That night.
The employee dormitory quieted down, leaving only the occasional chirping of insects outside the window.
Su Dai Dai lay in bed but couldn’t sleep. She opened her eyes and stared at the blurry darkness on the ceiling.
Lately, she had made it a habit to touch the bag of candy, her gift, through her canvas bag before sleep.
Only after confirming it was still safe could Su Dai Dai fall asleep peacefully.
As usual, she reached into the canvas bag beside her bed to feel for it.
But this time, her fingertips only touched her daily cosmetics.
Su Dai Dai’s fumbling stopped. She tried again, taking out all the other items, only to find it still empty.
“It’s gone?”
Su Dai Dai sat up abruptly, panting heavily. She reached out and turned on the small, dim lamp by her bed.
She knelt on the floor like a madwoman, thoroughly searching every corner under the bed.
“Still not here.”
“There’s nothing.”
The bag of candy, her gift, the proof of her victory, had vanished into thin air.
“Who took it?”
This thought exploded in Su Dai Dai’s mind.
Was it the double-ponytail girl from that day? Did she secretly take it when she wasn’t paying attention? A burning rage surged in Su Dai Dai’s heart.
“Or perhaps…”
An even more terrifying thought made the blood in Su Dai Dai’s entire body almost freeze.
“Could it be that A’Yuan took it back himself?”
“Does A’Yuan think he gave it to the wrong person?”
“Is he… going to give this bag of candy to another girl?”
This thought was like a sharp knife stabbing viciously into Su Dai Dai’s heart, then twisting frantically.
“Heh… heh…”
Su Dai Dai sat on the edge of the bed, her breathing becoming extremely difficult due to the pain, her muscles tensed up.
The unresolved anxiety and anger blocked her chest, burning her eye sockets so hot that not a single tear could fall.
Gradually, Su Dai Dai felt her palms, especially her right palm, begin to itch.
This was not an ordinary itch, but a maddening sensation that drilled out from deep within her flesh, as if something was about to break through the skin from her palm.
She scratched forcefully, her nails drawing red marks on her palm, but the itching only grew stronger.
“Mine… that’s mine…”
Su Dai Dai whispered her pain, her voice hoarse, filled with unwillingness and venom.
“The gift A’Yuan gave me is mine, and he himself is also mine!”
Just then, the itching in her palms reached its peak, and an indescribably strong impulse took control of her.
There was no sound, no light. A bizarre scene occurred.
In the center of the girl’s fair palm, a pure black dot that reflected no light appeared.
This black dot rapidly expanded, forming a palm-sized, ink-black void.
The void was right in Su Dai Dai’s palm, slowly and silently rotating. The surrounding space seemed to be sucked into it, even the light distorting as it hit the edge.
Su Dai Dai looked at this terrifying yet mesmerizing darkness in her palm.
The frantic emotions that were about to tear her apart miraculously subsided a lot when she saw this void.
Faced with this magical scene, Su Dai Dai stared at her pillow and subconsciously made a grabbing motion.
An extremely faint sound of spatial vibration was heard.
The pillow suddenly flew up from the bed and was silently swallowed by the black void in her palm.
The whole process was extremely fast and extremely quiet. Even her roommate was not woken up.
“The pillow, just disappeared like that?”
Su Dai Dai stared blankly at her hand. With a thought, the black hole slowly shrank and finally disappeared.
Her palm returned to normal, as if nothing had ever happened.
She tried to open her hand again, and the black void reappeared.
“Is this my ability?”
Su Dai Dai looked at her two hands that could devour everything, a fascinated and strange smile slowly appearing on her face.
“With this…”
“Can I… hide A’Yuan away?”
This thought echoed in her mind. Su Dai Dai’s lips were tightly closed as she stared at her palm, for who knows how long.
A few minutes later, she snapped back to her senses and slapped her forehead hard.
“What am I thinking…”
“How could I think of such a thing, depriving A’Yuan of his personal freedom? He would definitely hate me for it.”
Su Dai Dai frowned, her eyes a little dazed.
She recalled the strange thoughts that had been appearing in her mind recently.
For example, hating it when Yang Yuan talked to others, and even imagining making him cut off all social contact with others and only play with her.
“Calm down, calm down…”
“Maybe it’s because of the awakening’s influence… it must be just a side effect of the ability.”
Su Dai Dai silently closed her hands, pulled up the quilt, and buried herself in the covers.
“It must be like this. I can’t do anything that would make A’Yuan disappointed in me.”
And so, Su Dai Dai, while constantly murmuring about Yang Yuan, unknowingly fell asleep.
“Achoo… achoo.”
In the men’s dormitory next door, Yang Yuan was just about to fall asleep.
“Why am I suddenly sneezing? Is someone talking bad about me behind my back?”
Yang Yuan was completely unaware that a certain girl’s heart was in such turmoil over him that she almost couldn’t sleep.
The next morning, Su Dai Dai went straight to the break room as soon as she woke up to look for the bag of candy.
“So it’s here. That really scared me.”
Finding the lost bag of candy made Su Dai Dai sigh in relief.
After finding it, she lay on the table, her face buried in her arms, motionless.
The double fatigue, both mental and physical, left Su Dai Dai in an extremely poor state.
Yang Yuan, who had come here with breakfast, consciously sat down beside her and immediately noticed something was wrong.
“Is her period here? But I don’t remember it being time.”
The sight of the girl curled up on the table made Yang Yuan’s brow furrow unconsciously.
In the past, whenever Su Dai Dai was sick, she would always be like this, not making a sound, preferring to endure it alone.
He put down the breakfast in his hands and leaned closer to Su Dai Dai, wanting to see what was wrong with this little one.
“What’s wrong with you?”
The breath tickled her ear, and Su Dai Dai’s dazed consciousness cleared a little.
She slowly raised her head, revealing a pale face with two faint dark circles under her eyes.
“A’Yuan is here.”
Only when Su Dai Dai saw that it was Yang Yuan did a little light appear in her eyes.
“I’m fine, just… very sleepy, want to sleep.”
But her weak and listless appearance made Yang Yuan even more worried.
He felt that she was definitely just putting on a brave face, and she might already be very sick.
Anxious, Yang Yuan didn’t care about much else and directly reached out to cup Su Dai Dai’s cheeks.
Before Su Dai Dai could react, Yang Yuan had already lowered his head and gently pressed his forehead against hers.
This sudden action made Su Dai Dai freeze completely.
She could clearly feel the temperature from Yang Yuan’s forehead, which was a little higher than hers.
“Too close! A’Yuan is too bold!”
“But… so happy.”
Su Dai Dai’s heart began to pound wildly. A warm current surged from her chest and instantly spread throughout her body, as if sweeping away all her fatigue and irritability.
The temperature of her cheeks rose rapidly. Su Dai Dai knew she must be completely red now.
“Is A’Yuan… worried about me?”
This realization made Su Dai Dai so excited she was about to faint. A huge sense of happiness enveloped her, leaving only endless joy in her mind.
“It does feel a little hot. Could it be a fever?”
“No, why is your face suddenly so red?”
Just as Yang Yuan was about to withdraw his hands, a sudden change occurred.
Due to Su Dai Dai’s extreme emotional excitement, the ability she had just awakened last night instantly went out of control.
In the palm of her right hand, which was behind her back, a black hole appeared without warning and rapidly expanded uncontrollably.
Su Dai Dai herself hadn’t even noticed.
The rotating black hole silently touched the chair she was currently sitting on.
No sound, no warning.
The entire chair was completely devoured by the black hole in an instant, disappearing from this world without a trace.
“Huh? Why does it feel empty under my butt?”
Su Dai Dai’s body lost its support and suddenly sank.
“Ah!”
She let out a short cry as her butt landed squarely on the floor.
Yang Yuan witnessed this scene with his own eyes.
One second, Su Dai Dai was sitting properly on the chair, and the next, the chair vanished into thin air, and she fell directly to the floor.
Such a magical scene left him completely dumbfounded.
Yang Yuan’s brain shut down for a good few seconds before he reacted, hurriedly reaching out to help Su Dai Dai up.
“Are… are you okay? How did the chair suddenly disappear?”
He pulled Su Dai Dai up while looking at the empty floor under her in disbelief.
The wooden floor was smooth and flat, with no holes, but the chair was as if it had never existed.
“What’s this on your hand?”
Just then, Yang Yuan noticed Su Dai Dai’s right palm was open, and in the center of her palm, a dark vortex had appeared. Staring at it for too long made one’s scalp tingle.
Su Dai Dai followed his gaze and looked down, only then realizing that she had actually activated her ability.
“Don’t look, this is just… a new toy I bought.”
“This doesn’t look like a toy at all!”
Su Dai Dai immediately hid her hand behind her back, afraid that Yang Yuan would stay away from her because of her terrifying ability.
Yang Yuan hesitated for two seconds, then suddenly spoke, word by word.
“Did you… awaken an ability?”
