After blowing out the candles, Jiang Xianzhi began cutting and sharing the cake with everyone.
It wasn’t until one in the morning that the guests finally dispersed to sleep.
Jiang Xianzhi was overjoyed.
This year, she had her family by her side—and the person she liked, too.
Back in the room, the moment Zhou Yining closed the door, she reached out and wrapped an arm around Jiang Xianzhi’s waist.
Seeing her being hugged, Jiang Xianzhi curved her brows and eyes into a smile.
“Sleepy. Let’s go rest.”
Zhou Yining pressed her hand firmly against Jiang Xianzhi’s waist, pulling her closer.
“I remember someone deliberately teased me earlier today. And now she just wants to sleep?”
“Mm, I didn’t tease you. You must’ve remembered wrong.”
Jiang Xianzhi mumbled, soft and sticky in her arms, her legs already weak from Zhou Yining’s grip on her waist.
“Teased me and won’t admit it now.”
Jiang Xianzhi slipped her arms around Zhou Yining’s waist, slowly guiding them both toward the bed.
By the time they reached it, Zhou Yining easily pinned her down.
She tapped Jiang Xianzhi’s nose with her fingertip.
“I also remember a little fox still making trouble yesterday morning.
Now she’s pretending otherwise?”
Jiang Xianzhi’s eyes bent in amusement as she stared at Zhou Yining.
She always thought her Zhouzhou didn’t dare kiss her directly.
But the next second, warmth brushed her lips.
Her mind froze.
Her face burned red so quickly it was almost visible to the naked eye.
Zhou Yining drew back slightly, savoring the sight of the flustered young lady.
She leaned in again, stealing another kiss, then teased,
“Weren’t you rubbing up against me on purpose this morning?
Why so red now, hm?”
Jiang Xianzhi looped an arm around her neck and buried her face in Zhou Yining’s chest, whining softly.
“I wasn’t. I won’t dare again. Zhouzhou, I want to sleep.”
“Good girl. I’ll let you sleep in a bit.”
Zhou Yining gently nudged her away and kissed her again.
This time, she wasn’t so quick to let go.
Before long, the young lady was tangled up in her arms, gasping for air.
Only when Jiang Xianzhi pushed her away breathlessly did Zhou Yining relent.
Jiang Xianzhi’s eyes shimmered with mist from the kiss.
She sniffled, gazing pitifully at Zhou Yining.
It felt like Zhouzhou might just eat her alive.
Zhou Yining’s gaze darkened at the sight.
She let Jiang Xianzhi catch her breath before kissing her once more.
Not until the young lady was breathless again did she finally release her.
“Zhouzhou~” Jiang Xianzhi’s voice wavered, soft and sweet.
“Mm. Good girl. I’ll make sure you sleep even better later.”
As she soothed her, Zhou Yining’s hand pressed against Jiang Xianzhi’s waist again.
The young lady couldn’t withstand this at all.
Already dazed from the kiss, she let out a faint whimper.
Zhou Yining’s gaze burned into her.
She brushed a kiss against the corner of her lips and murmured softly,
“Zhizhi, is this okay?”
Jiang Xianzhi’s ears flushed bright red.
Shy, she shut her eyes.
After a long moment, she peeked at Zhou Yining, gave a tiny nod, then quickly closed her eyes again.
Watching the little fox so bashful, Zhou Yining’s eyes curved in delight.
Her kisses trailed gently across Jiang Xianzhi’s brows and lashes before finally landing on lips softer than cotton candy.
The next morning, Zhou Yining woke a little past eight.
She didn’t rush to get up.
Instead, she lay there with a faint smile, watching her young lady.
The young lady was spoiled as always—last night too.
Crying when she was pleased, crying again when things got a little rougher.
In the end, Zhou Yining had no choice but to coax and soothe her.
Thinking of it, she leaned over and kissed Jiang Xianzhi’s forehead lightly.
Downstairs, Liang Jing and the others hadn’t gone to the company that day.
Since the birthday banquet was being held that evening, everyone was busy preparing at the villa.
Glancing at the clock, Liang Jing frowned.
“It’s already ten. Why haven’t Yining and Zhizhi come down yet?
Should I go check?”
“Don’t, Mom,” Jiang Yueyi coughed lightly.
“What if the little couple’s… busy?”
Liang Jing doubted it.
Zhizhi had just come of age; surely they wouldn’t be that hasty.
“I’ll still go take a look. It’s almost lunchtime.”
With that, she hurried upstairs.
She knocked on the door.
“Yining, Zhizhi, it’s ten o’clock already. Time to get up.”
She twisted the handle, only to find the door locked.
That was unusual—normally, even if the two kids slept together, they didn’t lock the door.
Inside, nestled in Zhou Yining’s arms, Jiang Xianzhi stirred at the sound.
She sniffled, rubbed against Zhou Yining, then slowly opened her eyes.
Zhou Yining gave her a smile before answering,
“Got it, Auntie. We’ll be down soon.”
Though unconvinced, Liang Jing didn’t press.
“Alright. Don’t be too long.”
Still half-asleep and sore, Jiang Xianzhi whined into Zhou Yining’s arms.
“It’s all your fault… you were too rough. It still hurts.”
Zhou Yining quickly soothed her.
“My fault. Tell me where it hurts, I’ll rub it for you.”
“No way.”
How could she not know how bad her Zhouzhou was, bullying her until she cried last night?
Zhou Yining coaxed her for a while longer before carrying her into the shower.
By the time the two emerged, it was nearly noon.
The spoiled young lady still walked gingerly, feeling uncomfortable, and leaned on Zhou Yining for support.
Of course Zhou Yining was happy to oblige—after all, she had already claimed her little fox completely.
At lunch, Jiang Xianzhi would one moment ask for soup, the next push her bowl toward Zhou Yining.
Even Liang Jing couldn’t stand it.
“Zhizhi…”
“It’s fine, Auntie,” Zhou Yining cut in quickly.
“I’ll let her order me around as much as she wants.”
Liang Jing stared at the clingy couple, deciding she’d seen enough.
In the afternoon, Jiang Xianzhi napped again.
When she woke, she still refused to let Zhou Yining go.
“Zhouzhou, my waist’s so sore. Rub it for me.”
She flopped onto the bed, instructing Zhou Yining.
“Alright, coming.”
Zhou Yining obediently massaged her waist, and soon Jiang Xianzhi was making soft noises again.
If it weren’t for the evening banquet, Zhou Yining would’ve kept her in bed all day.
By four, Jiang Xianzhi was dressed, and the makeup artist began styling both girls.
By six-thirty, guests started arriving.
Zhou Yining stood firmly at Jiang Xianzhi’s side, holding her hand.
Someone chatting with Liang Jing noticed the unfamiliar face.
“President Liang, and this young lady is…?”
Liang Jing smiled.
“This is my Zhizhi’s girlfriend.
She’s this year’s liberal arts top scorer in the province.”
“Oh, I see, Miss Jiang’s good friend.”
The guest clearly misunderstood her meaning.
Liang Jing didn’t bother correcting.
Sooner or later, people would know anyway.
This year, Zhang Ye arrived early with his father.
The moment they entered, his father urged him,
“Go on, give Miss Jiang the birthday gift you prepared.”
Zhang Ye glanced toward Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi standing side by side.
The sight of them in their outfits made his heart lurch.
Lately, he had been regretting rejecting both of them.
If only they could like him instead—better yet, fight over him.
Meanwhile, his father busied himself flattering Liang Jing and Jiang Shengde.
In the past, when Jiang Xianzhi was fond of Zhang Ye, business deals came easily.
But now, with no such tie, the Jiangs naturally sought better partners.
Sensing their coldness, Zhang Ye’s father tried again.
“President Jiang, President Liang, did Zhang Ye do something to upset Miss Jiang?
I’ll discipline him properly.
But about the cooperation, perhaps we could reconsider?
After all, we’ll be family one day.”
“Please don’t say that, President Zhang,” Jiang Shengde cut in.
“My daughter already has someone. Don’t cause any misunderstandings.”
“She has someone? Impossible!”
He had always heard Zhizhi liked his son.
How could she be with someone else?
“What’s impossible about it? Your son isn’t exactly irresistible.
It’s normal Zhizhi stopped liking him. President Zhang, please enjoy the banquet.”
With that, Liang Jing dismissed him entirely.
Meanwhile, Zhang Ye approached Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi with his gift.
“You two look great tonight.”
Zhou Yining’s eyes were ice.
“Spit it out or shut up.”
The sharp words sobered him.
He realized Zhou Yining never liked him to begin with.
Still, he clung to hope with Jiang Xianzhi.
“Zhizhi, this gift is just for you.”
“Stop calling me that so sweetly.
My girlfriend gets jealous, and she’s hard to coax.”
She’d been exhausted enough last night.
Tonight, all she wanted was her Zhouzhou being gentle—and maybe to finally get a good night’s sleep, since her legs still felt weak.
“What? Girlfriend?” Zhang Ye gaped.
Jiang Xianzhi nodded.
“Mm. Zhouzhou and I have been together for a while.”
She even sneaked a shy smile at Zhou Yining.
Zhou Yining lowered her gaze, pulling her into her arms.
“You—you two—no way. Impossible!”
The gift tumbled from Zhang Ye’s hands.
“What’s so impossible? It’s the modern day. Girls liking girls is normal. Don’t act so shocked.”
Jiang Xianzhi rolled her eyes, done with him.
“No, your family would never agree to this!” Zhang Ye was unraveling.
“You’re wrong. My whole family supports us. Zhouzhou even lives here now.”
He stumbled back, unable to believe it.
Not far away, Liang Jing waved them over.
“Yining, Zhizhi, come here. Let me introduce you—this is your Uncle Zhou…”
The two followed politely, greeting the business partners.
One CEO studied Zhou Yining curiously.
“And this is? Haven’t seen her before.”
Liang Jing smiled.
“This is Zhou Yining, Zhizhi’s girlfriend.
Once she graduates, she’ll help manage the company.
Thought this would be a good chance to introduce her to everyone.”
“Girlfriend?” he asked, surprised.
She nodded.
“Yes. Girls are more considerate anyway. And Zhizhi’s set on her.
Please take care of them—they’re family.”
“No problem, no problem.”
The group chatted warmly.
Meanwhile, Zhang Ye and his father sat cold and ignored, leaving halfway through the banquet.
On the way home, his father fumed.
“Useless! I told you to build ties with Zhizhi.
One girl and you couldn’t even manage. What use are you to me?”
“How was I supposed to know she liked girls?” Zhang Ye muttered, devastated.
The two people who once liked him now only liked each other.
He was starting to question reality itself.
Back at the Jiang villa, Jiang Shengde and Liang Jing had introduced Zhou Yining publicly.
It was their way of telling the circle: their daughter was in a relationship, and this was her partner.
The banquet went on until past nine.
When the guests finally left, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi rushed upstairs to change and remove their makeup.
