Let me help you relax, shall we?

Chapter 74918 words8 min read

Dinner consisted of stewed beef with potatoes, vegetable soup, and cubed steamed buns.

The dining etiquette of the Dragon God’s homeland was that everyone sat together around the table.

Each person had their own bowl and chopsticks, and no one would mix food from the same plate.

Talking while eating was not considered polite, and Lily certainly didn’t want to share food indirectly with Letia.

It was better to have separate dishes anyway — at least she wouldn’t be teased again.

But why was Letia looking so proud?

Could it be that she made the stew herself?

Impossible. Letia could barely handle firewood. She could never make a proper beef stew.

Even if she were given a pair of skillful hands, her strange way of thinking would never produce something edible.

“Amy, does it taste good?” Letia asked cheerfully.

“It’s delicious!” Amy said happily. “Mama Letia’s food is so good!”

Amy looked about three years old, so she could already eat adult food.

Her potatoes were mashed soft, and her bowl had no pieces of beef that were hard to digest.

“Why are you so proud?” Lily said sarcastically. “Don’t tell me you made this stew?”

“Hehe, looks like you found out.”

“How could that be? Dragons aren’t supposed to lie, right?”

“Don’t underestimate me! I helped, you know?”

“Oh?” Lily raised an eyebrow. “Helped how exactly?”

Letia was speechless, because her “help” was trivial — like putting in measured salt and spices, then covering the pot.

Knowing she had no real defense, Letia stayed silent.

Lily’s smile deepened. She looked at Letia with a teasing grin.

“So it was something like lighting the fire, huh?”

“You!” Letia wanted to argue but held it back. “You don’t need to worry about the kitchen. The maids will handle it anyway.”

“Oh, so it was the maids who prepared it?”

The tension between them grew thicker.

Amy blinked her big innocent eyes, looking confused at her two mothers.

Noticing her gaze, Letia and Lily immediately stopped arguing.

They turned to each other with forced smiles that looked very unwilling.

“Mama, are you two not getting along?” Amy asked.

“How could that be? We get along very well!”

“Yes, we were just discussing the types of dishes.”

“Oh, that’s good then. Hehe…”

Amy lowered her head and continued eating.

Her mashed potatoes were soft and sweetened with a bit of sugar.

Letia and Lily both sighed in relief.

They exchanged glances and then quickly looked away.

The Palace of Eternal Harmony had many rooms, three of which were guest rooms.

That meant Lily didn’t have to share a bed with Letia.

Besides, since Amy was still new to the place, Lily said she would sleep with her daughter — a perfect excuse to avoid Letia’s advances.

Unexpectedly, Amy looked puzzled and blinked at Lily.

“Mama Lily, aren’t you two going to spend the evening together?”

“Eh?” Lily was shocked. “Where did you learn that… wait, did I teach you that?”

“Like a princess and a kind villager girl! They spend the evening together!” Amy said innocently, waving her arms.

“Mama Letia and Mama Lily should also spend time together!”

“What a clever girl!”

Letia looked pleased and turned to Lily.

“You heard her. Our daughter insists we spend time together. Don’t refuse, just sleep next to me.”

“What! Who wants to sleep next to you!” Lily blushed. “I’ll sleep with Amy! She might not sleep well in a new home.”

“I’m fine! I can sleep alone! Grandma Karina said mamas need time together and I shouldn’t disturb you!”

“Oh heavens, what kind of lessons has Mother been teaching the child!”

Seriously, who teaches a three-year-old to play matchmaker?

And Amy isn’t even three — she’s only a month old!

Where did she even learn such expressions?

Probably from those love stories I shouldn’t have let her see.

“I’m going to bed! Good night, both mamas!”

Amy bowed politely to Letia and Lily.

Before Lily could say “wait,” Amy was already running off with quick little steps.

Now only Letia’s sly smile and Lily’s nervous face remained in the room.

Lily warned, “I’m telling you, behave yourself!”

“I won’t do anything bad,” Letia replied with mock innocence. “You’re safe.”

“Remember, we’re in your family’s home. If you do anything weird and your aunt finds out, you’ll be in trouble!”

“Relax, even if someone hears something, they’ll just think you’re talking in your sleep.”

“You—!”

“Don’t be so nervous. Just sleep, okay?”

“Hmph! I’m keeping my clothes on!”

“Fine. Do as you please.”

Lily pouted and turned away, deciding not to argue anymore.

She lay down cautiously on the edge of the bed, trying to keep as much distance as possible.

Letia sighed softly, her teasing smile fading into something gentler.

She turned over and lay quietly, without saying another word.

The moonlight slipped in through the window, casting silver patterns across the floor.

Lily peeked and saw Letia already closing her eyes peacefully.

For a moment, she felt her heart calm down.

“Maybe… she really doesn’t mean anything bad,” Lily murmured softly.

She pulled up the blanket, took a deep breath, and tried to sleep.

Tomorrow, they would go to the hot springs together.

And Lily, though still blushing at the thought, finally managed to drift off into quiet dreams.
