Chapter 86: Mollru Goes to High School

The news that streamer Mollu had joined the Flare crew spread quickly.

The entire crew was made up of VTubers.

Technically, Mollu wasn’t a purebred VTuber, yet she had become part of that group.

Some people reacted with surprise, while others thought it made sense.

Regardless of the reactions from people, the future actions of the Flare crew, who had recruited such a monstrous rookie like Mollu, had drawn a lot of attention.

“Flare Crew’s large-scale joint broadcast! And the mystery is…!”

It was Rita’s broadcast, the leader of the crew.

She had been raising excitement for the content, which was set to feature all crew members.

Today marked the start of that content.

“Drumroll….”

Rita made noise with her mouth and excitedly tapped on the desk.

[Hurry up TT]

[We’re going to grow old waiting]

[Where did the broadcaster go?~]

Just as the viewers were getting frustrated from waiting, Rita spoke.

“It’s Minecraft Flare server opening~ Woohoo!”

Minecraft.

Some might call it a children’s game, something only kids enjoy, but that’s not true.

Yes, the game made of blocks may appear cute and peaceful.

But that’s just because the game is intuitive and easy to get into, which makes it seem that way.

The world of Minecraft is endless.

You can build your own structures, fight bosses, explore vast maps, and much more.

There’s an abundance of things to do if you look carefully.

It’s truly a feast of content.

Minecraft, a national game that was released years ago, is known by almost everyone, and broadcasters who recognized its value have already uploaded countless videos on YouTube, exploiting it for all its worth.

“The village we’ll be living in will be Flare Village.”

The reason Rita chose Minecraft was for a similar reason.

Though it wasn’t a guaranteed success, at least it promised a solid outcome.

In the VTuber world, there’s a saying “rotating door.”

It’s an expression for when viewers only watch VTubers from a specific agency or group.

Flare crew holds about a third of the VTuber pie.

The viewership of its members is spread across a wide range, with Rita, the leader, having thousands of viewers leading the charge.

As a crew, they often collaborate on broadcasts and share exchanges.

Naturally, the viewer base also crosses over.

When A’s broadcast ends, viewers go to B’s, and when B ends, they go to C’s, and so on.

Because of this, people who watch Flare’s broadcasts regularly are very familiar with the chemistry between crew members and enjoy it.

This is why a Minecraft joint broadcast, even if it’s not a success, won’t be a failure.

While there may be preferences among viewers for certain crew members, no one is excluded.

In fact, people enjoy seeing them gather.

Just by joining together to build things or explore the in-game world, viewers feel satisfied.

Additionally,

“Will Mollu participate? Of course.”

It was also something Rita had considered, that the new member Mollu would blend in well for a joint broadcast.

“She’s our new crew member, of course, she can’t miss out on such a group broadcast.”

(CEO behavior)

(Ah, lol, is it really expected for a new recruit to miss a gathering?)

(Our company’s new recruits miss even the welcome parties)

(It’s the current trend~)

(MZ vibes)

At this point, Mollu hadn’t greeted anyone other than Rita yet.

Rita remembered the face of Mollu from the day before.

It was such a different face from what she had imagined.

She had considered inviting her to a group chat in advance but felt it might be too soon, so she discarded the idea.

After all, as they did the joint broadcast, they’d eventually get comfortable with each other.

There’s nothing more effective than playing a game together to break the ice.

That’s what Rita thought.

“The server will open tomorrow evening! Please look forward to it.”

Rita finished her promotion smoothly.

The situation was progressing well, and she was satisfied.

[Check tomorrow evening]

[Tomorrow evening…?]

[Mollu is supposed to have a day off tomorrow]

[20?]

[I just checked, it really is a day off]

“A new recruit missing the first day of a joint broadcast?”

[This is so MZ]

[We need to get some discipline]

“Uh… I heard Mollu won’t be here tomorrow?”

Mollu wasn’t the main participant, but she still held a significant role in the content.

But Mollu not being there…

Though the Flare server would be open for about a week, and she could join later, it was still a bit disappointing.

It was Rita’s fault for not informing everyone about the date in advance.

“Well, it can’t be helped.”

Rita thought to herself that nothing in life is easy.

  • “Come to the main building, it’s next to the 3rd floor science room… No, wait, I’ll meet you at the front.”

“Mm.”

It was bright daylight. Even earlier in the morning.

At 10 AM, I stood in front of a high school, feeling the cold winter wind.

Needless to say, it was my younger sister Jiyeon’s school.

“This school looks nice…”

It was a large school with a main building and annex, and not a single worn-out or shabby part could be seen on the outer walls.

The sports field was covered in artificial turf, and the nearby washbasins looked exceptionally clean.

It appeared to be a private school, perhaps a little more expensive than others.

So why, you ask, was I suddenly at Jiyeon’s school?

Because I had received an invitation from her.

  • “Unni, the school festival is the day after tomorrow. Will you come?”

She wasn’t asking out of politeness; she genuinely wanted me to come.

From some point on, my days off had become filled with promises and plans with others.

Now, I even adjust my days off to match their schedules.

I had always wanted to visit Jiyeon’s school at least once.

I may sound like an old-timer, but I was curious about how much things had changed since my time.

Teachers were supervising various booths set up around the outdoor areas.

It had a bit of a university vibe, but in some ways, it still felt very much like high school.

It felt like a mix between youthful energy and adulthood.

I heard Jiyeon’s class was running a café.

A friend of hers, whose parents owned a café, would be in charge of the kitchen, and Jiyeon was working the counter.

As I waited for Jiyeon and looked around,

“Hey, why are you wearing civilian clothes?”

A woman with a sharp look approached me and said that.

She seemed like a teacher by her demeanor and tone.

Did she mistake me for a student?

“Um, that’s not it.”

“Even though it’s a festival day, students should be in uniform. Which class are you in?”

Her voice grew louder, and I could feel the eyes of others on me.

Who’s that? I’ve never seen her before. She’s pretty. Was there such a student?

Whispers surrounded me as I tried to explain to the teacher with a sharp gaze.

“Wait a minute!”

“Are you… Jiyeon’s older sister?”

A cute Jiyeon, wearing a baker’s hat and a brown apron, came over and started talking to the teacher.

She must have just finished working.

With a few waves of her arm, Jiyeon clarified the situation, and the teacher, looking apologetic, said to me,

“Ah, you’re Jiyeon’s sister. You two really look alike; both of you are beautiful. I’m sorry, I completely forgot that outsiders were coming today.”

“It’s alright.”

Now that I think about it, Jiyeon is still in her early twenties.

It’s only been about three years since she graduated from high school.

And since kids grow up so quickly these days, with Jiyeon’s looks, it’s understandable that I could have been mistaken for a student.

“Did I keep you waiting? There was a sudden rush of people.”

“No, not for long.”

Jiyeon led me to her class with quick steps.

It seemed like she was quite popular at school, as she received greetings from students every time we passed by.

“Jiyeon Unnie~.”

“Hi.”

“And this is your older sister?”

“Yep.”

“She’s so pretty.”

What was interesting was that, during every greeting, I was mentioned at least once.

Did news of me spread through the school? Most students who greeted Jiyeon seemed to know I was her older sister.

“Unnie, hello!”

“Yes, hello.”

There was even an energetic girl who greeted me as Jiyeon’s close friend.

It seemed like my sister was quite the social butterfly.

I couldn’t help but feel a bit like a celebrity myself as I stood next to her.

Finally, we arrived at the classroom, where the desks were arranged around and covered with beautiful tablecloths to create a café atmosphere.

It looked well-decorated.

As someone who didn’t have any notable school memories, it was quite a pleasant sight.

“Sit for a moment. I’ll make you a drink.”

Jiyeon guided me to a seat in the corner before heading to the kitchen.

The kitchen was cleverly separated from the hall, but still visible, giving off a distinct “kitchen” vibe.

A girl working in the kitchen glanced at me before immediately starting to prepare something.

Her movements were precise, and it was clear she had done this before.

“Excuse me, are you Jiyeon’s older sister?”

“Yes? What about it?”

“Wow, really? You’re Jiyeon’s older sister?”

As I sat quietly waiting for my drink and looking at the classroom decoration, I made eye contact with a group of girls.

In an instant, they approached me with sparkling eyes.

“What tint do you use?”

“Wow, look at her skin.”

“She’s so pretty. How do you take care of your skin?”

It didn’t take long for me to realize Jiyeon was the quiet one among us.

The conversation among current high school girls was dizzying.

I responded vaguely, feeling a bit drained by the energy.
