This was it; I was doomed. All I wanted was to find a beautiful young woman in the mortal realm, someone who would stir my heart, to amuse myself with. Yet here I was, utterly immobilized by her, unable to move a muscle.
The little female ghost was now writhing with regret, her insides churning. She, who had originally intended to bully a naive, sweet young girl, had unexpectedly kicked a steel plate instead.
“Tell me, why did you try to harm me?”
Bai Wanwan casually pulled over a chair and sat down, her expression solemn as she gazed at the female ghost in the red wedding dress before her.
“I… I wasn’t trying to harm you.”
Completely intimidated by Bai Wanwan, the female ghost’s words came out jumbled and incoherent, her tongue tripping over itself multiple times in a single sentence. Coupled with her pitifully helpless expression, one had to admit, she was quite endearing. No wonder Ning Caichen couldn’t resist. A little female ghost like this, clad in a red wedding dress that was torn to reveal her thighs, presented a captivating contrast of conservatism and daring provocation, not unlike alluring lingerie. It was, indeed, incredibly eye-catching.
Though Bai Wanwan strove to maintain a serious demeanor, her eyes involuntarily darted towards the female ghost’s dazzlingly pale thighs.
The little female ghost seemed to notice Bai Wanwan’s gaze, instinctively clamping her thighs together slightly.
“Ahem, what’s your name?”
Bai Wanwan cleared her throat, changing the subject with a different question.
“Liu… Liu Ruyan.”
“I asked for your *true* name.”
Bai Wanwan’s gaze was piercing, and a single look from her completely intimidated the little female ghost.
“Liu… Liu Hanzhi.”
“There we go. Liu Hanzhi is Liu Hanzhi, so why did you foolishly change your name to Liu Ruyan?”
Bai Wanwan observed Liu Hanzhi’s long, silky, ink-black hair cascading downwards. Although it wasn’t red, she could still recognize the female ghost from her voice and delicate features; this was the red-haired sister she had connected with during the livestream.
“No wonder I thought your complexion looked like someone who’d been dead for several decades. I’d assumed it was just the makeup and the beauty filters from the livestream…”
“Who would’ve thought you were actually a ghost.”
Bai Wanwan looked at Liu Hanzhi before her, wringing her hands and beating her chest as she spoke, feigning immense distress. Her anguish, however, wasn’t due to failing to recognize Liu Hanzhi’s true identity during the livestream; rather, it stemmed from the realization that her five hundred yuan service fee was now a lost cause, like a duck that had flown away right as it reached her mouth. That was what truly pained her.
From the outset, Liu Hanzhi had never intended to pay her the five hundred yuan service fee. That paper effigy… if Bai Wanwan had simply burned it, she would have fallen straight into the little female ghost’s trap. Had she been an ordinary person, she would have long since been taken by the little female ghost, dragged to the Underworld to become her wife. Who would still be thinking about five hundred yuan then? With her very person belonging to the little female ghost, what five hundred yuan would there even be to discuss!
Fortunately, Bai Wanwan was a cut above, and her talismans had averted the danger in the nick of time. But why did this little female ghost look as if she were about to burst into tears? Were her talismans really that terrifying? It was merely a Binding Immortal Charm, after all. What was there to make such a fuss about?
On the contrary, *she* was the one who had lost her impending five hundred yuan, having fallen for a mere pipe dream drawn up by a female ghost. Didn’t that make Bai Wanwan the one who truly deserved to cry? Tomorrow, she would be hungry again… *Waaah.*
“Actually… actually, I…”
Waaah… *sniffle*… WAH!!!
Just as Liu Hanzhi was about to play for sympathy and win Bai Wanwan’s pity… to her utter astonishment, before she could even squeeze out a single tear from the corner of her eye, Bai Wanwan had already burst into tears herself.
This completely threw Liu Hanzhi off. The entire ghost froze in place. She stared, utterly bewildered, at Bai Wanwan, who was weeping uncontrollably, her face streaked with tears like pear blossoms in the rain, looking utterly wronged.
Liu Hanzhi had, after all, been a ghost for over a decade and had encountered numerous humans. Yet, a troublesome one like Bai Wanwan was truly the first of her kind…
What was she supposed to do in this situation? Did she have to comfort her first?
