The Yandere Predicament

Chapter 631,328 words12 min read

In the boisterous classroom, Lin Yi sat listlessly at his desk. He glanced at Li Yan and Chen Sishi’s seats. Finding them still empty, he promptly slumped back onto his desk.

Lin Yi wasn’t particularly worried about the two of them. Li Yan would at most receive a public reprimand. As for Chen Sishi, with her influential background, the school wouldn’t dare do anything significant to her.

It was her jealous outburst earlier that still left Lin Yi’s heart pounding. They weren’t even in the later stages of the plot, yet Chen Sishi was already contemplating drastic measures.

What she might do next was truly unpredictable. Realizing this, Lin Yi knew he had to make some preparations himself, if only to ensure his survival.

“I’m sorry, Lin Yi. I didn’t scare you just now, did I?”

A strand of silver hair drifted into his field of vision. Lin Yi instinctively looked up.

The girl’s delicate, pale face was like a masterpiece of art. Her slightly upturned eyes seemed capable of ensnaring one’s very soul. Her small mouth, pursed into a pout, conveyed a mixture of grievance and regret.

“No, no, not at all…”

Lin Yi swallowed hard, a wicked thought stirring within him. Any normal man, upon seeing a girl like this, would experience certain natural physiological reactions.

He was no exception. However, his rationality swiftly suppressed the illicit thought. ‘This is a yandere, for heaven’s sake!’ Lin Yi thought, ‘I’d rather live a little longer.’

If Chen Sishi ever caught wind of that fleeting stir in his heart, Lin Yi wouldn’t stand a chance. He might as well lie down and let himself be devoured.

Shaking off the bizarre thoughts swirling in his head, Lin Yi’s gaze, when it met Chen Sishi’s, was evasive. He tried to divert his attention, yet found nowhere to look.

He opened his mouth, intending to speak, but no words came out. The two remained in silence for a long moment. As the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward, Lin Yi felt compelled to initiate a conversation.

“You weren’t punished?”

“No way, they wouldn’t dare punish me.”

Chen Sishi shook her head. That Lin Yi would ask made her quite happy. It signified his concern, proving he held a place for her in his heart.

A faint blush bloomed across her pale complexion. A surge of wild emotion swiftly spread through Chen Sishi’s mind. Her rationality vanished, leaving behind only raw, primal desire.

A sickly sweet smile curled her lips once more. She advanced towards Lin Yi, step by deliberate step. Her face drew so close it was almost pressed against his.

Feeling the warm breath on his nose, the flush on the girl’s face deepened, growing more vivid. ‘She truly, truly wanted to possess Lin Yi completely,’ she thought.

Seeing Chen Sishi on the verge of another ‘episode,’ Lin Yi gave her forehead another firm tap. He had discovered this method was remarkably effective in snapping her out of her deranged state.

Clutching her head where she had been tapped, Chen Sishi’s carefully cultivated madness instantly dissipated. Still, she glared fiercely at Lin Yi, her cerulean eyes brimming with resentment. Her playfully ferocious demeanor was akin to a tiny kitten pawing for attention.

Reflecting on this, Lin Yi also clutched his own forehead. He suspected his mind was truly malfunctioning, to associate a vicious yandere with a playful kitten.

Their gazes inadvertently collided. Still feigning anger, Chen Sishi shyly turned her face away. The blush on her cheeks, however, remained vibrant.

Though her heart yearned for contact with Lin Yi, and she was, without a doubt, a deranged psychopath, she was still a girl, capable of feeling shyness and embarrassment.

All of Chen Sishi’s expressions were keenly observed by Lin Yi.

‘Gods, why is this yandere girl so utterly adorable? That’s cheating!’

Muttering to himself inwardly, Lin Yi couldn’t tear his eyes away for a long time. He felt as though Chen Sishi was stealing his very heart.

Lin Yi had always been fond of cute things. He especially adored cute girls and fluffy little animals; he simply couldn’t get enough of them.

Suddenly, a chilling realization struck him. As Lin Yi snapped back to reality, a shiver ran down his spine. Chen Sishi was a yandere, and her ultimate goal was to possess him completely, both psychologically and physically.

‘If I were to fall for her, in any sense, wouldn’t that be tantamount to being controlled by her?’ ‘To become her property entirely, mentally, and then slowly, physically.’

Once things reached that stage, Chen Sishi might very well deem him insufficiently reassuring, leading to a tragic double suicide.

He gasped, a cold breath catching in his throat. Lin Yi now felt he was but a single step away from death. The adorable girl before him instantly transformed into a sinister, terrifying presence.

The heated atmosphere between them was abruptly doused with a bucket of cold water. Lin Yi’s gaze, when it settled on Chen Sishi, was now imbued with an intense caution.

Chen Sishi, oblivious to these subtle shifts, still wore her indignant pout, resembling a puffed-up fugu.

Lin Yi awkwardly cleared his throat twice. He forcefully suppressed the lingering stirrings in his heart, then feigned a yawn, pretending to be sleepy.

“Sishi, I’m a bit tired. I’m going to rest my head for a while.”

“Alright…”

Chen Sishi didn’t overthink it. She turned, happily returning to her seat. There wasn’t a trace of anger left on her face; she was practically bursting with joy.

Having finally cajoled Chen Sishi back to her desk, Lin Yi could at last breathe a sigh of relief.

The campus was tranquil after lunch. Chen Sishi didn’t approach Lin Yi again that afternoon. She seemed to be reflecting on her actions from earlier in the day.

However, Lin Yi believed that given her personality, her ‘reflection’ would merely lead to an apology, only for her to repeat her actions next time, perhaps even more intensely.

When school finally ended, Lin Yi packed his belongings, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and walked out of the classroom. He had barely taken a few steps before two girls, one in front and one behind, cornered him.

Chen Sishi, emerging from behind, immediately latched onto Lin Yi’s arm without a word. Her shimmering silver hair swung with her movements, brushing against Lin Yi’s neck and face.

The girl’s fresh, delicate scent wafted over him. Lin Yi instinctively tried to recoil, but it was too late. Chen Sishi’s arms, like a pair of handcuffs, firmly clasped one of Lin Yi’s own.

Her body pressed even closer against Lin Yi. Lin Yi could distinctly feel the soft mounds of flesh pressing against his arm.

His heart pounded faster and faster. Lin Yi’s face flushed, and he instinctively tried to pull his arm free.

“Sishi, please be mindful.”

“Mhm, got it.”

Chen Sishi nodded obediently. Yet, a mischievous glint sparkled in her cerulean eyes.

Across from them stood Qin Ruoxue, her small fists clenched. Watching the intimate pair, an inexplicable anger flared within her.

“Chen Sishi! Try touching him again, I dare you!”

Her voice was frigid. A hint of murderous intent seemed to flicker in Qin Ruoxue’s eyes. This sent a shiver down Lin Yi’s spine; he felt as though Qin Ruoxue could transform into a yandere at any moment.

Suddenly, the air crackled with tension. Lin Yi wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, uncertain how to handle the situation unfolding before him.

“Um… I’m in a hurry. You two talk, I’m going home.”

With that, Lin Yi vanished like a gust of wind. In the blink of an eye, he was already sprinting towards the stairwell.

The two girls, still bickering, snapped back to reality and ceased their argument. Their common objective was Lin Yi, and with him gone, further squabbling was pointless.

Briefly uniting their fronts, both girls swiftly gave chase.
