“Can you drink?”
Walking through the flashy, pleasure-filled halls of Imperial Diamond Club with Xia Chen behind her, Ye Nuan asked without turning back.
She wore high heels and an off-shoulder blouse, looking every bit like a successful career woman.
“Hello, Sister Ye.”
“Hi.”
“Friend of Sister Ye?”
“New recruit.”
All sorts of people passed by Ye Nuan as they walked.
Xia Chen simply kept moving forward.
Even when people looked at him, he gave no reaction at all.
He didn’t nod politely, nor did he offer the slightest smile.
Instead, walking behind Ye Nuan, he stared thoughtfully at the firm, rounded hips swaying with each step of the young woman in front of him.
In ancient times, she definitely would’ve been selected into the palace as a favored concubine.
She looked very fertile.
“I’m talking to you.”
Not getting any response, Ye Nuan turned around.
What she saw was the seemingly harmless Xia Chen, whose strange gaze traveled upward from below before returning to her face.
Having survived long enough in this circle, even if she had never personally lived the life of accompanying guests, Ye Nuan was more than skilled at reading expressions and intentions.
After a moment’s thought, she immediately understood what he had just been looking at.
She glared at him in irritation.
“I’m talking to you.
What exactly were you looking at?”
Xia Chen calmly shifted his gaze to her face.
Mm.
Her face was nice too.
The men who sat on dragon thrones always liked women with seductive fox-like faces like hers.
“I was looking at you.”
Ye Nuan froze for a second.
Her cheeks became slightly unnatural.
In a place like this, she should’ve been able to handle words like that effortlessly.
But for some reason, under his strange gaze, she couldn’t tell whether he was teasing her or simply stating the truth literally.
“Of course I know you were looking at me.
I’m asking where you were looking!”
Ye Nuan gathered herself and puffed up her momentum.
But Xia Chen seemed completely unaffected by her sharp tone and angry little glare.
He remained perfectly calm.
“I was looking at your butt.”
…
And then he said that.
Was that even something a human would say?
No normal person could say something like that!
“Why were you looking at my butt?!”
Ye Nuan had never expected this boy to admit it so honestly.
What kind of person had she picked up?
Other people found treasure.
She felt like she’d picked up a ghost.
Xia Chen shrugged, a rare display of body language from him.
“Nothing.
I just thought you look easy to bear children.
Your future mother-in-law will definitely like you.”
…
Ye Nuan decided not to care about this boy’s gaze anymore.
If they weren’t desperately short on staff right now, she honestly wasn’t sure whether she’d be calling the police.
“Alright, I’ll give you some basic training first.
Same question as before—can you drink?”
They entered the lounge.
Inside were several handsome young men, all different styles, who looked curiously at Ye Nuan bringing this teenager in.
Ye Nuan had no intention of introducing him.
And Xia Chen had even less interest in meeting any of them.
He simply stood there lazily.
“I’m alright, I guess.”
Ye Nuan frowned beautifully.
“What do you mean, ‘alright’?
How many bottles roughly?
If you’re working here, you need to know your limits.
Otherwise, if you run into someone who gets nasty when drunk, there could be trouble.”
“Oh.”
Xia Chen thought for a moment.
“I’ve got a friend from the grasslands.
Last time his whole family invited me to drink.
Something called Mengdao Donkey, I think.
We drank straight from the bottles.”
“And then?”
Ye Nuan hadn’t heard of it before and became curious.
Xia Chen thought for a second, then said calmly,
“They said they’d stay up with me to watch the sunrise.
In the end, not a single one of them woke up.
I even had to cover them with blankets.
So… around that level, I guess.
Should be good enough.”
