The Price of Flattery and a Curious Companion

“Then you’ll be eighty, no problem?” Yin said, looking at the flirtatious Flying Dragon beside them who had spoken earlier.

“Hehe, of course! With so many beautiful ladies, I’d gladly accept even sixty,” the flirtatious Flying Dragon chuckled.

“Very well then, sixty it is,” Liu Han said, a smile playing on her lips as she swiftly interjected.

The Flying Dragon’s expression stiffened. “Uh…”

“What’s wrong? Are you unwilling?” Liu Han asked, her eyes cast down as if genuinely saddened.

“No, it’s not that…” The Flying Dragon felt a bitter pang in its heart. ‘Why did I have to show off like that? Now I’ve shot myself in the foot.’

“Alright, let’s go.” Liu Han’s smile was triumphant.

Seeing her expression, the Flying Dragon’s heart grew even more miserable. ‘It was supposed to be a good way to gain favor, but I encountered *this* kind of woman…’

I settled onto the back of the “Flirtatious” Dragon. Mifeier sat nestled in my arms, while Lavishly Karafar, Liu Han, Xilinka, and Qianyue were behind us.

On the back of the “Honest” Dragon rode Yin and Ryan Micheus.

Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I would have been better off on the other side.

With a powerful beat of its forty-meter-long wings, the Flying Dragon soared into the sky.

The dragon’s scales felt cool to the touch, confirming the legends of its cold-blooded nature. Its appearance was remarkably similar to the Giant Dragons of Western myths.

‘But how would humans know the image of a dragon?’ I mused. ‘Could it simply be a coincidence?’

A thin, azure glow shimmered across the Flying Dragon’s body. The turbulent air currents that had buffeted us moments before could no longer penetrate this protective sheen.

Indeed, there was a clear reason why dragons remained such effective modes of transportation, even in a world where technology had advanced considerably.

Successive magic arrays lit up along the dragon’s body. In an instant, its speed reached an astonishing level.

I estimated that even if I unleashed my full divine power, I wouldn’t be able to match it for a single moment.

“How truly impressive,” Liu Han remarked, gazing at the scenery that blurred beyond recognition.

To be in the sky and still be unable to discern the surroundings spoke volumes about the incredible velocity.

The Wind Dragon, as expected of the most skilled fliers among its kind, not only maintained its terrifying speed but continued to accelerate.

Yet, atop the dragon’s back, we felt no discomfort whatsoever. Through the azure mist, only a gentle breeze caressed our faces, offering an indescribable sense of ease.

What felt like only a moment later, the Flying Dragon began to decelerate. Its glowing aura reversed direction, and within a few minutes, the surrounding landscape became clear once more.

Gazing downwards, a sizable city lay directly below us. Its layout resembled a Tai Chi symbol, with major roads dividing the urban area into distinct sections that formed the iconic shape.

At the very heart of the city, a colossal gate, a thousand meters tall, stood proudly. Its purple frame pulsed with eerie, flickering black light, instilling a sense of foreboding.

The Flying Dragon banked sharply, heading directly for a plaza in front of the massive purple gate. It descended gracefully, landing so softly that not a speck of dust was stirred.

After handing the Wing-Broken Coins to the two glum-faced Flying Dragons, we stood in the plaza opposite the gate.

However, this time, it wasn’t the imposing gate that captured my attention. Instead, my gaze fell upon a small, spherical white creature being sold by a street vendor.

“How adorable…” I murmured unconsciously.

The realization of what I had just blurted out instantly flushed my face crimson. ‘A grown man calling something like that cute?’

In truth, there was nothing inherently wrong with a boy finding a fluffy little sphere adorable. Yet, given my current preoccupation with whether I truly counted as a “boy,” such expressions were naturally deemed forbidden for myself.

“Little Mengmeng thinks so too?” Lavishly Karafar asked, having heard my utterance.

Indeed, everyone present had heard it; after all, they possessed the keen hearing of deities. Even Liu Han, blessed by me, had senses far sharper than an average person, so she too had clearly caught my words.

Ryan Micheus chuckled softly. “If you like it, then buy it. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

My face burned even hotter. Yet, as I gazed at the small sphere’s soft, fluffy form and its adorable little paws, I nodded, my cheeks still flushed.

‘Actually, I… I just worried that such a cute creature might be snatched away by cruel people who abuse animals…’

Ryan Micheus walked over, picked up the small sphere, and paid for it.

The little sphere, once cradled, wriggled free from Ryan Micheus’s embrace. With a few quick movements, it scrambled onto his head, settled down, and became perfectly still.

Ryan Micheus stared, utterly astonished, as the small sphere made itself at home atop his head. “This…”

We all burst into uncharitable laughter at his comical appearance.

Ryan Micheus tugged at the small sphere on his head, but it didn’t react. He could only shrug in resignation.

Suddenly, however, Ryan Micheus felt a warmth spread across his head. The small sphere then sprang down, scurried over, and nestled itself into the silent Qianyue’s arms.

Ryan Micheus looked utterly defeated, while we dissolved into uncontrollable laughter.

‘This little sphere actually knew to “punish” such a handsome man for me! Truly, this creature is teachable!’ I thought, thoroughly amused. ‘Buying this little thing was absolutely worth it.’
