The Saintess’s Request and a Sister’s Dark Embrace

Chapter 91,226 words11 min read

Mylian chose silence, burying her thoughts deep within.

Stella had no choice but to abandon her futile speculations. She felt certain she would be interrogated tonight and needed to prepare multiple layers of protection for Della’s identity.

With the topic of Della concluded, and after a brief exchange, Eveming revealed the true purpose of her visit to the Candace family.

The Candace family possessed a vast collection of precious magical artifacts. This time, the Saintess, representing the Holy Kingdom of Sochi, had come to borrow several barrier-type magical treasures to resist a century-rare large-scale invasion of demonic beasts along the border.

“Miss Stella, please, on behalf of the Candace family, lend me a few magical treasures. I will sign a corresponding contract for the rent and materials. I implore you.”

Eveming’s gaze was earnest, while Stella thoughtfully stroked her cheek.

According to the actual storyline, the demonic beast invasion would occur earlier than the Holy Kingdom’s prophecy. Two distinct paths would emerge at that time.

If the Saintess acquired the magical treasures, she would live. If not, she would perish alongside the Holy Kingdom of Sochi. This indirectly determined whether Mylian would succumb to darkness, as the crucial decision of lending the magical treasures rested entirely in Stella’s hands.

Furthermore, building a good relationship with the Saintess would provide an escape route should unforeseen circumstances arise in the future.

Stella, quite obviously, chose the path most beneficial to herself. After all, it was only a matter of time before Mylian would befriend Eveming.

“I personally agree to lend them, but I must consult my father and mother. They will be back in a few days, so Miss Eveming is welcome to stay longer.”

“Stay longer, huh…”

Eveming’s gaze drifted towards the fireplace, her lips pursed, an expression of serious contemplation on her face.

This is wonderful! Finally, a reason to ask Grandfather Pope for a few more days outside. I’ve listened to so many holy sermons my ears are practically calloused.

In reality, the little figure in Eveming’s inner world was dancing with joy, a stark contrast to the serious Saintess she presented outwardly.

Stella, assuming Eveming’s long silence indicated misgivings, offered another suggestion.

“If Miss Eveming finds it truly difficult, and the matter is urgent, I can lend them to you first. You can return as soon as possible.”

“Oh, no, no, I’m not that rushed. The prophesied demonic beast invasion is still several years away. I’ll stay here for now.”

Eveming quickly made her stance clear. She desperately wanted to enjoy a few more days outside and couldn’t possibly waste the opportunity Stella had provided.

“Alright then.”

Stella nodded in agreement, bringing their conversation to a close.

“Since you two have finished your discussion, there’s no need for me to remain.”

Mylian rose, intending to leave, which was much earlier than their agreed meeting time. Stella quickly stood to block her.

“Sister, please stay for lunch. It’s already noon.”

Stella spread her arms, blocking the door. Being slightly shorter than Mylian, she lacked much deterrent power, especially during this particular period with her parents returning soon.

Hmph, what a show of concern, acting like a good younger sister. Once your parents leave, won’t you reveal your true colors to me?

Mylian narrowed her eyes, intending to ‘play along’ with her theatrical younger sister for a bit. This was one of the rare moments for revenge.

“You’re right, I should stay for lunch.”

“Then I’ll go prepare it. Don’t leave.”

Stella was about to turn and instruct the servants, but Mylian reached out first, and a chilling sensation appeared on Stella’s cheek.

“Eh…” Stella froze. Her sister’s right hand was gently stroking her left cheek.

She, she, she… what is she doing touching my face?!

Stella observed Mylian’s expression. Aside from a playful smile, her violet eyes were chilling, like piercing needles.

“Little sister, what delicious things are you preparing?”

Mylian’s words carried a hidden meaning, and her hand remained, as if challenging Stella’s dignity.

“Whatever Sister wishes to eat, Stella will instruct someone to make it.”

Stella didn’t perceive the provocation. She only wanted to quickly satisfy her sister’s request, believing Mylian’s aggressive behavior meant she had discovered something and had strong backing.

Hmph, quite resilient, aren’t you? What if I go a little further?

Mylian noticed Stella wasn’t flying into a rage, so she decided to provoke her with even more intense words.

Whoosh!

Stella felt a gust of wind against her face. Her sister’s face was suddenly inches away, her lips slightly parted.

“It’s you I want to eat. And you’ll be willing.”

Mylian’s low voice pierced through Stella’s mind, causing her brain to momentarily freeze.

Sister has… progressed to wanting to eat me?

Stella instantly panicked. She recalled a certain slightly longer-lived bad ending, named ‘Kin-Eating.’

In the ‘Kin-Eating’ storyline, Mylian lost the Saintess, continued to suffer, and was unexpectedly transformed into a Bloodkin. Later, as the leader of the Bloodkin, she overthrew the human empire, eventually capturing Stella alive and raising her as a living food source.

The ‘eating’ in the ‘Kin-Eating’ storyline referred to Mylian devouring Stella bit by bit. It was a very dark ending where Stella could only watch herself being consumed, paralyzed by Mylian’s bodily fluids, until her soul vanished.

This was no longer an ordinary sister; this was a sister who would eat people in the future.

The more Stella thought, the more terrified she became. She painstakingly lifted her head, looking at Mylian before her.

Eyes are the windows to the soul. As Mylian witnessed the clear blue depths of Stella’s eyes, she felt a trace of bewilderment.

She’s scared.

Scared of me?

Why?

Mylian had never seen Stella’s eyes so pure, trembling with fear, much like a threatened little girl.

The taunting lines she had prepared in her mind were disrupted. Mylian hesitated, feeling a flicker of pity for her sister, wanting to let her off the hook.

“Sister, please don’t eat me. I’ll listen to anything else you say.”

Stella’s words lacked conviction, yet her eyes remained fixed, maintaining the posture of a weaker individual pleading with a superior.

How can she show such an expression? Get angry! Throw a tantrum like you usually do!

Mylian couldn’t bear Stella’s soft reaction. While battling fiercely within herself, she stepped back, away from Stella.

“Suit yourself.”

“Alright… alright, Sister.”

Stella quickly fled the study, not daring to look back. She only wanted to find a quiet place to reflect on where her self-rescue plan had gone wrong.

Mylian, left alone in the study, was somewhat lost in thought. She plopped back onto the sofa, Stella’s reaction replaying repeatedly in her mind.

If all of that was an act, then she’s truly formidable, her methods terrifyingly clever.

Mylian clutched the fabric over her chest, making a firm resolution. She could not possibly forgive Stella’s actions! Otherwise, what would be the point of all these years of enduring humiliation?

The Saintess Eveming observed the entire interaction between the sisters from the side. She felt utterly astonished and a little shy. Mylian and Stella, it seemed, had a relationship of a domineering older sister and a delicate younger sister.

She was definitely staying at Candace Manor; she absolutely had to observe these sisters closely.

Eveming secretly made up her mind, feeling an inexplicable surge of excitement.
