A Familiar Face, A Startling Confession

Chapter 66 • 1,177 words • 10 min read

“System, can you get me a girl? Preferably the super cute type, and not too tall.”

‘…’

Whenever Yue Wu posed an unrealistic question to the system, it would fall silent, its only response being the progress bar on the information interface.

“Are you Yue Wu?”

Perhaps to fulfill Yue Wu’s fantasy, a beautiful, pure-looking girl appeared within his sight.

From Yue Wu’s vantage point, he could even glimpse something rather scandalous.

“White! Do you know me?”

Yue Wu quickly sat up, clutching his nose.

“That’s wonderful! I’ve found you!”

The beautiful girl embraced Yue Wu from behind, a look of immense satisfaction gracing her features.

She had snow-white skin, long silver-white hair, and light red pupils.

Her delicate features were perfectly sculpted, giving her the innocent, pitiable look of a young girl.

Her body was slender and petite, with barely any curves.

“Who are you! Men and women should not touch! Quickly, quickly move away.”

“Xiao Qing, don’t cause trouble.”

Seeing Yue Wu engaging with another woman, a displeased Xiao Qing immediately leaped into his arms.

She then glared at the woman still clinging to Yue Wu’s back.

“Don’t you recognize me?”

The beautiful girl released Yue Wu, settling beside him and wrapping her hands around his right arm.

“I don’t know who you are, and I’ve never seen you before.”

Yue Wu observed her intently, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recall ever meeting her.

“I’m Lori~”

The beautiful girl wasn’t angry that Yue Wu didn’t recognize her; she knew she had changed significantly during that period, so she didn’t blame him.

“Lori?”

Yue Wu felt a faint flicker of recognition, yet he couldn’t recall where he had heard the name, though it sounded vaguely familiar.

“Lori, Lori von Zschütt.”

Lori looked up at Yue Wu.

“Huh!!!”

Yue Wu suddenly remembered, but the girl before him was vastly different from the little loli in his memories; he genuinely hadn’t recognized her at all.

“So, what do you think? Am I pretty?”

Lori was dressed in a blue and white Gothic Lolita dress, which made her look utterly adorable.

In truth, she would look cute in anything, for she was inherently super cute.

“If ten is a perfect score, you’re definitely an eleven!”

Yue Wu gave a thumbs-up, thoroughly admiring Lori’s attire, which made her resemble a noble young lady.

“Why an extra point?”

Lori didn’t understand why Yue Wu had given her an additional point.

“That’s because you’ve surpassed the basic level of cuteness, earning you an extra point.”

Yue Wu wished he had a phone right then to capture Lori’s image and save it as his desktop wallpaper, though he knew it was impossible.

“As a thank you, I’ll give you something.”

After speaking, Lori leaned in, her small lips lightly brushing Yue Wu’s cheek.

“Huh?”

Yue Wu was utterly bewildered. What kind of divine development was this?

It was true that since arriving in this world, Yue Wu had met many women and found many types appealing.

Yet, he had never harbored any improper thoughts.

Now, he had been kissed, and by the very first woman he had truly gotten to know here.

“That was my first kiss, you know~”

Lori happily lay on Yue Wu’s back, her arms wrapped around him.

In Lori’s heart, Yue Wu was the lover she had chosen, her most beloved person.

No one could take him from her, nor could anyone harm him.

Therefore, upon returning to the Demon Realm, she had diligently focused on increasing her strength, and her body had matured considerably—though some aspects hadn’t quite caught up.

“You must have been very lonely.”

After reading Lori’s information, Yue Wu instinctively spoke the words aloud.

“Not at all~”

Lori paused upon hearing Yue Wu’s words, then smiled and gently shook her head.

“Why are you here?”

Perhaps due to awkwardness, Yue Wu quickly changed the subject.

“Because I missed you~”

Lori uttered the words without a moment’s hesitation.

“Uh, isn’t the Demon Realm planning to invade the continent in a year? Is it really appropriate for you to be here?”

“You know!?”

Lori was startled to learn that Yue Wu was aware of the Demon Realm’s radical faction planning an attack in a year, thinking he had secretly ventured to the Demon Realm.

“Uh, I was just guessing. Was I right?”

Yue Wu quickly lied; after all, he was the only one in this world who knew the course of history a year in advance.

Lori: “You’re right. The radical faction somehow got the Supreme One’s approval, and those old fogeys are even preparing to unite with the Beast Realm and Ghost Realm—two major powers—to launch a joint attack.”

Yue Wu: “Didn’t they invite the Underworld? I don’t believe the Underworld would pass up this chance to return to the continent.”

Lori, surprised: “You know that too!?”

Yue Wu: “Just guessing, just guessing.”

Lori: “The Underworld had already reached an agreement with those old fogeys from the radical faction a long time ago. However, because most of the Beast Realm’s populace are peace-loving conservatives, it will take some time.”

Yue Wu: “What about you?”

Lori: “I won’t get involved with their radical faction’s affairs; I’m a conservative. Besides, I don’t have much affection for you humans in general—except for you, of course!”

Yue Wu: “Don’t keep leaning on me.”

Lori: “But I want to~”

Yue Wu: “Then what are you doing here?”

Lori: “I missed you, so I came to find you~”

Yue Wu: “Why?”

“Because I like you, I love you, and I want to be by your side every single second.”

Suddenly confronted by Lori’s declaration, which sounded just like a confession, Yue Wu found himself at a loss for words.

Instead, he simply lifted his head, staring blankly at the sky.

“Yue Wu, what are you looking at?”

Seeing Yue Wu gaze upwards without speaking, Lori followed his line of sight, only to find nothing but clouds in the sky.

There was nothing else of interest to be seen.

“I’m contemplating life.”

Yue Wu replied to her blankly.

“Oh~ then would you be willing to enter a lifelong partnership contract with me?”

Lori turned her head, looking at Yue Wu’s face, so close to hers, a blissful smile gracing her lips.

“The weather is truly lovely today, and it’s almost dinner time. Let’s go home, go home.”

Yue Wu didn’t know how to answer Lori, and he certainly didn’t want to hurt her, so he forcefully changed the subject.
