The Unexpected Role Reversal

Next, Father and Mother Chen went upstairs to change their clothes, while Chen Xuanqiu and his sister naturally headed to the kitchen to have dinner.

Once again, seeing his adopted sister, Chen Xuanqiu couldn’t help but remember how in the illusion, she had chased after a little boy for his sake. A sense of closeness quietly emerged, and perhaps that’s why this meal felt more natural to him than breakfast.

Chen Xuanzhu, however, was quite the opposite, looking preoccupied and not even bothering to pick up any dishes.

Not long after, Father and Mother Chen, dressed in their finest, left.

“After dinner, come to my room. I have something to discuss with you.”

Chen Xuanzhu, who had barely eaten, immediately stood up and left the table.

“Discuss something with me?” Chen Xuanqiu asked, his reaction delayed because his sister’s tone was so casual, she didn’t even bother to call him ‘brother.’ If it weren’t for the fact that only he was present at the table, he would have thought she was talking to someone else.

“Miss, is the food not to your liking?” Li Auntie asked anxiously.

“No, I’ve been dieting recently.” Chen Xuanzhu left the kitchen without looking back.

“You’re already quite slim; you don’t need to diet. Be careful, or you might strain your health.” Li Auntie advised kindly.

Mandated by his sister, Chen Xuanqiu hurriedly finished his meal and went upstairs.

Chen Xuanqiu was unfamiliar with the house, so he decided to search room by room for his sister’s bedroom. He peeked into each one cautiously and soon identified the target: the room at the far right of the second floor. Although he couldn’t see anyone, the door was wide open, and the room had a pink, feminine ambiance.

Chen Xuanqiu stretched his neck to look inside and indeed saw his adopted sister sitting on a grand, pink bed, flipping through a book. Her school skirt revealed a pair of dazzlingly white, long legs crossed elegantly, giving her an air of regal grace.

“What do you need?” Chen Xuanqiu hesitantly walked in, immediately enveloped in a captivating fragrance that made even his breathing feel pleasurable.

Chen Xuanzhu didn’t reply; she simply stood up, closed the bedroom door, and then unbuttoned her school skirt, letting it fall to the floor.

“Whoa!” Chen Xuanqiu was flustered by his sister’s bold move, quickly averting his gaze and reminding himself to ‘look not upon what is not rightfully mine.’

“Hum, I thought you were more of a wooden log. I’ve never seen you be so proactive before.” Chen Xuanzhu teased with a mischievous smile, placing her skirt on the bed.

Chen Xuanqiu’s cheeks flushed red, unable to muster the courage to refute her. Though he tried to be a good brother, he still needed time, and this test was a bit too harsh for him.

“Enough with the act. Give me your pants, and you wear the skirt.” Chen Xuanzhu said impatiently.

“What?” Chen Xuanqiu was stunned again, turning around to confirm, all thoughts of propriety forgotten.

“Didn’t you hear me? Are you deaf?”

Chen Xuanzhu wrinkled her brows slightly.

“I… I have to wear the skirt? Okay, but you have to give me a reason.” Chen Xuanqiu, pressured by his sister’s commanding presence, stammered slightly, though he managed to hold his ground.

“Hum, didn’t expect you to question why. You’re usually just a pushover.” Chen Xuanzhu looked at her brother in surprise. Seeing he wasn’t backing down, she reluctantly explained, “The reason is that I need to go to a birthday party tonight, so I need you to pretend to be me and stay home.”

“But… but what about Dad and Mom? They said you couldn’t go.” Chen Xuanqiu regained some composure and reluctantly faced his sister.

“They say I can’t go, so I won’t? Do you know how important Mr. Pai is to our family’s business? Unlike you, as a girl, I have to be the face of the company. I can’t always hide behind our parents. Do you understand?”

Chen Xuanzhu explained earnestly.

Chen Xuanqiu was deeply moved. He hadn’t realized his sister had such a high level of awareness, unlike himself, who was still so naive.

“If I can never return, I am still a part of this family. If my sister has such awareness, how can I hide behind her?”

Chen Xuanqiu had an epiphany, a daring thought crossing his mind.

“Alright, I’ve given you the reason. Hurry up and give me your pants.” Chen Xuanzhu urged impatiently. Standing in just her underwear, even she felt a bit embarrassed.

“I understand, but could you turn around?”

Chen Xuanqiu hesitated.

“Pfft, is there any part of you I haven’t seen? You’re so affected, no wonder you’re always getting picked on. You have no manly spirit.” Chen Xuanzhu rolled her eyes but complied.

Chen Xuanqiu felt a pang of embarrassment, thinking his attempt at being a gentleman was misunderstood.

Knowing he couldn’t explain, Chen Xuanqiu didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he quickly removed his school pants and placed them on the bed, then nervously reached for his sister’s skirt, feeling its warmth and her lingering body heat.

Chen Xuanzhu, not hearing any movement, asked impatiently, “Are you done yet?”

“I am Chen Xuanqiu, I am Chen Xuanqiu.” Chen Xuanqiu’s mind raced, and he quickly slipped on the skirt, pulling it up to his waist.

Chen Xuanqiu had never worn a skirt before, but having seen his sister take hers off, he managed to put it on.

After fastening the button, Chen Xuanqiu surprisingly found the skirt suited him well, though his bare legs felt exposed and vulnerable, even for a man.

Chen Xuanzhu turned around and efficiently put on the school pants, then thoughtfully looked at her brother. “Fortunately, your body hair isn’t too noticeable, or wearing this skirt would have exposed it, ruining my reputation.”

“It’s not like I wanted to impersonate you.” Chen Xuanqiu muttered, his face flushed.

Chen Xuanzhu ignored him, squatting down to pull out a large box from under the bed, revealing an array of cosplay items: wigs, masks, and fake wings.

“What are you doing?”

Chen Xuanqiu was baffled, realizing his sister was quite the treasure trove.

“I bought these from an anime exhibition. Who knew they’d come in handy now?” Chen Xuanzhu handed him a wig, instructing, “Put this on and let me see.”

Chen Xuanqiu automatically took it, noticing the wig matched his sister’s hair color and texture, understanding her plan.

“I don’t know how to put it on.” Chen Xuanqiu fumbled with it, feeling embarrassed.

“You’re so useless.” Chen Xuanzhu couldn’t help but tease, but she patiently helped him put on the lace net and secure the wig, then carefully brushed it.

“You know, I feel like I’m looking in a mirror. Being a boy is a waste of your talent.” Chen Xuanzhu appraised her brother with satisfaction.

Chen Xuanqiu curiously stood by the mirror, staring in awe. He now looked exactly like his sister, with his natural, wavy dark-golden hair gracefully falling to his shoulders, his exotic, mixed-race features, and his slender, pale legs. He exuded femininity!

“Is this delayed development? Do I have some kind of illness?” Chen Xuanqiu was shocked and worried about his health, never having imagined a boy could look so feminine, it was almost unnatural.

“Just a shame the chest is a bit small.” Chen Xuanzhu regretfully looked at her brother’s flat chest, then glanced at her own ample bosom.

“What are you regretting? If I had a big chest, that would be a real shame.” Chen Xuanqiu was exasperated.

“Oh, I remember buying that thing.” Chen Xuanzhu suddenly recalled, rummaging through the box again. After a moment, she pulled out a bag containing a flesh-colored, short-sleeved ‘t-shirt.’

Chen Xuanqiu looked closer and was astonished. It wasn’t a shirt at all, but a wearable fake chest!
