan Lingyun, too, immediately floated out from within her body.

“You rascal, your future achievements will undoubtedly surpass mine. It seems my revival truly holds hope now,” Yan Lingyun remarked, her voice filled with emotion.

“This is merely the beginning; we still have much to accomplish, so let’s not rejoice too soon,” Yan Yun replied.

Soon after, the Yunhua Sect issued another decree, forbidding disciples from privately cultivating poison cultivation techniques. Instead, all those who wished to cultivate it were directed to Purple Abyss Pavilion, where the sect would provide them with the necessary medicinal ingredients for forming a poisonous physique, free of charge.

These medicinal ingredients were relatively common and held little value for a cultivation sect; they were available in abundance. Coupled with the guidance they could receive from Yan Yun, cultivators eager to practice the poison cultivation technique were naturally overjoyed, for no one wished to die in the process.

A few mornings later, as dawn was just breaking, Yan Yun had barely stepped out of her residence when a clamor of voices reached her ears.

The commotion emanated from the main entrance of Purple Abyss Pavilion.

“Is Senior Sister Ziyun here? We have come to seek guidance on cultivating the poison cultivation technique.”

“Junior Sister Ziyun, please come out and meet us.”

A crowd of people was waiting at the entrance.

Upon hearing the commotion, Yan Yun walked over and opened the door.

Living alone, she naturally kept her door closed.

“Coming, coming, stop knocking,” Yan Yun called out before pulling the door open.

However, the moment the door swung open, she was startled to find the entrance packed with people—auxiliary disciples, outer disciples, and even a few inner disciples were present in droves.

“Senior Sister Ziyun, we are auxiliary disciples from the medicine garden. Have we met before? You said that if we wanted to cultivate the poison cultivation technique, we should come to Purple Abyss Pavilion.”

“Junior Sister Ziyun, I am an outer disciple of the Yunhua Sect. I wish to ask if there are any secrets to cultivating the Heavenly Poison Sutra. Could you perhaps offer some guidance?”

With everyone speaking over one another, the cacophony made Yan Yun’s head pound.

“Everyone, please don’t rush; allow me to speak,” Yan Yun announced loudly.

Yet, for some unknown reason, each of these individuals seemed overly excited, likely eager to obtain firsthand experience of success.

“Quiet down, all of you! What kind of spectacle is this?” Just as the scene grew uncontrollable, a dignified voice, accompanied by a potent aura of pressure, instantly awed everyone into silence.

The boisterous scene gradually settled into quietude.

Everyone turned to look behind them, only to see a handsome man, clad in the attire of an inner disciple, striding purposefully towards Yan Yun.

The auxiliary and outer disciples, naturally daring not to obstruct or act rashly, quickly cleared a path.

The young man approached Yan Yun, and after scrutinizing her from head to toe, his expression softened considerably.

“Junior Sister Ziyun, I am Yu Tingfeng (TL Note: Yu Tingfeng is a name composed of the surname ‘Yu’ and the given name ‘Tingfeng’, meaning ‘listening to the wind’), a disciple of Qinglan Pavilion. I possess a profound interest in the Heavenly Poison Sutra. Might I inquire if Junior Sister would be willing to offer your esteemed guidance?” the young man asked with refined grace.

Yan Yun immediately returned a bow.

“Indeed, I’ve met Senior Brother Yu. You all needn’t worry about this matter. The sect has already instructed me to assist those who wish to cultivate the poison cultivation technique to succeed, to the best of my ability. If you don’t mind, please come inside and find a spot. I will address everyone uniformly then.”

Upon hearing her words, everyone collectively breathed a sigh of relief. Their earlier excitement stemmed from the fear that Yan Yun might not impart her cultivation insights to all of them.

After all, cultivation insights were incredibly precious to cultivators.

Furthermore, in their eyes, they believed Yan Yun had no reason to help them succeed in cultivation; wouldn’t that simply create more competitors?

However, they had truly overthought the matter. Yan Yun cared not for such concerns; on the contrary, she wished for as many people as possible to cultivate the poison cultivation technique.

Thus, Yan Yun led everyone inside. It was then that she suddenly spotted two familiar figures standing at the back of the crowd, smiling as they watched her.

Those two were none other than Su Muyu and Jiang Yao.

Now that Yan Yun had become a formal disciple, they, too, needed to find a suitable opportunity to publicly acknowledge their acquaintance. This way, even if others later saw Yan Yun being close to them, no one would think much of it.

Yan Yun did not deliberately greet them, instead leading everyone directly to a designated teaching area within Purple Abyss Pavilion.

“Everyone, Purple Abyss Pavilion has just been established, and I am its sole occupant. Please forgive my inadequate hospitality. Let us proceed directly to the main business,” Yan Yun stated.

Everyone nodded, then either produced their own cushions or simply sat on the ground, awaiting Yan Yun’s instruction.

With Purple Abyss Pavilion suddenly bustling with activity, Fairy Yunshuang and the others naturally began to observe from the shadows.

“Eh? Why have Muyu and Yao’er come as well?” Fairy Yunshuang exclaimed, a hint of surprise in her voice upon seeing her two disciples.

In her estimation, there was absolutely no need for her two disciples to learn about this poison cultivation technique.

“Everyone, if you wish to successfully cultivate the poison cultivation technique, you must first possess a pain tolerance beyond that of ordinary people, meaning you need extremely tenacious willpower. Otherwise, I do not recommend cultivating it.” These were Yan Yun’s first words.

These words instantly plunged some individuals present, who had hoped to find a loophole, into deep conflict.

“Is there no way to increase the probability of success?” someone else inquired.

Yan Yun considered this.

“Indeed, there is. That would be through willpower training and pain endurance training. A person’s tolerance will increase as they continuously push their limits. Therefore, for those of you who wish to cultivate, I suggest you first dedicate some time to strengthening your willpower on your own.”

This was quite a sound piece of advice, as they had all heard that those who failed in cultivation were often the ones who fainted from the pain, leading to their ultimate failure.

While everyone’s pain tolerance differed, it was certainly possible to increase one’s resistance to pain by strengthening willpower.

“Are there, then, any other methods?” Jiang Yao, who was seated at the back, suddenly spoke.

The moment Jiang Yao spoke, she immediately drew the gaze of everyone present.

“Eh? Senior Sister Jiang, Senior Sister Su, why have those two come as well?” Some formal disciples were just about to rise and greet them.

However, Jiang Yao stopped them.
