Dressing the Fox Girl

Chapter 79 • 1,081 words • 10 min read

The process of changing her clothes went relatively smoothly. Perhaps because I had patted her head earlier, the once wary and timid fox girl Xiao Qi now obediently let me dress her.

However, from another perspective, I had to admit that Guo Hao’s idea of having her change herself was truly a terrible suggestion. The old T-shirt she had managed to put on was not only inside out but also backward.

Somewhat amused and exasperated, I pulled her close and took off the shirt she had so clumsily donned. As the collar passed over her small head, her pointed fox ears twitched slightly. She blinked her big eyes, looking at me with some confusion, then asked in a clear voice, “Awoo, I don’t understand—why is your face red, big sister?”

Her reminder made me even more embarrassed. This time, I saw her small, fair, naked body completely. Although I often saw my own body now that I had become a girl, this was the first time I had seen another’s so directly.

What made it worse was that the fox girl I was looking at showed no sign of shyness; she seemed to take it as a matter of course.

Come to think of it, it made sense. Foxes don’t wear clothes, after all…

Having no choice, I decided to be embarrassed on her behalf as well…

While I was still blushing, Yang Laoer’s voice came from outside the door, howling, “Damn, Old Fourth, what heinous, beastly act have you done to that innocent, naive little Xiao Qi? No, wait—I guess she’s already a beast, so maybe it’s worse than beastly… Damn, Guo Hao, why the hell did you hit me this time?”

I had no choice but to selectively ignore his crazy rant.

Somewhat awkwardly, I smiled at the little fox girl and explained softly, “It’s nothing. I just saw how innocent and cute you looked and got lost in thought for a moment. Here, let me help you put on some clothes.”

She nodded, half-understanding, her large fox ears trembling, which almost made me space out again.

Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I opened the bundle I had brought and took out the dresses. Smiling at Xiao Qi, I said, “Here are two choices. Which one does Xiao Qi like better?”

Xiao Qi stared with her dark, round eyes, looking back and forth between the two dresses in my hands. After deliberating for a long time, she seemed unable to decide.

“Awoo, it’s so hard to choose! Both are very pretty… awoo… I can’t decide,” she said in distress.

I smiled and said gently, “That’s fine. It’s not like you can’t have both. Since Xiao Qi likes them both, you can wear one today and the other tomorrow, right?”

“Awoo, I’ve decided! I’ll pick this one!” She made her choice with bold determination, but in reality, all she did was close her eyes and point randomly. I found it amusing and felt even more fond of this delicate, adorable, innocent little fox girl.

“So that’s the one, huh? Well, the color suits you perfectly! You have great taste, Xiao Qi!” Knowing she had chosen at random, I said this with a straight face, which piqued her curiosity. She couldn’t help but open her eyes and peek shyly at the dress she had picked. When she heard the latter half of my words, a hint of excitement and pride gleamed in her dark, bright eyes.

“But like I said, if you like both, you can wear one today and the other tomorrow,” I added with a smile.

“Awoo, I only need one. Awoo, I want to keep the other one to give to my sister when I find her… awoo… She must have never seen such beautiful clothes… awoo…” She shook her head repeatedly and answered with a serious expression.

I paused, and a warmth rose in my heart. I found this little girl more and more endearing.

After some fumbling, I helped her into the dress that had belonged to Senior Xiao Ru. Considering Xiao Ru’s figure, the sleeves and skirt were a bit loose on Xiao Qi, so I had to roll them up slightly. While adjusting the dress, I accidentally noticed that on the inside of her upper arms, on her fair, tender skin, there were countless scars crisscrossing in a chaotic pattern. Some had faded to faint marks, while others were still stark and shocking, like hideous scars writhing under her skin, lurking in the shadows of her arms.

She seemed to notice my gaze and shrank back timidly, hiding the scars.

I was about to ask her about them, but I saw the panic and fear in her eyes. My heart tightened inexplicably. Vaguely, I recalled that when I had helped her with the skirt earlier, I had also noticed similar scars on the inside of her thighs. Thinking about it, I felt a pang of sympathy and couldn’t bear to press her further. Instead, I forced a smile and said, “Little Qi, dressed like this, you are truly as pure as snow and utterly adorable—I can’t help but feel for you!”

Hearing that I wasn’t probing about the scars, she seemed to let it go. Her furry fox ears twitched excitedly, and the little girl grinned, showing her teeth. “Awoo, with big sister saying that, I’m going to be shy!”

By the time I let the three door gods outside the dormitory in, I had Xiao Qi sitting in my seat while I combed her long white hair. The sun was setting, casting overlapping shadows behind us, making the scene somewhat hazy yet radiant.

As expected, the three fellows were momentarily stunned. Especially Linghu Ruoxu, who adored petite lolis and beast-eared girls the most. He looked like his eyes were about to pop out of his head.

“Awoo, big brother, do I look good dressed like this? Big sister says it looks very pretty!” Her pointed ears twitched slightly at the sound of the door opening. Having been lost in the soothing sensation of the comb passing through her hair, Xiao Qi immediately opened her eyes and asked cheerfully in the direction of the door.

Guo Hao, the one she had addressed as her non-biological big brother, stared blankly for a while, then gave a slight sigh. Lowering his voice, he replied with a hint of dejection, “You do look good, but I’m probably not your brother, Xiao Qi…”
