Since it was the very beginning of the school year, the first day primarily revolved around managing the children’s emotions.
Simply preventing tears was considered a significant triumph.
In the little one’s classroom, two teachers were present simultaneously.
Shen Yayi raised his hand and addressed the teacher, “Teacher, I need to use the restroom.”
‘Where do intelligent, well-behaved children who don’t cry or fuss come from?’ the teacher mused, yet still offered, “I’ll accompany you, dear.”
Shen Yayi waved his hand, glancing at his classmates, whose faces were streaked with snot and tears.
“Teacher, you should really hurry and get them to quiet down.”
Having said his piece, he proceeded towards the restroom on his own.
The little girl’s eyes darted around.
‘Didn’t Big Brother just go to the restroom? Why is he going again?’
“Teacher, Xiao Yu needs to go to the restroom too!”
“Need to…”
“Xiao Yu can go to the restroom by herself, too!”
“What a wonderful little girl, Xiao Yu! Go on then, quickly!”
Their classroom was on the first floor, with the restroom located directly behind it.
The moment the little girl stepped inside, she spotted Shen Yayi outside the window, preparing to leave.
The little girl quickly called out to him in a hushed tone, “Shen Yayi, why are you outside?”
She peered at the window again; the opening wasn’t particularly wide and was somewhat high, but given their small stature, they could certainly squeeze through.
Shen Yayi spread his hands, chuckling dryly.
“Those little brats are too noisy. I initially thought I wouldn’t hear them in the restroom, but as it turns out…”
The little girl pricked up her ears, and indeed, the incessant wailing and crying filled the air.
“Don’t tell the teacher, okay? I gave you chocolate, remember?”
The boy turned and walked away after his plea.
The little girl glanced back into the classroom, then immediately struggled to climb out of the restroom window.
Stumbling with every step, she caught up to Shen Yayi.
“Big Brother, where are we going?”
Shen Yayi hadn’t heard her at first, until he turned and saw her.
‘How did this dummy follow me? What if we get caught?’
“If the teacher catches us later, don’t you dare cry and blame me.”
The little girl shook her head; she would never cry.
Thus, Shen Yayi led the little girl to the back of the teaching building, where secluded paths wound through dense foliage.
Two rows of neatly arranged bushes lined the way, and the paths branched out in all directions, seemingly without end.
The little girl pondered for a moment, realizing she had never been here before.
“Big Brother, where are we going?”
Shen Yayi simply continued walking forward.
“How should I know? The whole point of exploring is to go where you don’t know.”
‘Not knowing! This is an adventure!’
‘The protagonists on TV always go on adventures to unknown places!’
“Big Brother, hurry! Let’s go on an adventure together!”
Watching her eagerly sprint ahead, Shen Yayi looked utterly bewildered.
‘What adventure?’
As the two walked along, they eventually reached a four-story building, from which several teachers were emerging.
The moment Shen Yayi saw them, he turned to flee.
Before the little girl could even process her confusion, she was called out to by an approaching teacher.
“Children, what are you doing here?”
From a distance, Shen Yayi saw that ‘dummy’ had been caught.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, and walked out.
‘No one would have found out if we had just gone back later.’
“Oh? There’s another child. Which class are you two from?”

Inside the office, Zhou Haochen, who had only just left, was called back again.
The little girl stood with her hands clasped behind her back, head bowed.
Shen Yayi stared thoughtfully at the ceiling.
The teacher, meanwhile, was doing their utmost to suppress their emotions, maintaining a benevolent expression.
“Teacher, what exactly happened?”
The teacher, suppressing a twitch at the corner of their mouth, smiled gently.
“Little Zhou Yuying and little Shen Yayi climbed out of the restroom window, ran all over the school, even went to the teachers’ dormitory, and were discovered by other teachers.”
Shen Yayi, standing nearby, raised his hand.
“I saw her in the restroom too, and I was afraid she’d report me to the teacher, so I told her to come with me.”
Zhou Haochen shot a sidelong glance at the mischievous boy.
‘You don’t actually think you’re some kind of tough guy, do you?’
“Big Brother didn’t call me; I followed him on my own.”
Such an honest little girl.
As there were no cameras in the restroom, the teacher sternly lectured both children, and Zhou Haochen, as a parent, was included in the admonishment.
Strangely, Shen Yayi’s parent was late to arrive, and ultimately, a middle-aged man showed up instead.
“I apologize, Teacher. Yayi’s grandfather couldn’t make time, so please tell me whatever you need to.”
While the teacher spoke with the two adults, the little girl quietly crept up beside him.
“Big Brother, who is this?”
“My grandfather’s secretary.”
“What’s a secretary?”
“Someone who helps my grandfather with his work.”

“That kid is quite loyal,” Zhou Haochen recalled.
‘Even though my daughter immediately admitted it was her fault later, at least he tried to take the blame himself.’
Bai Sha was speechless.
‘What kind of trouble is this? How could they get parents called on their very first day of school?’
“How are things on your end?”
“Just the usual,” Bai Sha replied, shifting into a different lying position.
“My sister’s family and I are all here; we’ll only go back once everything is settled.”
“Well, make sure you take care of yourself over there.”
Bai Sha looked at Zhou Haochen, reminding him, “You two both have school, so go to bed early and don’t stay up too late.”
She then chatted with the father and daughter for over an hour on the phone, finally hanging up only when she needed to shower.
In the hotel bathroom, Bai Sha quickly washed up before returning to bed.
The city lights outside the window, though bright, couldn’t compare to the bustling splendor of S City.
Tossing and turning in bed, Bai Sha couldn’t fall asleep.
She picked up her phone to order takeout, checked the time, and thought, ‘Hmm, I can still watch the game, perfect to enjoy with my meal.’
While waiting for her takeout, Bai Sha seriously pondered what her sister had told her earlier today: whether she would continue working in the future, or what kind of job she would pursue.
She mumbled to herself, lying face down on the bed, ‘I can’t possibly end up as a full-time housewife, can I?’
Bai Sha thought of her familiar teammates; they were either still active players, making a fortune in East Asia, Europe, or North America, or earning money through live streaming and gaming services.
‘There really isn’t any normal reference point to look to.’
Bai Sha hadn’t delved too deeply into her existential musings, and no conclusions had been reached, but her takeout had arrived at the door.
“Takeout!”
“Coming!”
Well, since things had come to this, it was time to eat!
In this vast world, eating was paramount.
While watching the game and eating her meal, Bai Qing also video-called to report that she was safe.
“See? I told you my driving skills were perfectly fine. It was a whirlwind drive all the way here.”
“You should really take it easy, old one. I’d rather you crawl back like a turtle than speed like a whirlwind.”
Bai Qing, visible on the screen, was at home, lying on her bed.
“Mom said she wants to come up with me tomorrow. She’s swapped all her classes for the next few days.”
Bai Sha, eating her takeout, replied, “Then just bring her along. Since everyone’s here, it’ll save you the trouble of running back and forth.”
‘But doesn’t this mean the poor little darlings in that class will have to endure back-to-back lessons every day for the next few days? The thought alone is suffocating!’
“Mom said she can’t sleep at night if she doesn’t see Dad. Is that what old married couples are like? My sister and I don’t have that kind of situation with our husbands.”
Bai Sha nodded.
She and Zhou Haochen didn’t have that either.
‘Is it because they still haven’t slept together enough?’
